Well, I was in good terms that Gohan has never died, but I seemed to have slipped my lore. ( thanks Jason9000)
Well then who the hell hasn't died in all of DBZ who holds major or at most any importance to advancing the plot?

Anyone notice that Gohan, not once, has never died during the whole series of DBZ? I mean he freakin lived through every Saga and came out practically unscaved. Gohan survived Namek and threw a few shots at Frieza before leaving, and survived the planet blowing up because he was in Buu.
Gohan has been the true main character, Toriyama uses Goku because he has to.
Hopefully I didn't trigger anybody) I'm pretty sure he died on Earth when Kid Buu blew up the planet. Along with Piccolo, Goten, and Trunks. I remember Vegeta berating Goku for saving Dende, Bee, and Mr. Satan instead of their own kids.

Technically Vegito unless you count his defusion a 'death'. Gotenks also applies to the same rules.
Pan and Uub has also never died, though their roles being 'important' remain debatable in DBZ only. But two important characters who truly have moved the plot without dying is Beerus and Whis from Battle of Gods. They changed everything in DBZ, and pushed the power scaling to new heights.
Other candidates:
1. Tapion - Since his movie can actually fit in canon, one can infer he helped bring more importance to young Trunks and helped make Goku appear even more of a badass at killing Hirudegarn.
2. Fortuntellar Baba - Allows the human gang to see the saiyan events, brings Goku to Earth during the Buu saga, and transports Vegeta to Earth to battle against Buuhan. Sounds important enough right?
3. Kibito Kai - Just for the lolz. Naw he saved Goku and Vegeta from dying against Kid Buu while the Earth was blowing up. Very important indeed...
4. Garlic Jr - Just to showcase how badass Gohan and Piccolo is. Nothing more other than that.

But for real, Mr. Satan you sly Mo Fo. Mark "Hercule" Satan does have importance to the plot. He stole the glory from Gohan, which allowed the Son Family to keep their anonymity. Also he saved the Universe by convincing the majority of the citizens of Earth to donate their energy to Goku's Spirit Bomb. I'd say saving the entire Universe is pretty damn important. He's also the father of Videl, whom is the mother of Pan, and therefore in a sense is responsible for the existence of the one who would be impregnated with Pan, the last Saiyan, for the SSJG Ritual. In a sense, he saved the Earth another time just by having conceived Videl.

Speaking strictly from DBZ only:
- Mr. Satan, Fat Buu and Uub have never been killed--dependent on how one views the time rewinding in RoF. If you count it, then they died.
- Supreme Kai has also never died in DBZ
- Obviously Beerus and Whis have never died and technically those two are DBZ characters.

Do we also count Future versions of characters? Because Future Beerus died because of his life link to Future Supreme Kai. Whis also turned to stone which I guess counts as a death since he's stuck that way. Now that I think about it. Did they ever explain how a new Supreme Kai and god of destruction are appointed when the angel is turned to stone?

I got a good one. That guy that taught goku how to instant transmit. Pretty important person for advancing the plot. Don't think this challenge ever said it had to be a named character so I'm going with that guy ftw.

I'd say Future Beerus/Supreme Kai wouldn't count, since technically by the time they died we'd already transitioned to DBS. As of the last DBZ movie, RoF, they were alive and kicking.

Future Bulma then since DBS isn't counted. Also Future Yajirobe too and yes he's relevant to the plot because up until Future Cell (the one that eventually becomes Perfect Cell) arrived from the timeline where he killed Future Trunks, the timeline is the same as the main timeline and therefore he was relevant in the Saiyan Saga and at times in Dragon Ball.

There were plenty of people that weren't killed by the Androids and as long as he stayed on Korin's Tower, I think he'd have been safe from them there.

There were plenty of people that weren't killed by the Androids and as long as he stayed on Korin's Tower, I think he'd have been safe from them there. It honestly depends on what you consider canon, the DBS anime or the manga. Given that neither one is officially more canon than the other...interpretations can vary. Episode 56 of DBS shows both Goku and Future Trunks astounded that he was alive and convinced he had been killed by the Androids, with Yajirobe himself saying he was near death and would've died if Future Korin hadn't given him Earth's last senzu bean. So it's been established that Future Trunks, the bearer of doom and gloom future messages, thought Yajirobe had been killed with the others. This also ties in with the animated Trunks special, where this happens: The DBZ manga only says that "all of Earth's fighters were killed", aside from Future Trunks himself of course. Arguments could be made on if Yajirobe still counted as "one of Earth's fighters" or not, and the DBS manga doesn't have Future Yajirobe at all. So in that particular medium he could've been killed by the Androids, by Zamasu/Black, or maybe he's hiding in some cave somewhere. Not helping his case though is that Yajirobe, knowing what happens to his Future counterpart, declines to take part in the battle against the Androids and tries to escape via flying car. He gets shot down by #19/20 for his troubles, but if he didn't have foreknowledge of the events in question, would he have stayed and tried to make a difference as he did in the fight against Vegeta? Could this have led to a similar scene to the one above? Possibly.

So I guess maybe he doesn't count then. Honestly, the fact that the original question was even asked speaks volumes alone about DB. The fact that we're wondering if alternate future timeline versions of characters even count speaks further to it. Death isn't just cheap in DB. You could say it's a...bargain sale.
