I was wondering how applying the same formula would result on all the DBZ movies that didn't make to DBM canon, mainly placing them in the possible timeskips between main events, but also trying to not contradict any statements from the manga. I have a general gist on what I want to do with all movies, but I'm starting with: MOVIE 1: Dead Zone (Villain: Garlic Jr.)
The special starts a few days before Raditz's arrival on Earth. Son Goku was returning from a hunting trip when he meets with a familar face: Yamcha. They catch up on what they've been doing since the 23rd Budokai Tournament: Goku comments on how he got married to Chi-Chi and had a son he named after his Grandpa, while Yamcha had a recent fight with Bulma again. Goku comments on how he has gathered the 2-Star, 4-Star and 6-Star recently and jokingly remarks that his friend could gather the rest and wish Shenron fixed their relationship, but that he can't grant the same wish twice and those two fight a lot.
Goku invited Yamcha to eat with his family, but as they reach Son's house they see a knocked down Chi-Chi and Ox King. Goku runs to aid his wife and asks who attacked them. Chichi responds that a blue-skin demon (Nikki) barged into the house and took all the Dragon Balls and Gohan with him, muttering "the kid could also be useful".
Tenshinhan also appears in the house, describing on how while him and Chiatzou were busy training, a strange creature (Sansho) has entered their home attacked Launch ( who was living with the duo as Krillin mentions in the manga as it's shown in anime filler) and stole the Dragon Ball they had found some time ago. Tien told Chaotzou to stay with Launch in case the demon returned while he travelled in search of Goku, hoping he knew more about this attacker, but Kami communicates to all present warriors the culprit behind these attacks: Garlic Jr. and his demonic henchmen.
Mostly on beat with the original backstory, but also using some elements from the Garlic Jr. filler arc: 300 years ago, Garlic was the rival for the position of new God alongside the Nameless Namekian, but he was rejected due to the evil intentions that the Guardian of Earth felt within. Furious, the demon gathered all the demons in the world and orquestrated an attack against God in a crucial moment: the passing of the Makyo star, which creates an eclipse between the Sun and Earth that allows all members of the Demon Clan an incredible boost in strength. The Nameless Namekian fought against these forces but got overwhelm, but the Guardian could defeat Garlic and all his forces and vanish them all by opening a link to the Demon World. Before the breach between worlds closed, Garlic cursed the God of Earth and sweared revenge, no matter how many centuries it took.
Kami stayed ever vigilant for his return, but during his short absence from his post 5 years ago, when he was present in the 23rd Budokai Tenkaichi tournament and trapped by Piccolo Jr. , the reincarnation of his old enemy, Garlic Jr, took this opportunity to come back to Earth and lay undetected for years. The time he chose to strike is no coincidence either: in this same day, the Makyo Star will approach Earth again after 300 years, and with a combination of Dragon Balls to make himself inmortal, Kami fears he'll become unstoppable. Goku wants to contact Bulma and the others for further help, but Earth's guardian says there is no time and they must departure now to Garlic's castle in the Crimson before he gets his wish. Goku quickly equips the Power Pole and summons the Nimubs Cloud, and the warrior trio flies to the location at max speed.
In the castle, Garlic Jr. marvels at the 6 gathered balls and Sansho comments that Ginger should be returning with the remaining ball. Elsewhere, Piccolo was fighting the third remaining henchmen, Ginger, whom he easily defeats but lets him to run away with the Dragon Ball to he guides him to their hiding place. The Demon leader inquires about the kidnapped child, but Nikki comments that during the retrieval of the 4-Star Ball, the kid had shown inmense potencial by dealing a strong hit on him out of sheer rage to protect his mom. Garlic Jr. agrees with that statements, sensing Gohan has an inmense power within him, and decides to make him one of his new servant.
Ginger gets to the Castle with the last Dragon Ball, but so do Goku and his allies in the horizon. Garlic Jr. can feel them approaching , and knowing the Makyo star will soon reach Earth's orbit, he orders his henchment to put away the child and attend to their visitors. The demon trio appear in front of the Earthlings and power up to a bulkier form, so each warrior chooses to confront one of the demons.
As the reincarnaton summons Shenron and as he wishes for inmortality, Kami himself comes down from the sky and ORDERS SHENRON TO NOT GRANT THE WISH. Shenron obliges and returns to a dormant state, with the balls remaining active. Piccolo also makes its way to the castle who, as the evil half who shares memories with the Nameless Namekisn, wants a rematch for how Garlic humilliated him in a battle, and joins forces with his other half. Garlic Jr. vs Kami and Piccolo Jr., a battle between reincarnations of the original rivals.
Goku moves to where Gohan is kept while dodging Sansho's assaults, who then changes stragedies and goes to harm the child himself. Knowing he won't reach in time, Goku extends his Power Pole to push the unaware Sansho out of the Castle, saving his son.
Yamcha takes on Nikki, who slightly overpowers him on his transformed state, but as Nikki reveals a internal weapon in form of a longsword, Yamcha mentions how he used to fight with a blade like that before meeting Bulma. With a well executed Wolf Fang Fist, Nikki loses the grip on his sword, and Yamcha takes the opportunity to grab the weapon and slash through his defense, leaving the demon injured on the ground.
Tenshinhan goes for Ginger, who fights with two swords he can also pull off his body. This results in a more even match that eventually reaches a standpoint where Tien grabs both swords with his hands. Ginger grins thinking he is on the upperhand, but Tenshinhan then grows another pair of hands and pummels his ungarded opponent until he is unconscious.
While the last two fights are still ongoing, the Namekian duo keeps their brawl against the reincarnation. Kami is eventually outclassed Garlic Jr., but Piccolo Jr. comes out of top against his opponent, pushing him away. Goku joins the frey and asks Kami to look after his son while he takes his place, while the demon lets a maniacal laugh: the Makyo star has begun eclipsing Earth, and the demon transforms for an exponencial growth on his power. Feeling his inmense ki, Goku and Piccolo remove their weighted clothes to fight with their full strength. The coreography of this fight remains the same as the movie, down to the Kamehameha that knocks Garlic Jr. to some debris. Goku and Piccolo suspect the fight isn't over, at the same moment Garlic Jr. releases himself from the rubble, angrier than ever.
Desperated and out of options, Garlic Jr. pulls out his last resort: he materializes a dark crystal that ascends into the air, which seems to break the sky with a portal. Garlic Jr. has summoned the Dead Zone in an attempt to imprison all of his opposition so no one can get between him and his wish for inmortality and world domination. The vaccum created by the technique starts to devour everything, dragging the defeated demons back to their home dimension, while Tien and Yamcha can barely fight the effect and Kami protects the Dragon Balls and Gohan.
Goku and Piccolo are left as the last warriors capable of fighting Garlic Jr, who quickly come up with a final stragedy. While Piccolo distracts the Serpant with a ki barrage, Goku runs over to him while charging a Kamehameka. The unexpected force of the blast causes Garlic Jr. to lose his balance and pushes him inside his own technique while Goku is thrown in the opposite direction. The Dead Zone closes alongside his caster and the sky returns to normal, while the Dark Crystal falls next to Kami. The pure half of the Nameless Namekian comments on the similarities of this technique with the Mafuba and how useful it could have been against Piccolo Daimao 300 years ago. He even thinks to himself that his evil half was not as different as Garlic too, and he wonder if the reincarnation of Piccolo is really as evil as Garlic Jr displayed here.
Kami congratulates the fighters on a well fought battle for Earth's sake and he lets them the Dragon Balls so they can make a wish if they want, returning to the Lookout. Goku suggests Yamcha if he really wants to wish for his reconciliation with Bulma, but his friend declines, not really thinking she's that mad anymore. Goku takes the same balls he had gathered before and he adjusts the 4-Star Dragon Ball in Gohan's hat again. He promises to distribute the rest after the party at Kame House and he leaves with his son on the Nimbus Cloud. This meeting is first mention for the Tien and Yamcha, the first not surprised by this due to his hermit lifestyle, while Yamcha is sad Bulma still keeps a grudge against him. Showing their friendship, the three-eyes invites the former bandit for a drink on his house with Launch.
THE END.
This is a fun rewrite, makng sure the important battles and plot points of the movie were still present, but removing that would contradict the start of the Saiyan or was simply a bad plot. Replacing Krillin with Yamcha and Tien takes care on Krillin not knowing about Gohan until Goku visits Kame House, and Kami himself stopping Garlic Jr. to obtain inmortality makes it so that not only the Dragon Balls are kept active but so it makes more sense that the demon would use the Dead Zone, the only technique that could defeat him if he was inmortal.
I'll try to comment on more movie rewrites when I have more time.
EDIT: I'm surprised I didn't think of this, but I checked the filler arc where they bring back Garlic Jr. and I wanted to incorporate the Macko star into the plot, since I won't cover filler anyways and when I checked the dates, the start of DBZ line up perfectly so 300 years had passed from Garlic's defeat. Also I wasn't fully convinced on making the Dead Zone a portal to the Demon World instead of the original technique, so I took advantage of the events of the 23rd Budokai Tenkachi tournament to explain how he escaped instead, and the Dark Crystal where Garlic was trapped according to the filler saga now becomes the recipient from where the Dead Zone is activated.

It's been more time that I was expecting, life was keeping me busy, but I've finally got the time to rewatch The Worst's Strongest a couple more times and I came up with a rewrite
MOVIE 2: The World's Strongest (Villain: Dr. Wheelo) The story begins a few months after Goku’s death on the hands of Piccolo to defeat Raditz and the later kidnapping of Gohan, while he’s still adapting to the wild life. Similar to a couple filler chapters, Gohan is walking around some mountains when finds the same Orange Ferocisaurus that chased him on the first day on the wild, this time attacking a smaller purple dinosaur. Gohan gathers enough bravery and charges against the aggresor, and he learns how much stronger he is, beating the animal around. He finishes the fight by throwing the Ferocisaurus into one of the mountains, which results in a big rockslide. The Orange dinosaur rans away in time while the dragon has a big wound that doesn’t let him fly. Gohan grabs the injured dragon and they safefully escape the rockslide together. Later that day, the half-saiyan applies a wounding technique with leafs that his father taught, and the dragon shows his affection by licking his new friend. Gohan decides to call him Icarus/Hire Dragon, and even if they depart ways, they keep seeing each other from time to time. While Piccolo was observing his “pupil” from the distance, what he didn’t notice was the consequences of the previous fight: all the tremors revealed a forgotten airship, indirectly revealing one of Earth’s most evil beings.
There is a timeskip months later, shortly before Goku reaches King Kai's planet and the Earthlings (Krillin, Tien, Yamcha, Yakirobe and Chiatzou) are training on Kami’s lookout. Kochin finally manages to resurface the laboratory with the aid of a superheating laser he built in these past few months instead of wishing for the defrosting. (they randomly use this weapoin the movie in a random village so it makes more sense to use it on this situation) This way there is no need for the Dragon Balls and that entire subplot can be dropped.
What is maintained is the main objective of Dr Wheelo: to find and possess the body of the strongest warrior in the world. He sends Kochin and his Bio-Men after Kame House to capture the legendary Turtle Hermit, still the mightiest warrior on Wheelo’s eyes. Roshi disposes of the Bio-Men, but as they capture Bulma, he relunctanly goes with them to the laboratory fortress, while Oolong managed to hide him and the Dragon Balls by transforming into a fake wall.
On the lookout, Yamcha and Krillin start reflecting on the last half a year and all they have learnt together, like the Taiyoken, and how much more powerful Goku must have got by now (unaware Goku hasn’t reached Kaio yet.). Kami observes the planet from above, also reflecting on their progress, to the point they must have overpass his power, and most likely his teaching. He considers letting them use the Hyperbolic time chamber when he suddenly notices Wheelo’s fortress on the Tsumrumai-Tsuburi Mountains operational again, and screams in disbelief. He was so focused on the dangers that were approaching from out of the planet that he didn’t notice the evil lurking on Earth already.
All fighters stop their training and gather around Kami, asking his the reason for his scream. It is now Kami who describes Wheelo’s new backstory instead of Bulma narrating it: Doctor Wheelo graduated in bioengineering as top of the class, in the same promotion as Gero and Brief(Bulma's father), and he quickly was categorized as one of the most devilish people on Earth for his twisted experiments, to the point that even the Red Ribbon army tried to keep up the distance for him. His crimes against humanity were so strong that Kami himself decided to step in ("He recieved a punishment from the Heavens"), and his whole laboratory was indulged by an ever growing ice in 737, shortly before Goku is sent to Earth. He now remains there for 25 years instead of 50, so it lines up better with the global story.
Wheelo sent his robot minion, Dr. Kochin, away in a desperate attempt so he can break him from the ice prison later, but his transportation is destroyed by Kami, getting trapped in some mountains for a long time, but he has returned and managed to remove the ice with the power of the facility. Kami fears that he might prove un unstoppable enemy with his old age, but he realized this could be the perfect opportunity for his warrios. As his own request and their last step on their training, he sends all the Earthlings to defend the Earth from a less powerful, but formidable foe (although Yakirobe was really relunctant).
Meanwhile, like in the movie, Kochin tests the strength of Roshi by making him fight his Bio-Warriors: Ebifurya, Kishime, and Misokatsun. Despite putting a good fight, Roshi is quickly defeated by the trio, leaving the assistant dumb-founded with the power of the so-called “strongest under the Heavens”, but Bulma scoffs it’s been ages from the last time Roshi was the strongest on the planet. Wheelo threatens Bulma to elaborate, which she responds by stating there are a group of righteous warrios that surpassed him a long time, and the strongest of them all is dead at the moment. As fate would have it, the sensors alert about a group composed of 5 individuals flying to this location (Yakirobe is riding Krillin). Wheelo deduces this must the group she was referring to and order the Bio-Warriors to meet them, so whoever proves the mightiest warrior from this encounter will become his new vessel.
The Warriors land at the entrance of the laboratory, discussing their next move, when the doors open for them, letting out a yellow blob that starts attacking them. Krillin tells the others to keep moving while he and Karikobe handles him, as the swordsman tries tol and a clean hit with no avail. When they enter the laboratory, the trio encounters the room with floating spike orbs, so the Crane Hermit students use the Dodonpa to destroy many of them at once, while Yamcha uses the Sokidan to dispose of the hazards with the same attack. Outside, Krillin uses a charged ki blast on Misokatsun, which he returns with his flexible skin.Yakirobe orders the Turtle Hermit’s student to throw him with all his strenght, launching him like a rocket with the katana pointing as the Bio-warrior. Yakirobe stretches Misokatsun and it looks like he’d be sent back, but Krillin flies at top speed for additional thrust, finally piercing through the enemy. As Misokatsun deflates and slowly dissapears in the cold water, both Earthlings move fast inside to join their friends, who were finishing the ball trap room. They regroup and reaching an intersection, they can feel weakened Roshi in the lower parts of the facility, so Chaostzu and Krillin decide to go look for the Turtle Hermit, while the other three keep going up the dungeon. Wheelo keeps observing them all through the cameras and sends his two remaining Bio-Warriors to fight Yakirobe,Tien and Yamcha, particularely interested in the abilities of the last two.
In a lower part of the laboratory, Wheelo’s assistant is preparing the equipment to make the Turtle Hermit into a bio-slave, who’s still concious and nervous about the prospect. Krillin and Chiatzou find the room, completely unexpected by Kochin, and in a fit of rage, Kochin reveals his hand machinegun and shoots to the group. Chiatzou uses his telekinesis to stop him and the bullers in place, so Krillin uses a strong kick to knock him down. They removed all shackles from Roshi, and Krillin gives him a Senzu beam so he restores his health, revealing he had the foresight to go ask Korin for the latest crop.
Meanwhile, the warrior trio reaches a new level on the dungeon, where they get caught by surprise with a frozen fist from Ebifurya. Tien and Yamcha managed to fly out of range, but the sworded fighter doesn’t learn how to and gets inmovilized by the attack, making the fight a 2v2 between the fighting masters and the Bio-Warriors. The earthling duo go back and forth with their enemies, even changing targets with good coordination, and eventually Ebifurya falls to the former desert bandit.
With a small moment of confidence, Yamcha lowers his guard so Kishime uses his electric whip to shock him by surprise. By his point of view, the Bio-Warrior lands his free whip to get Tien as well, but he’s suddenly struck by an attack by… Tien? Out of their vision, the Crane school student had used his multiform technique so two of them absorbed the damage, while the other half punches Kishime out of comission. Yamcha can mostly shrugg his damage off, and while they remove the ice from Yakirobe, the mad doctor recognizes the power and range of abilities from the three-eye warrior as his perfect new body.
Yamcha, Tien and Yakirobe get to the main room where Wheelo was already expecting their arrival. He comments on their struggle against his minions has been worthless, as he activated the same ray used to trap Goku in the movie, this time to weaken Tien. Taking advantage of the shock, the mad doctor reveals his giant mechanical body, forced to use a form he considers horrendous before he can transition into his new vessel. He begins to dominate on Tien and Yakirobe with his hand beams, but from the ceiling, Roshi lands a perfect blow that disassembles one of his claws. Not only that, Chiatzou and Yakirobe go ham on the near machines to free Tien, who falls to the ground in exhaustion. Krillin manages to give Yamcha a Senzu Bean so he recovers from his previous fight As he prepares to throw one to Tien as well, Wheelo prepares a final blast from his mouth to finish the fighters.
Roshi,Krillin and Yamcha use a syncronised Kamehameha, recreating the same technique the first two and Goku used during the movie, as Wheelo counters with his own mouth beam. They struggle for a bit but the mad doctoy begins to gain the upper hand, until Piccolo comes to the scene. The alien scoffs on the doctor assuming any of them was the strongest warrior on Earth, as he throws a ki barrage that makes the giant cyborg lose balance. The Kame trio takes this precious opportunity and pour all their remaining strenght into their blast, breaking through Wheelo’s defenses and the walls of the laboratory.
The Dragon Team lowers their guard in exhaustion, but as they start looking for Wheelo’s energy to confirm he’s dead, they made a chilling realization: they couldn’t feel neither Wheelo’s or Kochin’s ki at the slightest during their fight. Before they have time to process this information, the laboratory starts sinking after the blast pierced through the structure, so they grab the wounded and whose who cannot fly and escape before the laboratory indulges them with it. Unbeknown to the fighters, Wheelo had actually survived the beam clash, but in a deporable state. He had been thrown into one of the mountains and lost all his limb extensions, the glass case had broken by the side and slowly leaking the fluid that kept his brain functioning, and the freezing wind made its way through the circuits and destroy them. He suffered a slow and agonizing death by frostbite, as the divine punishment he received 25 years ago. It was a fitting end for the scientist obsessed with evolution to meet his end by a force of nature.
After some Senzu beams and taking Roshi and Bulma to the Kame House again, the story ends with the Earthlings on their Lookout, as Kami congratulates them on another victory for Earth’s safety. The Namekian God admits there is nothing more him or Mr. Popo can teach them, so he beams them new weighted clothes and tells them to train on their own until the Saiyans’ arrival, now more confident on their chances. Meanwhile Piccolo flies back to the spot and watches as Gohan takes another piece of mear from the orange T-rex, and decides it’s time to train the kid that one day will become the actual World’s strongest.
Overall, I really like how this script turned out. With this rewrite, the main event of Movie 2 fits more as a mid-adventure for the Warriors on Earth during the 1 year timeskip, while it removes all contradicting and unnecesary plots (Goku is alive but knows the Kaioken and Genki Dama, the Dragon Balls are used to remove the ice when they shouldn’t be active, Piccolo is kidnapped but Wheelo doesn’t consider him to take over his body…). The only part that lightly clashed with the manga continuity is that Piccolo deciding it's time to train Gohan and the Earthlings finishing their training with Kami happen when Goku reaches King Kai and when he manages to catch Bubbles respectively, but even the anime plays around with the time placements of these moments, and the ending connects both of them mostly flawlessly. I also introduce Hire Dragon during Gohan’s time on the wild taking a page from anime’s filler where he befriends a random dinosaur to he’s already established for the next movies ( I like the little creature, what can I say?)
It’ll probably take another month to continue with this, but I have mostly everything planned for my next rewrite: Movie 3: The Tree of Might AND Movie 4: Slug, now combined into the same event where both groups make a synchonized attack on Earth for their own goals. The movie's name: The Galactic Outcasts.
