Which Gohan is your favorite? Is it cry baby Gohan, badass teen ssj2 Gohan or disappointing DBS Gohan? From all the versions of Gohan, I'd say mine is Future Gohan but since I'm at work I'll hold off on explaining why until later tonight lol.

I like Kid Gohan. I respect that Teen Gohan had a lot of struggling and suffering in his time, but Kid Gohan had to deal with a near total lack of ability to protect his loved ones. The kid faced off against some of the toughest members of Frieza's army knowing that most of them outclassed him, and actually went back to help his father face off against Frieza in his final form knowing he would probably die. The sad part of that really stands out when you think about how he was really the ONLY Son family member to deal with being outclassed in almost all of his fights (Kid Goku trained and went to great lengths to put himself at on par with his enemies and Goten used fusion in the majority of his fights). It's no wonder he felt like he couldn't protect his loved ones, his opponents were almost always stronger than him. Compared to how confident his father is Gohan was also really doubtful of himself, he was always surprised by others expectations of him and his own potential power.

It's a toss-up between (Late) Buu Saga & Future. It's interesting in the sense that they are both the extremes of their destiny. One reached his potential; the other did not. One became a warrior; the other decided that his heart isn't really made for it. Finally this for symbolic reasons: I know that he's not canon, but DBM Gohan is also an honorable mention. He's really what DBS Gohan should be, but I'll just leave that for another thread.

Future Gohan.
It's amazing what a harsh world does to characters. I'd take Future Gohan/Trunks all day over regular Gohan/Trunks, even though Future Gohan is completely outclassed by regular Gohan in terms of power.

When I saw Gohan go SS2 on TV back in 2001, he was my favorite character, hands down. All my DBZ drawings over the next decade were nothing but Teen Gohan. I voted for him to be fair to 14 straight years of fanboy. There was something special about this gentle kid becoming ruthless, slowly deathwalking toward you, so strong that when he punches people they explode. Super Saiyan was impressive, but SS2 Gohan was untouchable.
Now that I'm older, though, I think Future Gohan is the best. Teen Gohan is strong and steely, yeah, but Future Gohan is the perfect mix of heroics, wisdom, pragmatism, and raw awesome. His defining moment is when he's got blood pouring out of his amputated arm and Trunks dying at his side and says, with the last senzu in his hand, "Okay, Gohan, what would your father do?" (Give it to the androids for a fair fight, of course.) Is it any wonder Future Trunks worshiped this guy? Trunks is awesome because Gohan was awesome.
Future Gohan is who I wished Teen Gohan grew up into. Future Gohan is who I wish Buu saga Gohan was. Future Gohan is what Gohan could become if he had to, but sadly Gohan apparently won't become that awesome unless everyone else is dead...If Gohan absolutely will not become a fighter, DBM Gohan is who he'll become. But I think the best adult Gohan would be like Future Gohan, and if I wrote a fanfic, that's what I'd make him become. And DBM should've had a gosh darn Future Gohan universe, because seeing him reunite with a successful Future Trunks would've caused All The Feels.

I'd love to see Gohan develop the mindset of Future Gohan.

I do honestly think not having Future Gohan in Multiverse was a waste. A universe where Trunks dies against the androids and Gohan goes SSJ2 and kills them & later Cell. Would have been a great moment to see him with Future Trunks and Goku from u18. He could also see how he would have turned out if he was able to live a normal life in another universe and see that he has a younger brother. Though if he did have a universe to himself people would complain that a universe would have been wasted just to have Future Gohan.
But Future Gohan is the Gohan the fanbase want from present Gohan. A man who spent majority of his life in a apocalyptic environment, he knows that fighting is his only choice and train to become stronger to protect/save his world. His personality and appearance shows a man who has been through ALOT of shit and will take no shit from no one. It's killed or be killed in his book and he won't fight for fun, he will fight to only protect. Even when the world would be in peace he would continue to train because he knows that there could be a future threat and he wants to be ready for anything.
He is also a badass without having a crazy transformation to make him one. Has a awesome haircut/super saiyan appearance, its cool to see him honor his father by wearing Goku's old gi and as Ashanark stated before, he even thinks of his father and what he would do if he was in a similar situation (probably gave Trunks the senzu because he was thinking of the time Goku gave his last senzu to him and Krillin rather keeping it himself.) He also fought the androids without a FUCKING arm and in the anime was holding his own! You know how more awesome a character becomes when they are still as strong or even fights better without a arm or leg. You know how satisfying it is to play as Future Gohan in DBZ BT3 and he uses his ultimate and he slams his opponent into the ground and shoots them with a ONE HANDED FUCK YOU KAMEHAMEHA! (Fanboy off) But yeah Future Gohan is hands down my favorite Gohan.

While it does suck that Future Gohan himself or a present counterpart with similarities is not in the tournament, but at least he does appear in general DBM. The fact the he trained underneath Vegeta in the HBTC, contributed to the battle against Mecha Frieza and King Cold, fought against Hirudegarn and Hoi, and killed Buu and Babidi's forces at least gives his character more bragging credentials than canon ever would.

Gohan is my favorite DB character. I like him in all his incarnations one way or another. If I had to pick a favorite than I would pick adolescence Gohan. DB isn't exactly known for its amazing characters. It would have been easy for Gohan to just be Goku, but he was his own character. He stopped training to enjoy peace, studied, and got to live the life he wanted after years of fighting life threatening battles. It was funny to see Gohan interact with people in his age group and try to live a normal high school life. I liked the Saiyaman antics. It showed he wanted protect or help people, which opened things up to bring more jokes and gags back into the series while keeping Gohan balanced. The anime did a good job expanding on the Saiyaman adventures and I liked his interactions with Videl and Goten.
When push came to shove Gohan would still fight to the bitter end like the same kid did before. His battles against Dabura and Majin Buu showed that. Gohan tried to destroy Buu in his shell even when things looked hopeless. That won me over. He kept going to the bitter end regardless of hopeless it looked. That is the essence of the character. Gohan doesn't like to fight, but will fight as hard as he can to protect the people he loves even if it is hopeless.
