As we are nearing the end of the tournament we are bond to start getting more answers for XXI, or at least I hope we do. The character has proven divisive with how he has fought in the tournament so far. I think it is fair to say a lot of fans were disappointed in how his match with U4 Buu turned out. Many were expecting to see an epic battle between them. The reality was he won the same way he always does, one move win scheme. Only difference is Buu was able to get out of it fairly easily, which cements even XXI cannot hope to compete with Buu.
We have a new thread started by drewsaga discussing the possibility that XXI might not even be a magician and it is all his mysterious partner. That theory sounds plausible to me, since everything we have seen him do in his matches are the results of his requests. Shoutout to drewsaga for bringing this possibility up. This got me thinking if when everything is said and done that XXI might not be a worthwhile character once the mystery is gone. Since Buu is gone and likely not returning to the story it seems like XXI is the best candidate for the threat to the multiverse. I am hoping his history and motivations can make this character standout, especially if he turns out to be the main villain of the entire comic.
I want to hear other people’s thoughts on this. Am I just being paranoid or does anyone else afraid after the mystery is gone we are going to be left underwhelmed by XXI?
