I chose "other". And Vegeta's secret is: Nothing! xD
He doesn't have anything to hide! He's a big mouth!

I also voted other. I'm thinking it's an upgrade to SSJ3 that stabilizes its power or something. We'll find out next round!

He uses the multi-form technique and fuses with himself!

What if it's actually magic abilities that manages to compliment his fighting style? I think DBM clearly has taken a big shift away from physical power into magical abilities. So for Goku and Vegeta to ever be relevant would likely entail that they also have some magical abilities even if it's much more limited than say, what Gast, XXI or Buu has to offer. Of course it could also be a new transformation but who knows, maybe the transformation could be magic based as well.
It's also possible that Vegeta found his own way of unlocking the Mystic form, I think it might even be likely because the only thing we know of that's better than SSJ3 is the Mystic powerup. No doubt Vegeta would aim for that.

He doesn't have anything to hide! He's a big mouth! I doubt that very much since Vegeta still lectures Cell about SSJ3's flaws while using it against him, to insult Cell that he isn't "worth" his true power. Granted Vegeta got very lucky on that one and it's kind of BS he won that easy.

I think Vegeta will have developed a pseudo Mystic form. It may not be exactly like Gohan's, like for example maybe instead of modifying his base form to harness his full power without Super Saiyan transformations it modifies his Super Saiyan 2 form to do the same and not put such a strain on his body like Super Saiyan 3 does. Vegeta developing a new technique to mimic what Gohan can do just makes more sense to me for how Vegeta can have a new form while Goku doesn't. If it is something like Vegeta just mastered SS2 than Goku would have done that years ago and wouldn't even bother using SS3 anymore. Goku doesn't usually come up with his own techniques, so it would make sense character wise for why Goku might not think create a new form to replace SS3.

a yardrat version of mystic.
yardrat has bootleg kaikai, and they might have bootleg mystic. vegeta was gushing about gohans power, and with it beign a technique and not magic or a transformation (maybe) he can still just train the old fashioned way.
I'm guessing its ssj3 with less drawbacks, but not quite mystic power that is beyond ssj3.

In the canon you have three forms above SSJ1:
Ascended: Essentially a bulkier SSJ1. Ultra: Even bulkier SSJ1 but slower. SSJ2: Goes without saying.
I didn't include FPSSJ1 because that's still SSJ1 but mastered.
My take is that Vegeta found something else above SSJ2 and what we know as SSJ3 is not the "true" SSJ3. He found a new, "true SSJ3" form that works the same way SSJ2 works in comparison to SSJ1: full power up without drawbacks.
But he will still lose to Goku because we'll learn during their fight that Goku also found about it and made it even BETTER! lol

I think it consumes more energy, like ussj. maybe it isn't "slower" but the muscles make some movements more difficult. individual arm and leg movements are off, but flight speed is faster.

Never got into the fundamentals of flight in DBZ but if all you need to fly is your ki then it makes sense for USSJ to fly faster. The muscles become comically inflated though. It'd have been funny to see Goku fight in that form. ASSJ consumes more energy than SSJ1. I think Goku also mentions it. But it's in fact the next level of SSJ1. It's just that it became obsolete quickly because Perfect Cell was vastly stronger. Cell would outlast and defeat Goku in that form due to the strain.

Vegeta is bluffing and his secret is he just gave in and decided to start using SS3. He’ll just rest in between moves to make it last longer similar to how U12 Trunks uses USS now.

Starting to think that too. Why wouldn't Vegeta use that newfound power against Zen Buu, probably the most dangerous foe they will ever face?

Vegeta isn't saving the Majin Punisher move here to fight Goku. If Vegeta was hiding his true power then he is likely still hiding it. Vegeta using the Majin Punisher move against Buu is a good call except maybe he and Goku did it too early and now Buu can just outsmart them.

Old post I know but I can't help but bring DBZ: Legacy of Goku II into this. One of my favorite GBA games that did the whole Ascended SSJ/Ultra SSJ brilliantly. A masterclass in adapting anime to videogame (before Kakarot came out). In that game, after Vegeta and Trunks leave the HTC, their SSJ changes, it becomes exactly like in the original work, they feel like a tank, lol. You fight Cell with these forms and it's hard because they're so slow. After Trunks loses, the game reverts their SSJ1 to the regular form and you unlock SSJ1 for Gohan (as in DBZ). That doesn't prove anything. It doesn't make sense for Vegeta to unleash his full power yet because it wouldn't be enough against Zen Buu anyway. But I do think that Vegeta will still be upstaged by Goku because Goku also knows how to do it. Vegeta being able to SSJ3 and even learning IT is a subtle nod from Salagir to Vegeta's character development throughout the Buu saga. The Vegeta that accepted Babidi's Majinization would never have done it, but the reformed Vegeta would.
