I've never actually seen this thread made. So, here it is who do you consider to be the Worst Dragon Ball Villain? No Poll though I want your answers in the thread. I'll post my pick later.

Pilaf, he wasn't a threat then he's still not a threat now.
Oh and also he's the reason why GT happened fyi.

I agree, Pilaf is probably the worst villain of the franchise. Every villain after him was just plain better, from Tien to Tao to King Piccolo, who IMO was the best villain in the franchise.

Pilaf really didn't bring s*** to Dragonball. Tao, Tien, King Piccolo etc. Brought a lot to DB. Without Tao and his return near the end of DB we might never have gotten to meet Koren and Tien wouldn't have had such a great way to show how he's changed. King Piccolo and Piccolo Jr. Upped the f***ing conflict just by showing up and forcing Goku to use his head(literally against King Piccolo.) Hell the Red Ribbon Army served as training and made gathering the dragonballs harder for Goku and gave us a lot cool moments where Goku just goes to town destroying an evil army. Raditz, Nappa, Vegeta, The Ginyu Force and Frieza all helped push the narrative that Goku and friends were in a whole nother ball game AND expanded the DBZ universe. Oh and the Saiyans arrival explained why Goku was so unstoppable.

What's with all this Pilaf hate? He was amazing in his arc, and all further endeavors in Dragon Ball. He's a gag villain pure, and simple. And he was amazing. He's purified Toriyama humor. One of the three holy trinity of gags, up there with Purple, and Gotenks.

See you asked us who we think is the worst villain and by comparing them side by side the gag villains are going to be the first on the chopping block. S*** I could've said Oolong for that ONE episode where he was a bad guy for two seconds and nothing here would be different... As a fandom I think we'll throw the gag villains off a cliff first before the big ones.

I guess Japan just likes him? He should've stayed dead when Buu murdered him and they wished for only good people to become resurrected. Enacting world domination Red Ribbon style doesn't exactly sound "good" to me. Then again it's Porunga who did the reviving, and occasionally he's a troll about wishes.

Now my HONEST opinion: Android 19...
Why? This fat f*** just stood there watching as 20 impaled Yamcha, bent over as 20 fired freakin laser beams from his eyes to draw out the Z-warriors and then proceeded to be a punching bag for SS Vegeta.
S***, he only got the upper hand on Goku because the dumbass was having a heartattack...

Guldo was the worst villain for me. He had a chance to balance the series out by bringing back special abilities and powers that could make up for not being physically powerful, but in the end him being out of shape prevented him from doing anything cool with his time stopping powers. By the time he used his psychic freeze Vegeta just up and beheaded him. Guldo accomplishes nothing, but inadvertently reinforcing how its all about power and downplays skill and technique even further that locked the show into a permanent power scale that ultimately made everyone who is not a Saiyan obsolete.

We owe Toriyama's editors, Kazuhiko Torishima and Yu Kondo, a big thank you on this count. #19 and #20 were originally going to be THE primary villains of that story arc. #16-18 and Cell all came about because they kept telling Toriyama they needed something better than an old man and a clown, (and then later better than a boy and a girl) especially when the fans were coming off the high that was the Frieza saga.

Oh I've known that detail for awhile now and it really shows by throwing off the dbz villain formula: Minor villains show up, knew plot is given, minor villains die, new more powerful final boss shows up. It really went sideways during the android sagas.

King Cold. Dude was hyped up to be at LEAST as strong as Freeza, then gets one-shotted by Trunks.

King Cold. Dude was hyped up to be at LEAST as strong as Freeza, then gets one-shotted by Trunks. Actually he had a purpose: hyping Future Trunks' power and abilities. But yeah I would've loved a King Cold Saga where the current Z-warriors and F Trunks team up to fight M Frieza and King Cold.

Sorry if this post is a bit awkward to read. Wrote it up in a jiffy. Cell: The creation of Dr. Gero, and his computer’s work. Alright then before I begin I’m not focusing on Semi Perfect–Cell or Imperfect Cell considering I have absolutely no interest in Semi – Perfect Cell, and Imperfect Cell was a good idea, an idea which was squandered. Rather I’ll be focusing on his Perfect Form. Now, let’s begin. First things first for Cell. His Backstory. Now going back in time with Trunk’s Time Machine whom he killed why did Cell go back one year earlier? From what Cell stated the coordinates where already set and he just needed to set a button. It’s just one ginormous plot contrivance at best. Okay with that out of the way let’s get into the meat of it, his personality, and his relationship with Gohan. Cell and Gohan should never have fought in the current conditions of the Cell Games. Gohan should never have been the one to face off against Cell. Thematically Goku, Trunks, Kuririn, Vegeta, and fuckin’ Piccolo had a better reason to face off against Cell. For Goku it would be him finishing off the last of the Red Ribbon Army a task he failed at years, and years ago. For Trunks Cell represents everything he is against, The Ultimate Android the Child of Dr. Gero. Vegeta’s pure simple revenge, and that’s the same with Piccolo. What’s there with Gohan? I do admit on Cell’s end it works better, The Ultimate Android taken down by an 11-year-old. But, what’s there for Gohan? Cells never hurt anyone he cares; they’ve never interacted beforehand. It just doesn’t work. And now, to the meat of the problem. Cell’s just an absolute bore of a villain. His main motivation is just generic doomsday device (Which Majin Boo did a thousand times better which I might add). His personality is literally just the typical smug character who loses their cool the moment everything’s against them. Something which Freeza, Vegeta, Ten, King Piccolo, Piccolo, and every main Dragon Ball Villain did better than he did. His smaller character traits good fights, Piccolo’s cunningness (which magically just disappears when he transforms above his Imperfect Form.) are all apart of better characters.

Surprisingly, even the weaker villains of the Dragon Ball franchise were still pretty good characters overall. If push came to shove I'd probably throw either Raditz, King Cold or Babidi under the bus, but all three of those characters were still fine to me. There was never a villain that I didn't like, amazingly enough. I think Raditz was the most wasted potential though, as his familial relationship with Goku literally went nowhere and he was kind of pathetic when it all came down to it. The only reason he even seemed like a threat was because he was so overly powerful compared to the main cast, and then they all surpassed him in like a week. In hindsight, he was a pretty lame Saiyan too, pleading for his life and whatnot. All around I'd say he was probably the worst villain in the series.
Now if you're bringing in things like movies, GT and Super, then that's another thing entirely. I'll just give my thoughts on the worst villains from all three of those categories very quickly.
For the movies, there are some pretty strong contenders. Turles, Bojack, Broly, Garlic Jr., Dr. Wheelo, Chilled, Abo/Kado, and Hatchiyak/Raichi were all pretty bad villains I would say. I'm honestly kind of hard pressed to pick one that I would consider the worst... Probably either Turles or Chilled, both for different reasons. Turles was just a total waste, he could have had an interesting backstory that tied him to the original planet Vegeta and he could have had a lot to say to Vegeta if he had been in the movie, but ultimately he was just "evil Goku" which is extremely lame. He didn't really have a personality either, and it seemed like he had no end goal to speak of besides grow the tree of might. Chilled on the other hand had a personality, but it was a bad one. He was also terribly designed, and his name is just awful. It also doesn't help that the movie he comes from is just abysmal, probably the one of the worst things to come out of Dragon Ball if I'm being honest.
For GT... man, honestly the only villain who I could actually tolerate in the entire show was Omega Shenron, and I guess Baby when he wasn't being insufferable. Super 17 was such a terrible idea, and everything about him offends me on every level, so I'll just go with him as the worst GT villain. The concept for his creation was totally asenine, his design makes me wanna vomit, his personality was dogshit, and ultimately he accomplished nothing at all besides being an eyesore. Fuck Super 17.
I can't really do the same thing for Super though, since I haven't been watching it. I'll just go ahead and give my vote to Frieza's golden form, since it makes my eyes bleed every time I look at it. Honestly every time I see it I just hate it more and more, it makes me wonder how anyone could think that color scheme actually looked alright.

Turns out, Freeza was at a Space Lakers game beforehand (he's a big fan) and had his colors set to gold/purple for it. He forgot to change his settings when he got to Earth and just decided to roll with it.
