So yeah, been thinking over the series as a whole for a while and just well...anyone else annoyed at how little a presence Bulma ended up playing in the story of Bra? I mean you would barley know she is supposed to be Bra's mother beyond her origin story mention given how little presence she has even in the multiple Universe 16 Specials we've gotten. Far as the narrative is concerned Bra may as well have a single parent in Vegito which I feel is kinda a disservice to an OG staple of the franchise.
IDK I just feel someone like Bulma would have more importance in the development of someone like Bra than what we've been shown.

I don't really think Universe 16 specials have done a good job exploring the Son-Brief Family in real depth in general to be honest. For example we do not know why Bra thinks if she doesn't have the Son surname that it means she's not part of Gohan's family. We learned Bulma doesn't like Bra wanting to be a Son and it is a iffy subject, but the special it is introduced in doesn't really expand anymore than that. Bra's relationships aren't explored that much beyond Vegetto, Gohan, and Pan in the comic proper. Bulma doesn't really get a lot of screen time in those specials and her relationship with Bra is barely touched on. U16 is in a weird place where it feels overmined, but at the same time it doesn't feel like we gone as deep as we could with the universe and how the characters were impacted.
I do wish family and friends from other universes came to watch. Bulma could have been a good addition to U16 and U18 spectators to give readers a good idea on her relationships with Bra for example. U16 Bulma and U16 Chi-chi were both there we could see tension that has built up over the years between the families and explore more angles to Vegetto thing. I get the feeling that even though Vegetto and Chi-chi have both expressed no interest in each other romantically that Bulma is really insecure with Vegetto splitting his time between families and fears Vegetto possibly leaving her for Chi-chi the same way she used to fear Yamecha leaving her for someone else. There is a lot more to explore with U16. I wonder if we will ever get more of that in the future.

Bulma didn't have a problem with Vegeta's past so she probably got along with Bra. To her knowledge, Bra only struggled with controlling her power which wasn't something Bulma could help with. The only thing we know of that she disagreed with was Bra calling herself part of the Son family. That might be due to relating more to that side of the family with Gohan and Pan. We probably won't be getting any more U16 specials so it might only be in the novel if that's ever continued.

She's been around since the very beginning of Dragon Ball (literally one of the very first characters introduced and she was more relevant than Oolong and sometimes even Yamcha).
Makes sense I suppose as to why she didn't come given how dangerous each foe had kept getting (I mean you went from Red Ribbon Army all the way to Buu) plus she has always been a spoiled rich brat.

All the comparisons to Vegeta keep getting made with Bra, but a lot of people overlook how she also shares many characteristics with Bulma. Insulting people, treating them poorly, and being selfish are all things we saw Bulma do in her younger years. To be fair Bulma didn’t really mature out of them until the Android/Cell saga of the series when she became a mother herself. I can see Bulma’s influence on Bra as a character even if we do not see a lot of their relationship. I do like the bits we got in U16 special where Gohan taught Bra to master Super Saiyan. There is a lot that can be inferred. Bulma getting frustrated with Vegetto leaving their daughter after things got difficult and muttering not again just says a lot. It really feels like Bra is desperate to try to get Vegetto’s attention. It doesn’t necessarily mean Bra has a bad relationship with Bulma at all. She just want her dad’s attention too, but combine Goku’s wondering off and carefree attitude with Vegeta’s not being openly affectionate and short temper and you get a parent who isn’t around or showing affection freely. I can understand how Vegetto’s actions contributed to Bra’s worse qualities. I can see how it would put a strain on Briefs family unit if Vegetto bails every time Bra gets too much for him and leaves it on either Bulma or Gohan to deal with. Even if Bulma doesn’t have major issues with Bra it can be stressful having to explain to her child that her dad cares and loves her while also dealing with her own issues on Vegetto’s behavior. U16 really has fascinating dynamic that can make for a great narrative. U16 Bra has so much potential to be a great character. It hurts when I think we get a misstep with her.

When did Bulma cheat?
Anyone who doesn't like the idea of Yamcha cheating on Bulma being the reason she broke up with him in Saiyan Saga DECIDES TO FLIP it on it's head and just claim she was lying about him cheating on her when she was actually the one who cheated on him. They use things like Bulma swooning over every hot guy she sees in early Dragon Ball as evidence to support this. I think they might also use her later breaking up with Yamcha again so she can be with Vegeta.

Anyone who doesn't like the idea of Yamcha cheating on Bulma being the reason she broke up with him in Saiyan Saga The reason she broke up with him is because Toriyama wanted to create another hyper-saiyan. That's literally the only reason why Vegeta & Bulma are a thing. DECIDES TO FLIP it on it's head and just claim she was lying about him cheating on her when she was actually the one who cheated on him. Because the idea that the guy who has phobia of girls cheated on the woman who throw herself on every guy she see as "handsome" is ridiculous. And The fact Yamcha stayed single because he still has a fear of women proves that Toriyama throws Yamcha under the bus just so Bulma doesn't appear as the hoe she is. They use things like Bulma swooning over every hot guy she sees in early Dragon Ball as evidence to support this. I think they might also use her later breaking up with Yamcha again so she can be with Vegeta.
I mean...isn't it a valid evidence? You just cannot deny the fact it did happen. It makes much more sense for Bulma to cheat on Yamcha than the opposite. But it's not the case, and it's only because Toriyama says so. Personally, I don't give a shit about pairings, especially in a show like Dragonball. You want to create one of the most disgusting pairing in the history of fiction so you can create one of the best characters in DBZ? Fine, go ahead. But please! Don't throw Yamcha under the bus so you can justify that horrible woman poor choice of men... And going back to the original topic, I can summarize it with Vegeta's comment on the last panel of page 88:

Yeah, I get the out of Universe reason for why Toriyama had them break up.

You mean the guy with a former phobia of girls? In the manga apparently he'd become popular amongst girls at school and in the anime he'd become popular with girls because he was a famous baseball player. I could very much see someone who had little experience with girls due to a former phobia of them ending up cheating on his girlfriend after he becomes popular with girls and they are likely constantly hitting on him.
They use things like Bulma swooning over every hot guy she sees in early Dragon Ball as evidence to support this. I think they might also use her later breaking up with Yamcha again so she can be with Vegeta.

I will admit that her so openly swooning over other guys isn't a very good thing to do as a girlfriend, but it doesn't necessarily prove she was cheating on him. People in relationships can still appreciate the beauty of someone of the opposite sex, though they should probably not be open about seeing them as attractive while dating and instead should keep it to themselves while in a relationship. So yes that definitely makes Bulma not a bad girlfriend to Yamcha, but the very fact that she isn't a good girlfriend and is openly admitting she's attracted to other men is something that I could see causing Yamcha to end up cheating on her with one of the many girls that is hitting on him due to his explosion in popularity amongst girls.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Yamecha cheated on Bulma the way she treated him at times though. Cheating is not always about not keeping it in their pants, but sometimes making an emotional connection with someone when they feel their current isn’t giving them what they need. I have no idea if Bulma ever cheated on Yamecha, but wouldn’t be Tom surprised if she did. Yamecha and Bulma drifting apart makes sense. They were teenagers when they got together.
I wouldn’t say Bulma’s actions as a teenager makes her a bad parent or she couldn’t teach her children how to be good people.

This is a topic I've been wanting done for a while now. Salagir acts like everything wrong with Bra is Vegito's fault. When he doesn't even spend hat much time with her. What has Bulma been instilling into her?
Either way, throwing either parent under the bus for Bra's own actions always rubbed me the wrong way. Bra is her own person as far as i'm concerned. And unless she was being daily beaten, her flaws have nothing to do with Vegito, or even Bulma tbhwy.

Has there even been any interactions between Bra and Bulma in either the webcomic or the novels? I can't think of a single one. She interacts with Gohan more than anyone else, with Vegetto being second, Trunks third, and Goten fourth.
