They have been pretty cool since this revolt started. I think they worked better in this situation then they did in the tournament. I know original fan characters aren’t everyone’s cup of tea and they ruin a story if they are done badly, but U19 found its groove now. I wish these characters had a better start when the comic started because I can see a lot of potential good interactions with universes that ruled by Freeza or the Saiyans. Given the groups history with the Trade Planet Organization I could see them being wary of U8 and U13 especially. I've always thought the Heloites should have been the Tsufuls/Tuffles. There would have been lots of OCs still, but at least the "race" wouldn't be fanmade. Raichi as the only Tsuful is a little disappointing, he's a one-dimensional character with an OP technique like many people in DBZ.

Raichi as the only Tsuful is a little disappointing, he's a one-dimensional character with an OP technique like many people in DBZ. In fairness we did get some character moments from Raichi in the comic. I really liked how he saved Tapion and helped him out in U3 special and how he became friends with him. After he got rid of the Saiyans in U3 he just retired. He wasn’t so much a traditional Dragon Ball villain, but more of anti-villain. He did terrible things and wanted to destroy the Saiyan race, but his motive was to avenge his race. Raichi had more layers than he originally did. I wish his story had him grow beyond his hate and acknowledge not all Saiyans are evil. That could have been a good story. I was left disappointed that we didn’t get Gast and Raichi discuss the nature of revenge and helping Raichi to start letting go of his hatred. I don’t really mind U19 being a fan made race. We already have a lot of Dragon Ball characters in here. Having one or two fan original races I think are fine.

I prefer Raichi to keep his hatred as something he literally can't get passed. Though I didn't like how he died.
U19 being fanmade is something I like, mostly because they are based on something in the manga, being the species Raditz wanted his brother's help for. It's the sort of 'extension of the world' that I enjoy, where you take what is a minor thing mentioned and then expand on it.

For being a clinically insane video game character he was remastered pretty good. Did you want a Meruem, Toguro or something? That would have made him deeper than any DB-based character.

Between the U3 characters, he's easily the flattest. After all, this is the universe where Bardock and Piccolo Daimao come from. Helping Tapion doesn't do much to make Raichi two-dimensional. Besides, his technique is just way too OP. Ghosts which are stronger than the originals? That's incredibly absurd, and he can collect souls (or rather, "hate essence") from people who died and were brought back (Pan). Imagine how OP would Archer be in Fate/Stay Night if Unlimited Blade Works gave him copies which are not only superior to the originals but can also stay in the world indefinitely. Imagine if he could project Excalibur without suiciding himself like Raichi can summon Broly at little cost. Raichi is an absolute monster in every sense imaginable. The only characters who could hope to defeat him in a power battle are the other OP ones in the tournament. Even Gast struggled! Unfortunately, that's all he is.

What would have made Raichi two dimensional to you then? You said helping Tapion doesn't do it for you. Would Raichi giving up his hatred after meeting good Saiyans have done it for you? If Raichi had actually helped more people who were negatively impacted by the Saiyans in his universe?

I think raichi is supposed to be one dimensional. He's a ghost himself fueled by hate. with no saiyans left to hate, he seemingly destroyed himself or could not function without enough hate juice towards saiyans in some of the universes.
I would like to see a raichi who overcomes this barrier and perhaps if hatchiyack were reprogrammed, raichi could reassert his true personality from before he was turned into a hate ghost. But this is all off topic for a "u19" forum page. Maybe this should be cleaned up and moved elsewhere?

I discovered something important in today's live stream on Twitch: Salagir doesn't give a fuck about U19! 🙁 This honestly explains so much. As for me, I didn't care much for them at first. I thought they should've been Tuffles (And still do, given both have the tech gimmick to contrast the brute force Saiyans) but overtime I began to warm up to them. I felt like they had a unique style compared to most other fighters, and liked their general comradery especially when contrasted with the dysfunction junction known as Universe 16. Felt they were done slightly dirty in the tournament itself, then the Majin Rebellion hit and they really became some of my fav characters. Phipsil perhaps one of my favs to come out of Multiverse in general (Would've liked her in the tournament itself in retrospect).

It doesn't sound that surprising to me if he isn't that invested in U19. For a long time U19 was one of the least developed universes in the tournament. I don't really think they came into their own until much later in the story. I can't really see them getting to take center stage again until we get to the multiverse threat since all of their participants were eliminated. Maybe if all the characters and history had been detailed at the start of the comic they could have gotten much better focus than they did. I like the idea of having U19 fighters be the from the planet that Vegeta, Nappa, and Raditz were supposed to conquer for Freeza that they needed Kakarot's help for. That is a interesting idea and I don't mind they weren't made Tufles for that reason alone. Where the story is now it is hard to see them getting to do much. Majin Revolt was worth it to me just to get a chance to see the Heliots be used better than they were originally.

What did he say exactly about U19? I'm planning to make a post about the live stream, but in short, every time I asked him about U19's involvements in the future arcs, his answer is either "I didn't thought about them" or "I didn't write anything about them" And when I asked him when is U19's fanfiction is going to continue, he flat out said it won't, because the one who's writing it said he won't continue. He didn't even said that he will look for another writer to continue it, he just said it won't continue & that's that. He really does not care about this universe. It doesn't sound that surprising to me if he isn't that invested in U19. For a long time U19 was one of the least developed universes in the tournament. I don't really think they came into their own until much later in the story. I can't really see them getting to take center stage again until we get to the multiverse threat since all of their participants were eliminated.I could say the same thing about U3, U8, U9, U12, U13, & U14. They're all eliminated, but I bet Salagir has plans for these universes. Hell! He even has plans for U15's I'K'L! Q. Have you any plans for the participants who are eliminated and who are still here? Like Marie Sue from Universe 2, IKL's Mother or the possible "Mystic Radiz". Will they have any importance or impacts in the future?Salagir: Maybe? Well, Mary sue no, because she's a gag character, a comic relief. The others? maybe. (1:42:52 min) Q. I'K'L?
Salagir: Him & his mother were a gag characters, but of course we're gonna do something. Now, we have been going for a very big side story. so we are going to do something but later! (3:55:47 min) And yet he has nothing for U19? The group that U18 are fighting for? The group that U16 Bra owns them an apology? The group that we the readers should know what they felt about Majin Bra? yet, when I asked Salagir about it, he said: Q. What U19 reaction will be to Bra killing Phipsil & Nedwook?Salagir: I didn't write that yet. The things is we showed a lot of reactions already. And I wanted to just to go to something else, but some good writers in team told me "No, you have to show more reactions." So, we will show more reactions, & I will put tons of them in the novel. (1:28 min - part 2) It's weird to me. U19's Ultras have so much potentials to the story, yet they get thrown on the side line. Why is it? The way I see it, they are the most effective ones. If we're talking about the tournament then yes, they have no involvement in it. But the same thing goes for all the universes that were eliminated, but like I said, Salagir most likely has a plans for these universes. I think Salagir & all of the readers are sleeping on the Ultras & what they're capable of. If I asked the readers, who can kill Vegetto? Most of will say Zen Buu, others will say Son Bra or Gast, but I bet none of them will mention the Ultras. Because yes, The Ultras can kill Vegetto. Not only with carbonate but even by the laser, as Salagir said it can cut him: Q11. Can the Ultras's "finger laser" cut Vegetto or Broly?
Salagir: Vegetto, yes, absolutely. Broly no, you saw that in a special on U3, they tried it on Broly & it didn't cut him. Although the technology wasn't as strong as today sooooooo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. (58:48 min Second part) You may argue that Vegetto can dodge them, so they will be useless against him. But let me ask you this: Will Phipsil be able to do this if she faced Dabura one-on-one: (The color page is from HomolaGabor's deviantart account btw. link) Probably not. In one-on-one battles, the Ultras are inferiors to the most fighters in the tournament. But in a group? they're the most dangers ones, because they can pretty much oofed anyone in the tournament expect for a few characters. When you think about it, Along with the Gohans, Phipsil & Nedwook were the most effective in the Majin Revolt. it was them who killed Narub who would have been really dangers to keep alive. Phipsil killing Dabura allowed West Kaioshin to help U18 Piccolo against the frost demons, which then give him the chance to kill Freeza & Cooler. Nedwook took out Kakarotto, allowed Gohan to go help Videl & Bra by making Cell busy & killed King Piccolo. They were the main reason that made Majin Bra retreat & Phipsil managed to out smart Bra twice! And keep in mind, all this was done by two Ultras. imagine what would have happen if Narub didn't kill the other two Ultras. That's why I find it sad that Salagir has no plans for them. They have the potential to do more but they wouldn't have the chance to do so because they are always overlooked by everyone. I mean just look at this: I don't care what Salagir says! A SSJ3 tier fighter would NOT survive this if they were in Cell place. How can a group that can do this to a SSJ3 tier be irrelevant to the plot?

A SSJ3 tier fighter would NOT survive this if they were in Cell place. How can a group that can do this to a SSJ3 tier be irrelevant to the plot? You raise excellent points. Besides both Gohans, the U19 crew are the ones that did the most with the Picccolos followed by close behind them. I swear to God, at this point Salagir is just revealing himself to be the usual Dragon Ball fan. -U2 gag characters with whacky powers that are reminiscent of early Dragon Ball. Funny but boots them because their gag powers would just own everything. -U3 has a dead scientist with technology that is shown to match U18. We got a taste of Raichi in his two specials with Tapion that combined both their movies. Was able to make Raichi a fan favorite even after butchering everyone’s hopes of an intense philosophical discussion between Raichi and Gast. One could say that Dragon Ball doesn’t delve too deeply into the concept of justice vs vengeance. But this fan made spin-off before their matchup showed it’s willing to do deep topics. Like examining the lengths Ginyu of U8 went to get Cold’s body and if it was worth it for him. Or how bat shit insane U13 Kakarot is and how extreme isolation can damage a person beyond recognition. -U7, everyone’s giant green man. After showing almost no concern for the Broly vs Vegito fight until both Broly and Vegito were blasted into opposite directions before Vegito revealed Super Saiyan 3. Everyone was still confused where to place him. Then we see him easily resist Buu’s attempted take over and locks him up. Most assumed it was a strange form of magic. Perhaps having access to that library planet allowed Gast to study lost text Buu may have never heard of since he travels around and Gast stayed one planet for years. During his disappointing fight with Raichi people started doubting his strength. Just to literally have him put up a giant dome with no issue after being teleported to a planet with no oxygen that would kill everyone. Then stoping Vegito using more magic. -U8. Could have had Babidi develop his magic more since he’s alive longer than in canon and think of ways to stop Fat Buu. Hell he could have teleported everyone inside a star to kill everyone using his magic and not even the ‘almighty Vegito’ could have prevented it. They all would have incinerated before processing what was going on and the only one that would have survived was Buu since there was one piece of him left watching the arena. -U19 the big technology group. Carbonate shown to stop a rampaging Broly, energy balls of such intense compressed energy anyone lower than a Super Saiyan 3 would be utterly vaporized. Even a level three without Cell’s regeneration would be a mangled body missing limbs. Nano machines that can (somehow) stop Dabura’s stone spit. And finally their laser that is so fine tuned and precise it will cut anyone (except Broly....) to pieces. Out of the others I’ve mentioned above most are interested in these characters and more of their struggle. How did they beat Cold family? Is Cell a thing in their Universe? What about Babidi and Majin Buu? At least Gast took out the Colds and still had years before Babidi would show up with Majin Buu. But, no Salagir is like every other Dragon Ball fan that just thinks ‘pure power’ beats everything. The U16 special where the group had to take out secret cabal trying to kill Vegito was the final nail in that coffin. Someone points out that Vegito is going to run out of air since he’s in space? Nope he just needs to power up more because that’s the answer to every single trick magicians throw at him. The amount of idiot ball everyone had against Majin Bra also was just proving that “power beats everything.” At this point if U20 Broly came back and just nuked everyone and himself I wouldn’t even care. It’s great how Salagir claims to follow the “No power levels” rule. But when having the opportunity to prove how bullshit they are. He just ignores it and uses power levels without stating the actual numbers.

He just ignores it and uses power levels without staying the actual numbers. God Dr. Raichi vs. Gast still angers me to this day. What could've been an epic clash but more importantly an excellent character piece for both as last members of their race with wildly different ideologies was a complete unfulling mess. And yeah, if how Broly and his fights have been handled is anything, than anything short of brute force may as well be pointless in DBM. Despite U19 having the tech and coordination to handle threats of higher power levels, they all get dumped from the tourney with little hope of more to do in the future. And Broly, who is literally invincible to being punched as an option, only ever gets beat by a really really big blast to the face.
