What is your honest opinion about the original Super Saiyan God form that appeared in Battle of Gods (and other Super material)?
Personally I originally hated it since the design was boring, the attainment was unoriginal, and the time limit drawback made it highly unappealing until the super manga came around. Now I am okay with the form since it can be used at will along with the usage of "Saiyan Beyond God" and "Super Saiyan Blue / Rose". If it wasn't for Toyotaru's usage of this transformation, it would have been my least favorite of all time, but now I actually enjoy it.
Thoughts?

I think its a cool form. Probably placing #5 if I were to have a top 5. Like most ppl when first introduced thought it was lazy when it came to design and the time limiter to it was dumb but at the same time made since (but now it doesn't because they can still use the form and from my knowledge without the time limit sooooo.)
Its cooler than ssj blue because in battle of gods it was a intimidating form, in the dbs manga during the universe tourney it was still intimidating and badass to see. Ssj blue WAS cool until it became the equivalent to ssj to most opponents they face. I even like ssj rose more than blue because it looks cooler and is more intimidating.

SSG actually dethroned SS3 as my most disliked Saiyan form. How Goku attained it, reducing his muscle mass, the not-quite-Kaioken look to it, etc.
The manga's redeemed it a little bit, but at the cost of making how SSB works completely different from the anime, and in the process making everyone weaker than their anime counterparts by a large margin in some cases. YMMV on whether that's a good or a bad thing in and of itself, I just dislike how different the anime and manga have gotten already on these points, and how likely they'll continue diverging.
I prefer the anime's Saiyan Beyond God myself over SSG. I like seeing Goku and Vegeta fight in base form after being barraged nonstop with yellow haired transformations for forever.

I like the idea of SS3--a flawed, energy-draining form--but have never liked the appearance. If the form at least kept the eyebrows, it'd be acceptable. I would've liked it best if the only difference about being a god was the aura, like if it had sparkles or something (like SS4 Gogeta's). Toriyama loves characters whose appearance doesn't reflect their strength--Beerus himself does not look that intimidating compared to 2nd-form Frieza or Imperfect Cell. They already halfheartedly tried to convey this with SSG by making Goku look thinner when he transformed...but why not just go the whole way and have there be no real change? Maybe some glowing eyes to show when the character's using god ki, but that's it. Having Goku become red only makes it look like the Kaioken, and opens the door on hordes of recolored transformations.

I mean each transformation puts the past one to shame. SS1 was the first, original, attained from rage. SS deviations were pure training and Ki related stuff. SS2 was "worse" than SS1 anger. SS3 I'm not even gonna go there. But SSGod? It was just a plot device for fighting an antagonist that honestly didn't even need to be in Godhood level to be considered a challenge. Just make it a SS3-power X2 Tier or something. Hell, pulling the same stunt they did in Movie 8, Broly (Please hear me out ) by channeling everyone's energy into Goku would make more sense for a power boost than some random "5 other pure hearted Saiyans had their energies poured into the 6th, somehow making him ascend to Godhood for a few minutes" Although it looks sleek and different to show that muscle wasn't necessary, it's just a "... wait wth? Looks cool but that's really weird how it works" moment in my honest opinion. tl;dr It's a meh. Plot device, looks cool, weird method of unlocking though.
