Well...... Not really, as how were we supposed to know?
I can say for myself that i was hoping it wouldn't be another example of 'The Goku show' and someone else *coughcough* Vegeta *coughcough* would be the one to shine. Especially how they were hyping Vegeta not even participating because of his need to protect Bulma while she was waiting to give birth. I really thought he would get it because of his need to protect his newborn child would cause him to ascend beyond where he currently is.

Well if I remember correctly the damn thing was in the opening since the beginning of the series in the US and as my friend once said "why is Goku yellow?" As for Japan most likely not considering Toriyama and planing don't exactly mix so at most it would of been revealed about 3 weeks before it's debut. |

I saw the form and I'm really glad it isn't just another recolor. Maybe this form is related to Gohan's ultimate form. I always believed that Ultimate Gohan was his full unlocked potential. This might follow the same idea but with Goku's full potential in God Ki. I have to wonder if Super Saiyan was this hyped up/revealed this early back in the day, and what the consequences would be if they did it. It's different nowadays since Toriyama provides the entire outline so Toei is able plan each saga from the beginning. It makes it easier to tease future forms and storylines since they should know them before even beginning the animation process. Back then Toriyama drew the manga by chapter so I think Too would only know about the new forms shortly before they appeared in the manga. I'm not sure if Toriyama had come up with the design for SSj before he revealed it in the manga though. Lord Slug was released a few months before the manga chapter where Goku first unlocked the form. The Japanese title was "Son Goku the SSj" so maybe Toriyama came up with the design for the movie as the first teaser of the new form and then decided to change the hair color later on. |

There was more evidence than not that he would power up. Pretty much any time hundreds of lives are at stake and no one is strong enough to defeat the baddie a transformation is inevitable. Like it's a fusion of SSGod and SSBlue Ki and he's somehow tapped into both simultaneously but in his base form so it doesn't drain stamina. I must admit it looks good from the pictures shown, but without a suitable expansion it will be just another shallow DBS thing. Plus they have been having Vegeta and Goku at the roughly same level for a while now and they haven't come close to 'Mastering' SSBlue so i thought it'd be more focused on training it up. |

I wouldn't be surprised one fucking bit if he does. That said I reckon it's too early to introduce a legit new form for Goku and at best we will get him properly harmonising SSJblue with KKx69, which will obviously be the bridge for his eventual new form later on in the series. I'd laugh if it ends up being like Mystic Gohan and he is just uber in his base form, with any transformations he chooses to use is done so purely for intimidation reasons. Or it's somethin even lamer like he gets a third eye. Wait no! His tail comes back and the eye is on the end of it.... edit: I can good English I sincerely hate being right about this. I swear if he scored this new form by absorbing this bloody spirit bomb I will have to buy a kitten so I can punch it. Even watching DBS with the mindset of it being a parody can be excruciating at times... |
