See, we all know this famous match up of different method fusions between Goku and Vegeta, and the debate of which is the stronger combination. Both have their benefits and both have their downfalls, and both have their own distinct move sets and ways of fighting, talking, and acting. Analyze all of this and decide who you believe is the strongest mash-up of the earths two strongest warriors.

Ignoring the Potara retcon from Super: Vegito, at best, Gogeta can match Vegito in raw power*, but can't match the output due to the Fusion Dance being a flawed fusion method, in trying to match Vegito's output, Gogeta would just frizzle out and have the fusion undone, Goku and Vegeta individually or even both at once would not be able to keep up with Vegito.
With the Potara retcon from Super**: Still Vegito, in this case, the Potara lasts an hour while the Dance lasts half an hour, which means that as long as they keep same or similar output, the Potara will still last twice as long as the dance, in fact, Vegito would be able to give out a much higher output without risking to frizzle out first, making him the clear winner.
*: While it's debatable if Gogeta is as powerful as Vegito, as Elder Kai's words can be intepreted in a number of ways, it is a given that Vegito is at bare minimum as powerful as Gogeta, possibly much more so, it's either 5 to 30 minutes of them beating each other back and forth until Gogeta frizzles, or 10 seconds of Vegito overpowering an inferior opponent.
**: I feel Super stuff shouldn't be discussed in the Z board, but still, for the sake of the argument.

I'd say Vegito since Potara is supposed to be the stronger of the two fusion methods.
Now if we're talking in terms of DBM, it's possible that U18 Gogeta could possibly more powerful than U16 Vegito or evenly matched with U16 Vegito since U16 Vegito has spent at least some of his time playing space cops with Bra, so U18 Goku and Vegeta might have had more time to train.
If we're talking in terms of DBS, I'd say Vegito since even tho they both have a time limit, Potara is the more powerful of the two fusion methods and it also has 2x the time limit.

Vegeto, as the user's ki doesn't have to match the other. Gogeta would be powerful, sure, but Vegeto could call on the full power of Goku and Vegeta off the bat, while Gogeta would be working with two of the same ki levels.

I think they are equal to be honest. I always took Old Kai's statements on potara being stronger or better fusion to be based on the potara being a easier fusion process and it always gives the user the strongest possible combination all the time, unlike the dance that requires precise movements and for the users to be similar in appearance and power to work. The dance was temporary while the earrings were permanent, which was another plus going for potara. I always figured Vegetto was deemed better than Gogeta for those reasons, but their overall power was basically the same. With the new retcon given in Super they are basically the same. The limited fusion time and the fact that too much power can reduce the fusion time down makes it pretty much the dance at this point.
