Ah, what a perfect DBM page to catch up on. DBZ: Huh, between this and the Vegeta grave thing I forgot Goku used to use the invisible ki glare. Namek seemed to be the arc Goku used one off abilities. DBS: Man, Anizala (However you spell it) deserved so much better. I get wanting to improve pacing but cutting the fodder quicker, but the fusion Kaiju needed more respect than this single kick. DBM: Ah yes, Bra literally shatters her symbol of enslavement (Something even Vegeta, who didn't even obey Babidi, couldn't do) not because of the horrible actions hitting her or IDK butchering her own brother...but because her ego was challenged and she got her little feelings hurt. This is why it is hard to sympathize with her.

I personally take no offense at anizala or whatever his name is getting 1 shotted, its basically AT doing his usual thing with introducing this "supah strongu" thing and it being nothing.
Gotenks was formed and was beaten down by fat buu in his debut. it was for a joke for a joke character, but to a degree it made sense. fusion was built up to be incredible, and after all those failed attempts to fuse right he was formed correctly and it still wasn't enough.
anizala was created through fusion and like a 5 man fusion no less, a kaiju monster that looks intimidating...1 shotted by kale. it does take the wind out of anizalas sails, but then again, anizala wasn't the main villain, the strongest in the TOP, or the main character. wasn't even in the winning team either.
anizala was just this thing to make kale look good so her fall can be attributed to her own power and form down grading on its own, and the jiren universe and its team work looking either impressive or just their sense of cohesion. this also makes jirens lack of cohesion and cooperation more apparent when he just "lol get lost thots!" to fatso and bugs beerus.
I'm actually enjoying the manga TOP more than I was before, but maybe thats because they didn't get to roshi curb stomping jiren and winning the TOP by himself.
yes I know that isn't what happened.

Problem is, that didn't work. This doesn't make Kale look good, it only makes Anizala look pathetic. Cause we literally haven't seen this Anizala do anything, so the reveal is more he is just a chump than anything else. The only way one could go "wow Kale is so strong!" is if you base it on the anime where Anizala was a legitimate threat. It doesn't even really work as a gag moment, there's no exaggerated "whaaa" on the faces of the Universe 3 stand, Anizala doesn't even get a reaction as he is erased mid fall. Just cause he isn't Jiren, doesn't mean it becomes okay to write him like a loser. Which is my main issue with the Manga ToP. Everyone but Jiren Universe 7 faces becomes an utter loser, which takes all the fun of the whole thing.

Everyone but Jiren Universe 7 faces becomes an utter loser, which takes all the fun of the whole thing. I agree it doesn't work because dbs isn't really trying hard. anizala shouldn't look good because its just a 1 off character not meant for greatness. we don't even know how strong it is anyways. most dbs manga characters don't stack up to god forms. hit was taken out embarrassingly in the u6 budokai. everyone in the TOP pretty much is a loser, and this includes most of u6 too. nobody got ssj2 in u6, at least the anime had the gang work it and get the form from some degree of training and stress. and while you did like the anime anizala, I did not, it just dragged on for me. so I think we can just agree to disagree on this. we have different tastes, and if it was a gag moment anizala was taken down, it was poorly done as it didn't have any real pay off or send off with a "wahh!" look like you suggested. I feel like this was a failing on toyataros part. AT would have done something like that, and had toei animated this moment with this setup, they would have done like you suggested. case in point, they built up the like of col. silver who was a chump in the manga, but had him built up as this invincible fighter, only to be taken down with ease. he has the typical goofy face of a bad guy taken down. putput or whatever his name is, in the 22nd budokai, built up as this legit threat, taken down easily and his manager even tried to sabbotage the fight so his guy would win. and while both these fights made those 2 guys look like chumps, it did cement goku as beign tough for taking them down. We don't know anizala, or why we should care. there was no dramatic build up, only that they had fusion, which are we to assume its the same strength mark up as the potara or metamorses kind? I'm personally glad I didn't have to sit through 3 chapters of a fight between kale and this guy, and while that could have been interesting, it just made space for supreme UI roshi, another bull shit moment too. not gonna lie, this arc was when the TOP lost steam for me, but in its defense, had anizala dragged on, it might have been boring to se 2 monsters fight each other had they done it wrong. the TOP is full of wrongs that drag on in the anime and maybe even the TOP manga, but I'll take break neck pacing over boring slogs if thats the options I have, and I wish roshis BS had been skipped too. yeah the manga decided to put focus on an old man who was outpaced in DB. not even Z, but DB. good lord, why not have him bow out gracefully and preserve his prestige. I'd rather yamcha be there to job while taking on low level mooks he can hang with. kale we know is tough because shes a lssj. so her being taken down later will either be disapointing, or cool. manga kale is disapointing while anime kale was taken down by jiren, making him look bad ass. doesn't kale job because her body breaks down? I honestly don't recall because I gave up trying to enjoy the TOP arc with roshi and never re-read the damn thing. dbs fails because it just isn't giving 100%, and AT even when he was burned out on db in the 90's still told a better story even if the art was kinda shit at times. also, I liked your comment because I think we mostly agree anyway even if our points weren't vocalized in the way that makes sense, sort of. I probably didn't get my point across due to a lack of proper focus. thats on me.

I disagree, Anizala is the strongest of Universe 3 and really the ToP needed more people besides Jiren to be an actual obstacle for the Z-Fighters. Frankly there already is an insane amount of fodder for a contest of the multiverse's mightiest so turning the few non-Jien credible threats into chumps detracts from the experience. and while you did like the anime anizala, I did not, it just dragged on for me. so I think we can just agree to disagree on this. we have different tastes, and if it was a gag moment anizala was taken down, it was poorly done as it didn't have any real pay off or send off with a "wahh!" look like you suggested. I feel like this was a failing on toyataros part. AT would have done something like that, and had toei animated this moment with this setup, they would have done like you suggested. Indeed we do disagree on this, which is fine. My issue is it being a big waste of a character and I personally would prefer trying to maximize the utility of characters rather than just go "meh" and discard them for a joke. Even if it had been pulled off in a Toriyaam style, it would still feel like a waste. case in point, they built up the like of col. silver who was a chump in the manga, but had him built up as this invincible fighter, only to be taken down with ease. he has the typical goofy face of a bad guy taken down. putput or whatever his name is, in the 22nd budokai, built up as this legit threat, taken down easily and his manager even tried to sabbotage the fight so his guy would win. and while both these fights made those 2 guys look like chumps, it did cement goku as beign tough for taking them down. Difference being we already know Goku is tough, Vegeta is tough etc. They are not the ones the story should be trying to sell here; it should be the new faces, to try and convey at least that some of them are worth a damn and not a complete waste. Think making everyone a bunch pf Panputs for Kale just makes the multiverse feel empty. You act like there is one extreme vs. the other here and nothing else. Nobody says you have to give Anizala 3 chapters, the anime used him for a single episode and yet got more millage of a fusion Kaiju in a battle frankly fitting the scale. A single chapter of Kale and Anizala beating the piss out of each other and knocking aside others as causalities could've said more for both than this one kick did. not gonna lie, this arc was when the TOP lost steam for me, but in its defense, had anizala dragged on, it might have been boring to se 2 monsters fight each other had they done it wrong. the TOP is full of wrongs that drag on in the anime and maybe even the TOP manga, but I'll take break neck pacing over boring slogs if thats the options I have, and I wish roshis BS had been skipped too. yeah the manga decided to put focus on an old man who was outpaced in DB. not even Z, but DB. good lord, why not have him bow out gracefully and preserve his prestige. I'd rather yamcha be there to job while taking on low level mooks he can hang with. I like how you complain about stuff the manga choose to focus its time on for this arc while at the same time being thankful they didn't waste time with Anizala possibly doing something; which may have either been good or meh, but you actively disliked the alternative. kale we know is tough because shes a lssj. so her being taken down later will either be disapointing, or cool. manga kale is disapointing while anime kale was taken down by jiren, making him look bad ass. doesn't kale job because her body breaks down? I honestly don't recall because I gave up trying to enjoy the TOP arc with roshi and never re-read the damn thing. Kale's fight vs. the Pride Troopers is inconsistent much as it is disappointing, still better than the character assassination manga Kefla gets. Either way Kale's downfall should be coming up soon in this recap so you should get context. dbs fails because it just isn't giving 100%, and AT even when he was burned out on db in the 90's still told a better story even if the art was kinda shit at times. also, I liked your comment because I think we mostly agree anyway even if our points weren't vocalized in the way that makes sense, sort of. I probably didn't get my point across due to a lack of proper focus. thats on me. Eh, I think DBS has has moments as fun for me as DB/DBZ. And moments more frustrating as it is a mixed bag as anything in the franchise is. And that's fine in the end this is just how one feels about anything, so you are free to like this in spite of my feelings. Your own view and what you bring joy from something is what matters.

Your own view and what you bring joy from something is what matters. >I disagree, Anizala is the strongest of Universe 3 I don't mind anizala beign tough, but look at the inverse, we have the anime version that put it on par with the likes of u7. so a strong verson of this thing exists. I'm just glad that they didn't waste time on it, because I personally didn't care for it. its like wasting time on say, android 13, which was a villain I didn't care about either. I chose this comparison because they had like 1 thing in common. a fusion that was more than 2 people. maybe more but that was the biggie. so its not to say anizala couldn't be cool, but I didn't care for the TOP in either versions, but at least it didn't drag on for the manga. >My issue is it being a big waste of a character and I personally would prefer trying to maximize the utility of characters rather than just go "meh" and discard them for a joke. Even if it had been pulled off in a Toriyaam style, it would still feel like a waste. That is a fair point. I don't disagree that it would be a waste. I guess I'm biased, I didn't like the anime versions drag on style for this fight, or the design either. >Think making everyone a bunch pf Panputs for Kale just makes the multiverse feel empty. I blame AT and toei and especially toyable for this. they made goku and co so OP with the god forms, and also in base apparently, they don't have proper competition. If they had somehow shoe horned god ki into anizala and he wasn't another monster with no personality, I might have cared. I didn't really care kid buu much either, as he was a 1 trick pony. even dbs brolly had some depth, as he only hulked out when he was a lssj. aside from kale huling out as a lssj I don't think she had much personality either. even base form brolly had some depth besides timidness. and he didn't need lssj to go nuts either. >You act like there is one extreme vs. the other here and nothing else. Nobody says you have to give Anizala 3 chapters, That was deliberate hyperbole. It didn't need to be 3, no. but at the same time we could have been shackled down to that or more. keep in mind the freeza fight. it went back and forth with the 2nd form, then the 3rd, then the 4th, and even AT admitted he didn't need the 3rd form at all. It was a canon waste suggested by the writer. so 3 chapters would be too much, and 1 chapter would be fine, but I'm just glad they didn't go over board and drag it out. personal bias on my part I admit. >the anime used him for a single episode and yet got more millage of a fusion Kaiju in a battle frankly fitting the scale. I didn't like the episode, but not because it showed off the kaiju. I didn't like how u7 was involved. maybe that has more to do with it. but it is unfortunately how it was dealt with. maybe had jiren been involved, and have him deal with it that'd be cool, building up jiren because he walloped the thing, ok, thats cool. but the TOP anime just kinda dragged on and not in a good way. >A single chapter of Kale and Anizala beating the piss out of each other and knocking aside others as causalities could've said more for both than this one kick did. That would be cool. yes! I like your idea. >I like how you complain about stuff the manga choose to focus its time on for this arc while at the same time being thankful they didn't waste time with Anizala possibly doing something; which may have either been good or meh, but you actively disliked the alternative. I don't like it. I'd rather not complain at all. they wasted time in the manga and the anime, so I take what I didn't like and was cut from the manga, and I vomit at the stuff they left in. I'm just saying it could be worse, but your ideas would be great, I do admit. Who is the editor at that manga now? AT had editors and thats why he did great work. His current editor sucks. >still better than the character assassination manga Kefla gets. yeah, I do think UI goku taking down kefla is better than gohan doing it. it makes kefla look weak. >the rest. Cool beans yo.
