This was a pretty enjoyable read of your rewrite, great job! The way you photoshopped each panel/page shows the movements you wanted, which I think was very fluent. Pacing didn't feel rushed and actually felt like Vegeta was pushing his limits in SSJ2, also the emphasis on transforming was a lot better.
I somewhat enjoy the dialogue and jokes the Z fighters make for this but it was a bit too much after reading it twice.

I have about 15 pages done. I have zero drawing talent so its basically photoshop work and using existing panels but I'm happy with it so far!
Iv been reading the comic since the Buu vs Bujin fight so it's been surprisingly to do an alternate version of one of my main anticipated fights. And the comics been a regular part of my life for so long. I was in high school when I started reading it!!
I did enjoy the real fight so I'm mostly doing this just for fun especially since the creators have giving their blessings!
Trying to work out the ending currently but il post it when its finished! I may do others if you guys end up being interested! Iv always wished Goku vs 17 was longer for example.
How do you post images on a thread btw? And tag people??

Overall I liked your version of the fight and think it is executed better than the actual chapters in a lot of areas. For example I do like how the duplicates do give Vegeta more trouble and having Cell taunt Vegeta more to show off he is holding back. I straight up prefer Vegeta using a ki blast to destroy Cell and expose the core over how he located it in the real chapter. The chapter is clear that Cell is holding back and trying to get Vegeta to show him his true power. However, at the same time I think you over do it. I understand you had problems with the actual chapter not explaining things, but in trying to make it super clear and obvious for readers you went into over explaining almost every move. The early pages it was fine and on par with what we have seen on DB fights.
Halfway through it starts overwhelming the fight. Like for example Gohan doesn’t need to tell us this what Cell did with him. You have trust the audience will get this from fight itself. I am afraid you have to leave some things up to fan interpretation other wise it an tend to feel like over explaining and could lose your audience. Remember this is a DBM fight. If this was released one page at a time this would most likely get complaints of too much talking and not enough fighting or how it is obvious Cell is holding back and people criticizing you for holding their hand too much like they are an idiot.
I don’t think this, but can easily see people would complain about that of this was released three pages at a time during a week like DBM chapters do. It is a tough balancing act. People either flay you for leaving too much to fan interpretation or flay you for over explaining things. Depending on the media you you use can impact this. For example if this was no visual representation of the fight against you could get away with having more analysis from characters during the fight and have it feel natural. Manga form needs more balance between visual and dialogue.
I think another way to have help make it not feel too repetitive is by spreading the comments to other universes not just U18. For example U12 Trunks could have been the one questioning if Vegeta can go further than level 2 or not over U18 Piccolo. It gets the same point across, but still feels different since it is a different character questioning it. On the more positive side I do like seeing Vegeta struggle more since it shows Cell is gradually turning up his power and giving Vegeta a harder time. Vegeta thinking Cell is playing around with him is also a good addition since it shows Vegeta has a plan in mind rather than it feeling like stubborn refusal of showing his true to anyone but Goku.
Vegeta destroying the core after it was exposed never bothered me to be honest. I was more bothered by how Vegeta found the core than him being able to destroy it. I feel like once it is out of the body there should be no problem destroying it and Cell dying. Mostly because I prefer Cell dying because he egged his opponent on so he can get a better fight feels better to me, but that is just my preference. Otherwise I really enjoyed reading this chapter and felt it made up for the parts I felt the actual chapter was lacking in for the most part.

As I announced a few days ago, I did rewrite the quarter finals fight between Vegeta and Cell to make it way more satisfying for everybody. I tried to stay true to DBM as much as possible, which includes a lot of the dialogues, but I gave it an overall new look. At first I tried to draw it myself, but the sketches didn't really convey what I wanted to show and for full blown panels there was not enough time. So I photoshopped it together from DBM and DBZ pages (please excuse the bad quality of my pictures, but I couldn't find hq pictures of DBZ on the internet, so I had to scan my own and very old mangas). I hope, I have acchieved my goal to make the fight more interesting and visuably more pleasurable (although I can't take credit for it, since I didn't draw it). I hope you have as much fun reading it as I had creating this. Please give me feedback. Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 Page 5 Page 6 Page 7 Page 8 Page 9 Page 10 Page 11 Page 12 Page 13 Page 14 Page 15 Page 16 Page 17 Page 18 Page 19 Page 20 Page 21 Page 22 Page 23 Page 24 Page 25 Page 26 Page 27 Page 28 Page 29 Nicely done and well edited, it had to have been a pain stitching this together. A little exposition/dialogue heavy as overs have said so could cut a little bit of that, but it’s nice to actually hear more from U18 so I don’t mind it too much. Very impressive especially with English not being your first language from what I read earlier. Dare say I like it much more than DBMs version because it seems like an actual serious fight, as it should have been for being one of the last tournament matches imo. Vegeta even had to somewhat drop his cool guy attitude for a minute. Something he hasn't been forced to do at all in DBM yet. I like the ending much better as well, easier to swallow Cell losing in this fashion. In a straight fight him being able to kill a weaker Vegeta obviously but losing because of it being a tournament setting and Vegeta being smart enough to take advantage of that. With Cells arrogance still leading to him losing to a weaker but more calculated and older Vegeta. Cell treating Vegeta like he was the same character from the Cell saga being a big mistake on his part. He really should have payed a little more attention to how U18 Vegeta acted in his earlier fights but it fits with his character imo in your version and DBMs even. No need for that weird core grab thing Salagir went with, without exposing it first anyway like you did here. This is sorta similar to how I was thinking this fight was going to go down actually. I'm glad I could somewhat meet your expectations. It's really nice to read, that people enjoy "my" work, so it wasn't wasted time on my side. And yes, it was a pain in the ass to cut out some of the pictures. Also I had to edit a lot of pics to remove Majin Signs, blood and torn clothes, when they shouldn't be torn at that point. But I'm sorry that I couldn't edit Ssj3 Vegeta to have the same bruises and cuts as before.

What almost everyone criticizes is the over exposition and I do get that. I've already explained, why I put emphasis on certain things, but I could live with cutting a few panels out. The problem is, that I had to work with a limited amount of existing panels. If I had made the storyboard completely by myself, it would have been easier to make everything match perfectly. But sometimes there were just free spaces that needed to be filled. So that's why I put so much reaction shots in there. If I ever draw my own comic (which I doubt will ever happen), I will consider all of your advices. How do you post images on a thread btw? And tag people?? I'm excited to read your version. If you want to tag people, you have to use the reply function instead of the quick reply. Then you have a toolbox in the top middle of your page. There you find that sign with the @ symbol. Hovering the cursor on it, it says "Insert User Link". Click that and type in the name of the people you want to tag. In the same toolbox there's that symbol of a picture. But posting a picture is a bit harder. You have to post it somewhere else on the internet, then copy the pictures adress and then insert it here. So when you have the picture adress of the picture you want to post, go to the thread, click on the symbol and then insert the adress. The picture should be displayed then.

Just read this. It's pretty good! And I applaud the effort. As others said, I think there's too much exposition. But it does show the power difference far better, having SSJ2 Vegeta struggle a lot more. If I was going to make my own within the restraints of the fight, I'd probably steal some of your ideas and merge them with the original's and my own. Though, I'm not sure I'd have the patience to find appropriate panels like you did, haha.
Also, it is actually so cool to see this sort of thing in general if I'm being honest. Alternate versions of the fights made by fans? Awesome.

Alternate versions of the fights made by fans? Awesome. Well, it's not like I thought what I would need on the first panel first page, search for a fitting image, scan it, cut it and paste it in there and then go on to repeat that for the next panel. I went through DBM and DBZ to search for panels that might potentially fit at some place. Then I made separate folders to bring order to the chaos. So I had a folder named "Vegeta unharmed" and one "Vegeta harmed", because for the early stages I needed pictures of Vegeta with his clothes intact, but as the battle progressed, his clothes came torn apart. It wasn't that hard for Cell, since he basically wasn't hurt at all. I also had a folder for reaction shots. And sometimes I arranged the panels in a way, that there was still space for another panel, but nothing would fit in there, so I put a reaction shot of the spectators. That's why there are so many ...

I would have gladly accepted this version as official.
It just feels more natural. People that complain about exposition haven't read Baki, Kengan or other fighting manga.
