Is Frieza insane/a psychopath?

I always considered him a cold-hearted villain but after seeing him enough times I think he may actually be off his rocker, or at least a psychopath by real world standards.
1. Temper issues- He maintains a relatively calm and collected attitude but when he loses his temper, he REALLY loses it. I mean hugely. Look at how he reacts to being cheated out of immortality. He keeps his calm face but fully admits he's never been more angry in his entire life, and resolves to killing everyone in sight in the most painful way possible. I mean even regular villains should be creeped out and terrified by that.
2. Sadistic side- Yes it's fully true that a lot of DBZ villains possess this trait. But he really takes it to a high level. I've heard him laughing maniacally while trying to kill people quite often. Most villains like to exploit their power over others, yes, but he seems constantly delighted to lord his power over others.
3. Paranoia- He is freaking terrified of a Saiyan reaching the SSJ form and rivaling him in power. He destroyed a planet just to remove the threat, and after seeing Goku's SSJ form he was horrified. The strange thing about that is that he was perfectly capable of beating Goku in that form when at full power. True his ultimate form (not the golden one) was unstable but he still had the advantage over Goku in that he could survive in space. Once he set Namek to be destroyed he could have distracted Goku and ran for it. Goku really only survived Namek exploding by luck, he found a pod at the last second. Heck Goku was even willing to let Frieza live and actually gave him some of his energy, but he wasted that chance pretty fast.
4. Megalomania- Frieza was the emperor of the universe and the most powerful being in the world. So why would he go after more power? Cell for instance didn't care about immortality once he was at the top. When Frieza went after the Dragon Balls, he was practically desperate to be immortal. Why? He knew no one could beat him and yet he wanted immortality so badly that he flew into a rage when he couldn't get it. I also find it odd that when Goku gave him energy to survive, he attacked him with it. A normal villain would probably only care about survival, so if his opponent spared him he'd probably take it. How is it sane for Frieza to obsess over immortality and being unstoppable if he was willing to kill himself to get rid of someone? He wanted to be the most powerful so badly that he was willing to kill himself after fighting so hard for immortality just to prove he was the strongest, and he wouldn't have even been able to do that if Goku hadn't given him his energy. So he tried to prove he was stronger than Goku by using power his enemy gave him out of pity, and didn't mind dying after being so angry about losing his chance at immortality. That really doesn't make much sense.
5. Resemblance to the Joker- Before you ask, yes, I'm kidding. Sort of. I mean it IS kind of weird that the most notorious DBZ villain out of all of them shares a color scheme, cold-hearted eyes, and a sadistic grin with the clown Prince of Crime. Doubt there's any real relation though.
