I know he probably gets ad revenue from me visiting the main site
fionordequester How could he get money from non-existent ads ?
There are zero ads on the DBM site. No merchandising either. On purpose.
Salagir (and the DBM team) doesn't make any money in any way or form from DBM or its reader and fans.
The only things you will find are links from Salagir to promote others websites he created or that he likes.
but what about the forums?
Salagir and the DBM team members are not affiliated with anything that isn't the DBM website.
We have no idea who is running this forum and where the money from its ads is going to.
Not making money from DB or DBM is the sine qua non condition to enter and stay in the DBM Team.
All members of DBM are artists themselves and fierce defenders of copyrights. And also because if we stray from that road, the copyright holder of DB would have an incentive to shut down DBM. 100% of the illustrations on the DBM website are original illustrations drawn by members of the DBM team. (except for the Fanarts and fan comics, obviously, which are still original drawings, but from their respective creators). Zero drawings, illustration or pictures of the anime or video-games or any creations from the copyright holders on the DBM.
DBM mangas are sold under very strict limitations: only in Manga conventions where it is tolerated by the copyright holders. And all the content on the books are available for free on the website. Nobody as to buy a book to get exclusive content.
The team is so serious about it, that DBM became a non-profit association under the french law years ago.
Should the copyright owners doubt our honesty, we can can provide them on the spot the fully detailed accounting of DBM since day one, more than ten year ago.
The members of the Team make no money. Convention space, Transportation and hotels and costs are paid by the sells of the DBM mangas via the non-profit association, but the team members don't get even one cent on our private bank account, we are not paid for the time we take to go and meet our readers. Every income and outcome of money has to be justified and documented.
Going to a convention means 4 days of our private time. It is a lot of things : fun, meeting readers, work, but earning money it is not.
We are all between 30 and 50 years old, we have jobs and therefore we don't need to try and get money from our fans and readers, thank you very much, and DBM is a hobby and will always stay that way.
Once again :
-We don't want to.
-We don't need to.
Salagir actually loses money on DBM, since the website and the immense traffic it generate has to be financed on his personal money.
عمار Should any of you have any more questions on the subject, you're welcome to ask them during the next DBM Twitch
