So I finally finished the Vegeta VS Cell fight I was working on! I am not great at drawing so this basically involved photoshopping old pages and some I took from Deviant Art. So disclaimer none of this was drawn by me. I was actually pretty happy with how the real fight turned out. But I figured it would be fun to do an alternate version of this fight based on some thoughts I had.
I did have a few goals with this fight.Show the banter with Cell and Vegeta. Show how Vegeta caring for Bra has helped his growth. Show that Cells desire to improve for the finals(and beyond), and his arrogance would ultimatly lead him to lose the match. Finally I wanted to show that Vegeta WAS taking a risk with his strategy. Like if something had gone differently or Cell didn't play around Cell easily could have won. But Vegeta took the risk to play on Cells arrogance and it paid off. Because he needed to do something to have a chance against Cell. Finally I did a BIT of a different ending, just an idea I had that I thought might work.
I did want to give SSJ3 Vegeta a slightly longer fight. And have Cell do more. But it was hard to justify within the story. Overall im happy with how it turned out tho!
Also i've never done anything like this before, so I want to know all the positives and negatives you guys have! If its well received I might re-make some other fights. For example I always wished Goku vs Cell was longer. This is all done with love tho. Knowing the creators gave their blessing also helped motivate me to atleast bring my vision to life.

That was enjoyable a fight. I liked the reading it. You made it clear Cell was holding back on to see what Vegeta could do. SS3 was used longer for this fight as well. I liked how the used some other universes to comment on the fight like U12, U16, and U13 to spread it out to more than U18. Goku was used good too. While he still commented on the fight he had much more knowledge and was used to set certain things up in the fight which work better. For example I loved how used Goku to explain to the readers that Vegeta had been working on Instant Transmission for a while. The ending made sense to Vegeta, showcased his growth, and showed him tricking Cell in a clever way. I can see Vegeta being mistrustful of Buu especially after Bra was born would ask for help in a technique that could stop him and Roshi teaching him Mafuba is a nice touch. Of course Cell would take the technique head on thinking Vegeta would use a blast as a chance to try to get a zenkai. I would have preferred this the chapter we got honestly.
The only real criticism I could think of is some images used, but I understand you were trying to edit this page the best you can and how difficult that is. Good read.

While I obviously stand behind Salagir's version ( I approved it 100% before RMR suggested that the zensu is a fake, which I also approved, and I am a consistent person*), I enjoy a lot those alternate versions, because it shows that : - Storyboarding is where the magic happens ! Put an image or a text a bit earlier or later, remove some, add some, change some and the meaning and the reading experience totally changes ! - not just the intents but also the personality of the author comes through, intentionally or not. - There are was many alternative versions of this fight as there are people ready to use a image editing program ! This is a great exercice, and while there are no wrong way to criticise DBM as long as it is done in a polite way (and you guys do that so we love you for that), alternate pages is the way I prefer, because I relate the most to it  Solus عمار Son Pan Xeno Black godjacob supergojita3 oung Xman321 You can see the changes I made to Ume's pages (add Grey surfaces + add backgrounds + mirroring some images) at 00h29m39s : The totality of my changes in the french version at 05h16m16s : (Set the reading speed at X2, to get the "show, don't tell" effect and avoid getting bored by the long french talk  *That being said I also came up (too late) with an alternative page proposal after the reader's reactions. Wow, nice trick there having Vegeta learn the Mafuba and luring Cell there. Also better than the original fight. Though one has to wonder, why didn't Piccolo (who knows the technique) use it against Majin Bra? It "technically" worked on Zen Buu after all so power can't be the issue.
Also, here you guys are working on this while I am doing a Zen Buu vs XXI parody and already did like Vegeta vs Cell with 3 endings.

And yes Ouv I get exactly what your saying. I think it's similar to how the edits in a movie can make or break it. Sometimes you look and deleted scenes that completely change a movie and make it better or worse!
I always love seeing on Twitch some alternate drafts or added pages!

I also like your version of the fight. It shows a lot of cool things and I guess, you have achieved what you wanted to. Cell showed off a new technique (although it finally amounted to nothing, so I guess it wasn't necessary at all), Vegeta used a clever technique to defeat Cell. It works very well on the first glance and from now on I'm being nitpicky, but in hindsight, using the mafuba instead of another technique doesn't sound practical. In Naruto you could confuse your opponent by making the wrong finger signs (don't know if that ever happened or if it was indeed impossible to use wrong finger signs) but in Dragonball no one ever cared for the name of the attack. So even if Vegeta claims it was a final flash, why would Cell assume that he used an energy beam? I believe that in this situation Cell would be cautios and just react to whatever Vegeta threw at him, independent of what Vegeta is shouting. However, I guess, it still works because you made Vegeta announce that it would be a super strong attack, so yeah ... I can let that slide.
Overall solid work! It's also funny how we both kept the scene where Vegeta splits Cell and Cell regenerates 3 juniors.

Thank you!! Yes I definitely agree I wasn't sure if it was something that would work 100% of the time in universe but I wanted to see if I could pro ide enough reasons to let it slide! Honestly yeah that opening scene is one of my fav parts of the fight. Vegeta has to know it would do nothing, so its really just an awesome fuck you moment to Cell 🤣 |

Did Cell lose because he toyed? If he had regenerated as one Cell instead of splitting his power into four, wouldn't he have won easily against an SSJ2?

Yeah I took it as he was more focused on trying to push Vegeta to SSJ3 at that point. Because he wanted the challenge and because he was trying to improve every fight so he could fight the way stronger opponents in the other bracket. |

Great reimagining of Cell vs Vegeta. While I'm in the camp of thinking Cell should've defeated Vegeta in DBM, I think your version of the fight actually works well enough for having Vegeta win the fight. What we got in DBM felt too much like Vegeta defeated Cell because Salagir needed Vegeta to move onto the next round so we could have the obligatory Goku vs Vegeta fight in the next round.

Great edit! Thousands of times better than the shitty tournament fight. Admittedly I was still wishing Cell would win, but having Vegeta beat him with the mafuba is a good way to respect both of them, showing Vegeta's craftiness and enginuity, while having Cell lose to something he couldn't have predicted, and still acknowledging that he's stronger would've won in most circumstances
