Here's the second part. The second chapter opens up with SS3 Vegeta finishing his Final Flash and watching the smoke slowly clear. Off to the sides U18 cheers. Trunks, Goten, Pan, and Bra think Vegeta has won. Piccolo is impressed that Vegeta swallowed his pride and used deceptive tactics to make him appear too weak for Cell to bother using even half his power against. Goku isn't surprised at all. He has always known Vegeta can be a good tactician, but now that he no longer lets his pride drive his every action it has allowed him to become an even greater fighter than ever before. He will now use tactics he deemed beneath him before. Goku praises his rival feigning not only his weakness, but that his pride was running rampant again just to bait Cell to make this all possible. He is eager to see what Vegeta can do at SS3, since he at last gets to see Vegeta use it. Pan is surprised her grandfather thinks the fight will continue, since she assumed her Uncle Vegeta won. Goku just smiles and says the fight is just heating up. The smokes clears to reveal Cell's lower half remains, although it is scratched up. Cell regenerates almost instantaneously. U16 Piccolo curses Cell's durability, since he knows U18 Vegeta's move would have killed Cell if he didn't have Frost Demon cells in his body to help enhance Namek regeneration. Now he doesn't see how Vegeta can win. Vegetto points out despite the Final Flash failing to kill Cell outright that it still caused Cell's ki to nose dive quite a bit. He thinks Vegeta has a shot. U16 Gohan thinks it is better Vegeta's attacked didn't fully destroy Cell's body, since Cell can now reinforce his core to help protect it from powerful ki attacks. Reducing Cell to his core will bring him close to death and trigger his Saiyan cells to revive him even stronger than he was before. Cell smirks and remarks Vegeta saw ploys like that beneath him. Vegeta only says that was true at one point, but he now realizes how foolish he was in the past. Cell teases Vegeta on finally growing up, but still praises the prince for hitting him even if it failed to kill him. Cell feels it at least made things a little more even between them. The biological android powers up and easily achieves SS3 thresholds of power, even with a massive loss in power. He hopes Vegeta can keep up with him on this level. Cell pounces toward the prince. Vegeta meets Cell head on. The two them rain down a rapid series of punches and kicks in what appears to be mere moments to the naked eye. Neither can gain an advantage so far. For every blow Cell manages to land Vegeta lands one of his own. The air vibrates with the shock waves of their power. Cell fires the Special Beam Cannon, which Vegeta just dodges by the skin of his teeth. Before he can recover Cell kicks Vegeta into the air then fires Big Bang attack of his own. Vegeta avoids the strike, but the burst of energy explodes suddenly and consumes the skies. U18 Bra cries for her dad, worried if he survived the blast. Cell tells her not to worry since Vegeta was fast enough to dodge the explosion. He turns around to knowingly at Vegeta who has suffered no major wounds. Cell is happy Vegeta could at least dodge that or else he would be disappointed by this match. Vegeta asks if Cell is still holding back, which Cell replies if he didn't this fight would be too boring, asserting even with his loss of power he still too strong for the Saiyan warrior to handle. Vegeta questions if he is sure. He instantly closes the gap between them, much to Cell's surprise. Vegeta socks Cell in the gut, knocking the air out of him. Vegeta reveals he hasn’t gone all out yet either. He gave Cell a taste of his true speed. He coats his fist with ki and forms a blade that pierces through Cell's stomach. Vegeta reveals he still has a few more cards up his sleeve. Cell is baffled what Vegeta intends to do until his body is skewered by multiple ki blades, when they burst out from all over his body. Vegeta states he has been working on his ki manipulation to both sharpen it and change its shape. Most of the audiences are caught off guard by the brutality of the attack. Cell is barely recognizable, he's a bloody mess, and his ki has taken another major drop. Vegeta finishes up by hacking Cell up into several chunks. He then quickly blast away at the chunks, but unfortunately not fast enough before Cell regenerates from one of the chunks. Cell compliments Vegeta on destroying his body twice in one fight, but failed both times to kill him when he had the chance. Neither attack was strong enough to destroy his whole body. Unless he can generate an attack powerful enough to do that Vegeta has no chance of winning. Vegeta screams not to count him out yet. He blitz passed Cell to try to kick him from behind, only for his blow to kick thin air. Cell reappears behind the prince, preparing to punch him. Vegeta dodges the blow as well. The two warriors are engaged in a high speed battle where they appear and disappear in several different places in milliseconds. Outside of the ring U12 Trunks is left in awe at how much Cell and his father, have improved. This inspires him to start his training again when he returns home. In the U7 area Gast thinks the difference between this Vegeta and his U13 counterpart is like night and day. Despite both of them being SS3 the power of the U13 Vegeta that Gast fought wasn’t in the same league as the power of U18 Vegeta. The clash ends with Vegeta punching Cell away. Vegeta tries to continue his attack only to miss when Cell teleports behind him. Cell slams the prince down then unleashes two ki discs on his foe. Vegeta easily dodges them, but Cell changes their direction. U8 Freeza and U18 Goku instantly recognize this technique. Rather than run around Vegeta reuses the ki blade to cut through both discs and destroys them. Vegeta tries to slash Cell only for it to be stopped by Cell grabbing his arm. The android tells him nice try, but gets knee in his gut. Vegeta breaks free and kicks Cell to the air. Vegeta super speeds behind for a follow up, but only hits an afterimage. The true Cell socks the prince in the jaw, while Vegeta manages to kick him in the face. Both warriors distance themselves from each other. Both of them are out of breath. It becomes obvious both of them are losing stamina. Vegeta realizes the longer the fight drags on the worse off he will be compared to Cell. He charges at the android. Cell prepares to strike when Vegeta stop suddenly. He blinds Cell with solar flare and launches more ki discs to cut up Cell yet again. This time Cell teleports away before Vegeta can follow up with a blast. Unknown to Vegeta the android appears behind him. Cell regenerates and hits his enemy toward the ground. He shoots a powerful ki blast that hits its mark. Vegeta survives, the attack damaged him, he his bleeding from the left side of his face. U18 Videl wonders why Vegeta is bothering to cut Cell up. She thinks regeneration just makes it wasted effort. U18 Gohan replies it is making all the difference. He reminds his wife that Cell isn't the same as Buu. While Buu's regeneration costs him nothing Cell's drains his stamina. The greater the damage Cell receives the more ki he will lose. He admits all of this will be moot if Vegeta can’t land a deceive blow before SS3 consumes Vegeta’s ki. Goku asserts Vegeta is aware of SS3’s weakness as much as anyone. The evidence of that is how Vegeta is only use ki blasts when he needs to.
Cell realizes what Vegeta is trying to do, but declares it is pointless. He has seen SS3 enough times to know its ki consumption will weaken Vegeta far sooner than Vegeta can drain off his stamina. He estimates Vegeta will give out any minute now. Vegeta claims it is more than enough time to finish off Cell. He races off toward his old enemy. Cell replies, “You stand no chance, Vegeta!” They clash with each other and once again get locked into a stalemate. As the intense battle draws out, Vegeta finds himself slowing down first. More of his hits failed to make contact more and more. Eventually Cell’s speed became too much for him to keep up with. Gradually Vegeta was beat back, while Cell pressed his advantage. Cell boasts he told Vegeta he stood no chance. Vegeta refused to give up, but SS3 fizzled out and he was forced to his knees. Exhausted and drained Vegeta cursed. Cell chuckled at the turn of events. U13 Vegeta looked smug at his counterparts’ misfortunate. U12, U16, and U18 looked on with worry and fear. Uub moans Vegeta was so close. Both Gohans growl at their most hated enemy once again escaping karma. Goku was the one who was most bewildered. “Vegeta, you…”
Cell walks up to Vegeta smug as ever. He muses at least Vegeta gave him a decent fight this time, but he is looking forward to seeing what Goku can do. Vegeta jumps up, changes back to SS3, and places his hands on Cell’s chest. He shouts, Super Nova! Cell’s whole body is engulfed an orb of flames. Vegeta blasts Cell into space. The villain is incinerated by the incredible heat of the flames. His body and core are burned away. Vegeta falls out of SS3 form and falls to his knees again. The prince said that last attack took everything he had left, but this time Cell is finished. Back at U18 Goku said he knew it. He knew Vegeta was faking, because he should have had more time as SS3 based on his own experience. He realized Vegeta was intentionally lowering his ki to trick Cell into believing SS3 was taking its toll faster than it was. He did it to lure Cell into one last trap. U16 Vegetto smiles and calls the technique impressive. He compliments his alter ego. U18 Piccolo asks what that technique was. Goku answers that both he and Vegeta were developing their own techniques to deal with enemies that could regenerate. Fighting both Cell and Majin Buu showed them just how dangerous such foes were. Goku admits he took his technique in a different direction than Vegeta. Vegetto explains Vegeta’s technique worked by converting his ki into heat/fire and concentrating and condensing it both to contain the effect and generate even greater heat. The more ki is put into it the greater the heat would be and the longer lasting it would be. He estimated Vegeta had to channel all his remaining ki into to incinerate Cell almost instantaneously.
The technique would work as small sun perfect for killing a being with regeneration, since the attack would continue to burn them until nothing was left. Both Gohans realiz even with Cell’s body reinforcing his core it wouldn’t protect it from being burned at such intense heat. Videl questions why Vegeta didn’t use that attack sooner. Vegeta explains the attack requires him to get close to touch his opponent. He admits that Cell was probably too strong for the technique to generate enough heat to kill Cell fast enough, and feared Cell do something to escape it. That is why he worked so hard to lower Cell’s ki just enough to ensure his Super Nova landed. It’s a technique the old Vegeta never would have come up with, because he came up with it by asking help from others like Krillin, Yamecha, Tien, and even Trunks and Goten on ki manipulation. He realized that more creative ways to use ki could be just as effective to make up for his lack of power. He admits he is still trying to perfect the technique though. Vegeta walks back to the ring. A Cell Junior angrily rebukes him for killing his father. Vegeta retorts his father threatened his daughter for a game. He hates Cell, because he reminds Vegeta of his old self, an arrogant fool who would endanger others around him just to stoke his own ego. He points out had Cell not wasted time fighting U16 Gohan to prove he was better he could have helped them kill Babidi before he gotten U16 Bra. For all his boasting about killing people to get Gohan to take things seriously it was really his Gohan who had come closes to stopping everything by choosing to go after Babidi. In the end Cell is still inferior to his rival, Son Gohan. Vegeta deems Cell was unworthy of his true power. He deems only Goku is worthy of that. Goku chuckles and says some things never change.
This went a little longer than I thought. It might not be two chapters and bleed a little over into a third chapter. Kind of wanted to have Vegeta win this fight by using tactics and techniques. It keeps Cell in the same league as Mystic Gohan, but I tried my best to have Vegeta drain off Cell in more believable way. I thought the best way to do that would be to destroy as much of Cell's body was possible to cause him to lose large amounts of ki. We saw this was possible in canon when Goku landed that massive Kamehameha on Cell and everyone sensed Cell's ki dropped sharply. The first chapter I had Vegeta feign weakness to lure Cell into take Final Flash. Cell likes to toy with his pray Vegeta had a good idea Cell wouldn't kill him outright. When he witnessed the events of the revolt it only furthered confirmed to Vegeta that Cell was still the same arrogant warrior who put his pride before logic. Vegeta and Gohan both point out how Cell could have ended things before Bra woke up had he been truly pragmatic.
Since Vegeta knows SS3 is ki guzzler I tried to make him use his ki more efficiently to give him more time and only use ki blasts when he needs to. That is why I had Vegeta sharpen his ki with disc and blades, since DB established regardless how strong someone is they can still be sliced up. Someone as weak as Krillin could potentially kill Freeza if he hit him with Desstructo Disc. Cell's regeneration would prevent that from being a fatal blow depending on how much damage Cell takes cutting him and hacking him up could probably cause major damage. I figured Vegeta skewering Cell from the inside out would probably be damaging to him as if he had his upper body destroyed, might still cause another sharp decline in ki, especially when he regenerate from that unlike Buu's regeneration. It is not fatal and just brings Cell down from Mystic Gohan to Vegeta's level. Since this was the quarter finals I thought Vegeta having a new technique would be appropriate. I thought we might get a reveal that Vegeta had a new move to counter regeneration the same way Vegetto did. I wouldn't be surprised if Goku and Vegeta did develop their own techniques since Cell and Buu gave them such hard time. I tried hard to make it not broken. I liked the idea of Vegeta trying to convert and condense his ki into sphere of heat to create a long lasting effect that burns the enemy into nothing is left as a way to deal with regeneration. It just happen to be something that would take out Cell's core even if it was reinforced.
I tried to make this fight continue the trend of showcasing Vegeta's growth as a person by having him do things he would have seen as beneath him in the past like pretending to be weak to keep the enemy from going all out so he could land an attack. Vegeta asking for the humans, who has never respected, for help in developing a technique having seen the worth in their more creative uses of ki compared to his more straightforward brute force way. Vegeta intentionally only destroys parts of Cell so as not reduce him to a core to trigger a zenkai, because he knows he can't win. To Cell he thinks Vegeta is trying his best, but failing to kill him. Vegeta knows about the reinforced core because U4 Buu showed everyone what happened, so Vegeta is being extra careful. This isn't something that would work on everyone. It only works for this fight because Cell wants to be entertained and likes to handicap himself to give his enemies more of a chance. If he tried this out on U16 Bra during the revolt she would have killed him because she would get frustrated with these games and kill Vegeta before he could try to do this. Cell probably still could have won if he thought Vegeta was a threat to him, but he just didn't think Vegeta was a threat, which is pretty in character I think. Pretty sick to see Ende-err-I-mean-Vegeta to do a Prominence Burn on High-Nom-uhh-I-meant-Cell.
That sounds like a way better Vegeta vs Cell fight than what we got.

Since we're getting some fun and good alternative Vegeta vs. Cell matches I figured I would try my hand. Mine will be a downgrade since it won't have images. I've been thinking of some ideas on how I might try to improve the fight. No offense to the actual match itself. I liked a lot of it and what it was trying to do even if I wasn't a fan of the how it ended. I'm all for bringing back tactics and strategies to DB again. It is good to at least see DBS and DBM are both attempting to do that. I'm hoping this would be two chapters. This first post will just be about the first chapter. My next post will be about a second chapter and conclusion of the fight.
The opening with Vegeta turning SS2 and dodging Cell would stay the same. I didn't see the problem with SS2 transformation being fast, I thought it was clever to bait Cell into attacking him with a under powered hit, plays on Vegeta knowing Cell's character well, concealing his true intent in the old arrogant Vegeta brand. Cutting Cell up with ki disc was a good follow up. My first change would be instead of waiting for Cell to regenerate Vegeta would fire off a series of ki blasts, which looks like he is attempting to blowing up Cell before he can regenerate. This move catches people by surprise. U18 Piccolo commenting this is unlike Vegeta, while U18 Gohan thinks it is smart to try to kill Cell before he powers up. He thinks it is the only way Vegeta can beat Cell now. Vegeta smirks and throws Cell's words back at him at how he is too careless. Cell's head, his chest, parts of his thigh, an arm, and bits survived the barrage. Cell makes his tricks comments and regenerates from the parts to create four Cells. Vegeta continues to smirk, but thinks to himself that this will be tough match and he'll have to stick to his strategy if he hopes to win.
The four Cells swarm Vegeta in an instant. Before he can react he'll get punched by one Cell, kicked in the back by another, and launched into the sky with an uppercut by third one. The fourth Cell smirk and comment on how Vegeta is still doesn't know when he is out of his depth. Vegeta takes to the air with three of the Cells racing after him. U19 would wonder why Cell didn't make duplicates of himself when they were fighting Bra. U18 Goku comments that the fact Cell didn't pull out a technique against Bra must have meant the duplicates are either much weaker than the original or divides his power among them. A move that would have hurt Cell against Bra because she is much stronger than him. U16 Gohan growls at how Cell is once again treating them all his playthings. He thinks about if Cell had worked with them from the start they could have stopped Babidi way before Bra woke up. He comments this is why he hates Cell so much.
Vegeta barely dodges a Cell duplicate then counters with a kick that blow it away. He notices the real Cell is standing there watching. He growls. Another Cell duplicate elbows Vegeta's back, while the other one knocks Vegeta down to the ring. The duplicates express their disappointment at Vegeta's lackluster performance. Vegeta screams not to make a fool out of him. He rushes back to the air smashes a duplicates head in, destroying it. Vegeta proclaims he won't be done in by fakes. He fires a Big Bang at another duplicate. The duplicate catches it easily and mocks Vegeta for his weakness, only to discover Vegeta is already behind him. The duplicate Cell realizes too late that the blast was a distraction. The prince fires a bigger Big Bang and destroys the duplicate. Vegeta loudly proclaims the duplicates are weaker, dumber versions of the original that are barely a cut above Cell Juniors. With only one duplicate left Vegeta is able to easily defeat it in a one on one clash. He sends the last duplicate down at Cell's feet. Vegeta squashes it head as lands in front of Cell.
Cell congratulates Vegeta on defeating his doubles mockingly. Vegeta makes another loud proclamation he won't ever let Cell make a fool of him. Cell replies that Vegeta makes it too easy. Vegeta gets madder and rushes Cell, much too U18's horror. Uub fears Vegeta is letting his anger blind him, while U18 Gohan says he knows Vegeta is smarter than this. Vegeta throws blow after blow while Cell blocks them all and judges his speed and power are at a level far higher than Gohan's was when he first transformed to level 2 at the Cell Game. Vegeta gradually increasing the speed of his attacks without response. All Cell does is easily defend each blow without returning a single attack back at Vegeta. The one the sided exchange makes it obvious Vegeta is the clear underdog. U12 Trunks wonders if this is the extent of his father's power. U13 Vegeta makes a snide comment at how his counterpart was nothing, but big talk.
The clash ends with Vegeta out of breath and Cell looking bored. He demands Vegeta go to the next level so he can get a real work out. Provoked Vegeta demands Cell shuts up. Seeing this strong response makes Cell wonder aloud if Vegeta hasn't unlocked level 3. When Vegeta doesn't say anything again Cell laughs at him and sees this as evidence that Vegeta is the only Saiyan in U18 that can't go SS3. Vegeta powers up in SS2 form and declares he'll crush Cell with SS2. History repeats itself with Vegeta charging Final Flash. "This time I'll send you to face Oblivion!" Cell merely chuckles that Vegeta hasn't changed at all. Vegeta unleashes the Final Flash, which Cell catches with one hand, stopping it in place. Vegeta smirks. He goes to SS3 in an instant and channels his power in the blast before Cell realize it. The sudden swallow of power overwhelms Cell and obliterates him. The first chapter ends with SS3 Vegeta smirking.
No Cell isn't dead yet. I liked the idea of Vegeta playing on Cell's exiting character flaws to gain an advantage. It is not so much arrogance, but that Vegeta has observing how Cell fights throughout the whole tournament and noticed Cell only uses as much power as needs to make matches more entertaining to himself or to try to power himself up by taking damage for zenkai boost. Vegeta lure Cell into attack him before he transformed was to catch off guard. He's also acting haughty to give Cell, who he knows has a low of opinion of him, the impression that he isn't much different from how he was nearly 30 years ago. All of it head games to help lure Cell into a false sense of security. At the same time this fight still has Cell not really struggling against Vegeta at all. The duplicates start off with the advantage before Vegeta beats them. Cell makes it clear beating them is nothing special.
The characters discussing the duplicates not being used against Bra shows they aren't meant to be used for a serious fight. Cell isn't in any real danger until Vegeta transform into SS3 at the last second to give Final Flash a extra kick before Cell can power up. Even that was part of Vegeta's strategy. By using Final Flash in a last desperate attack it makes Cell think Vegeta is all out of tricks, but at the same time trying to play on Cell's arrogance, since Vegeta is banking on Cell wanting to fully stop or deflect the Final Flash this time around rather than dodging it at the last second to humiliate Vegeta more. When Cell fell for it Vegeta pounced.
Really enjoying this so far!! I never thought of having Vegeta pretend to be his Cell saga self to bait Cell. But I like it alot because it not only shows Vegeta has a strategy, but it gives a good reason for Cell go have some ass kicking moments in the fight! Excited for the next part! I'm glad you enjoyed that part. It really did seem the actual chapter was trying to have Vegeta uses tactics to overcome Cell's superior power and play on the fact that he doesn't start out at full power. The idea was solid, but the execution didn't mesh well for me. I tried to think of a way to use that idea, but play it in a way I felt worked better. Vegeta staying SS2 and not going SS3 right away had to be part of plan. The New Vegeta getting over himself enough to play weak and wait for an opportunity to strike felt both believable and showed Vegeta's knowledge of Cell's personality. Since Vegeta knows Cell won't go all out at the start of the fight and just use enough power to overpower SS2 to humiliate Vegeta the same way he did Bojack. It leaves the door open for Vegeta to go SS3 quickly to overpower Cell's suppressed power to deal maximum damage.
Believe it or not I wasn't even thinking about My Hero Academia when I came up with that move. I was originally going to have Vegeta use Final Shine move he used in GT, but couldn't really think of how to make that attack be one that could counter regeneration or be any different from Final Flash. From there I thought of a way to kill Cell or Majin Buu would be to throw them into the sun the same way they did Broly. That is when I came up with the idea of Vegeta making a small sun like attack everlasting and powerful enough to incinerate Cell completely. I did however get the idea of Vegeta manipulating his ki blade to split itself skewer Cell from the inside from Naruto. I always liked how Sasuke and Kakashi manipulate their Chidori/Lightning Blade to do that and felt DB characters could probably do that. Vegeta knowing how to manipulate ki to create a blade was believable considering Vegetto was able to do it.
It fit Vegeta's character development to work on manipulating his ki and getting help from the humans who were always great at creating diverse and unique ki techniques over the Saiyans' more straightforward use of ki. I'm happy you liked the fight. I truly felt this fight should have been 2 chapters. The first chapter being mostly SS2 Vegeta vs Cell for the warm up is a typical DB fight. The next chapter could have showed SS3 Vegeta fighting a more serious Cell. That could be the one where we see more moves from both characters. People in general would have felt more believable for SS3 Vegeta to be able to go toe to toe with Cell than SS2. A lot of people had problems with Cell holding back so much. I really liked the idea of Vegeta using SS3 for a sneak attack on Cell like the comic gave us, but felt the core stuff wasn't really explained well. Vegeta using his ki more efficiently and effectively by cutting and slicing Cell up rather than one really hard punch made the most sense and already had basis in canon.
Vegeta used to be cunning when he was a villain. When he went anti-hero he turned into the blowhard who beat his chest with his fist and demanded people fight him and how stupid and cowardly it was to use "cheap" tricks. I really wanted a Vegeta who stopped being so full of himself to return to using his cunning, but in a way that isn't as cheap as sucker punching a downed enemy. He is still Vegeta, so being willing to use less ki efficient SS3 on Cell and saving up his true ace for Goku, still shows needs some work.

I wondering if we will see anyone alter the XXI and Buu match. While I’m landing on the dislike of Buu vs XXI match chapter I’m not too broken up on this match staying the course of an easy win for XXI. That felt still true to tue character so far. I’m not sure if I would want that match to become the crazy magical duel or typical DB big battle yet.

XXI vs. Zen Buu was flat, though I am mostly annoyed with the after fight stuff of Zen Buu being freed so fast and no selling the loss making the chapter all about him. XXI was barley a goddamn footnote and he won the fight. And his reveal of his true self was a blink and you miss it moment that didn't even warrant any serious post-fight discussion by the other fighters.

Since I actually forgot the part where I explain how I would've done it, here is what I would do.
Keep the beginning, have Zen Buu immediately blast XXI the second his feet touch the stadium. Show the bit of nerves Zen Buu has as "XXI" is seemingly destroyed. Keep XXI using the spell to seal Buu away, but have Zen Buu display a counter to that spell with one of his own. Giving him self assurance that he is prepared for any trick XXI has.
Undeterred, XXI recites another spell. One even Zen Buu has not heard of, as he and all his copies (Cut to the one in Uub's apartment being sucked among the examples) and sealed away as he screams in confusion, anger and above all *fear*. Zen Buu perhaps fires desperation blasts all around trying to find the voice to no avail as this dark fog begins to roll in from the presumed corpse. Zen Buu is sealed and then XXI's true essence leaks out, his very being causing some of the audience and competitors to feel chills up their spine before that same rather nice page effect of the full body reveal happens. Competitors are left wondering with visible nerves just who or what XXI is, and perhaps an overlooked terror has been allowed to slip dangerously close to those dragon balls.
End of the chapter can be showing the gauge on Zen Buu's sealed form, ending on sort of a cliff hanger for the next chapter and debate of what to do with Zen Buu (Which itself should be a debate on if Zen Buu is a neccasary evil to have vs. monsters like XXI vs. "OMG Zen Buu is the perf beings guys we should all be like him" the Grand Kaio was on about.)

I would have really liked the chapter if it played out like this. It successfully keeps XXI's identity and abilities under wraps, but still reveals more of his true abilities, since he would have a second sealing spell that Buu doesn't even know about and cannot counter. Buu having a counter for the original spell makes sense to his character and does give Buu false hope he has this fight in the bag before XXI pulls the rug from his feet. At the same time, we get to see more of Buu's fear in depth. It truly puts him in a position we haven't seen him be in since the comic started. For once he wouldn't be in control or have an easy counter. U4 Buu isn't even sent home yet, so there is still the possibility that he can un-sealed to help out later, while creating tension, without truly revealing XXI's true nature. The debate of unsealing Buu and keeping him at the tournament probably would have been better for me than what we got.

I wonder why Salagir never considered making Buu use his powers to age Frieza/Cooler millions of years to put them on par with Goku. "My place" gimmick was stupid.
Could've even been an interesting twist. Ginyu wanting Frieza's body, and succeeding at it.

After seeing the U6 special I really think they should have stuck around until after the Majin Revolt and that their additions could have smoothed over things I had problems with. For example if Bojack had stayed and both Piccolos were forced to fight him as oppose to Freeza and Cooler I could justify in my head why U18 Piccolo would need his new technique to win the fight. Bojack would be stronger, but since he doesn’t regenerate Piccolo hacking him up into pieces would feel more satisfying and give him a true proper awesome moment.
In addition we could have had Bujin help the heroes to highlight he was actually changing into a decent person. That way the magical girls have a better sense of his helping them is out of genuine change and not to replace Bojack. For people who wanted Bujin to redeem they could get that story start here.
Grand should join the fight. Have him help U19 fight off Cell when U16 Gohan goes on his rampage. That would give Cell an opportunity to fill Grand in on the plan. Grand could coordinate with everyone else secretly. This way the story stays mostly the same while giving other characters more things to do. Freeza and Cooler could either have been easily killed by one of the Piccolos or they went to fight U9 and we could have gotten a proper showing from U9 beyond the Cell Junior.
From there when Majin Bra enters we could have U6 magical girls use their little suppression powers on her. Since Bra is so powerful the magical girl can only suppress enough to bring her down to closer to Mystic Gohan level. This way it gets rid of the need for Cell to get all those power boost to keep him as SS3 level opponent to make his fight with Vegeta easier to swallow for fans. With Grand participating and being as strong as his canon self it gives them another SS3 level fighter as well. As a result Bra still feels as powerful as she should, but weakening her through a seal it eliminates the need for overpowering Cell.

I know I'm gonna be beating a dead horse by this point but I'm gonna give my piece for how the battle with Majin Bra could have gone.
We continue from the moment where Cell gathers all the remaining fighters against Majin Bra and follows a similar beat at first, where Bra temporarily takes U18 Gohan out of the fight. She's then confronted by both Cell and U16 Gohan who try attacking her at the same time, but Bra easily parries their combined assault before knocking Gohan away. She then tries to teleport behind Cell and take him out as she did with U18 Gohan, but Cell, like in the comic, predicts her attack and stuns her with an elbow to the face. Bra realises that she can't spam her teleport anymore and adjusts her strategy.
Meanwhile, the Piccolos come to give U18 Gohan a senzu bean which heals him. U16 Piccolo laments that the senzu beans are the only things that are giving them an edge, now that Bra lost hers in that explosion from the last chapter. U18 Piccolo notes that she's been using the beans freely whenever she's on the backfoot, recalling her fight with Cold and later when Cell blew her arm off, and how that is completely unlike Saiyans like Goku and Vegeta. U16 Piccolo explains how in their universe they began cultivating senzus to satiate Vegito's hunger, and that abundance of senzus has made them overly dependent on the beans. He then expresses fear that Bra might go for the beans in his possession, and with the power gap between them, she could take them easily. That is when U18 Piccolo comes up with a plan, telling his counterpart to keep Bra busy before flying off.
Cell is still fighting Bra and prepares to attack her only to hit one of her decoys. Bra teleports to attack Cell while he's trapped in that gooey stuff, only to instead hit Buu. The mini Cell Jr had teleported Buu to act as a meat shield, and now Bra herself is stuck. This is where the U19 warriors take the opportunity to fire their ultra wavers, creating a massive explosion. Buu and Cell are also caught in the explosion but are able to regenerate, with the explosion conveniently freeing Cell from that gooey stuff.
However, Bra teleports behind Nedwook and snaps his neck killing him, to Phipsil's grief. Gohan remembers what Bra and Cell said: he needs to go all out if they were to have a chance of winning. He declares that Bra has gone too far and fires his strongest Kamehameha. Bra tries to avoid it but the beam keeps following her, so she teleports behind him to attack, only to hit Phipsil's shield. Bra's hit by Gohan's Kamehameha, while Phipsil's shield protects her and Gohan from the explosion.
While this goes on, U18 Piccolo returns before telling his counterpart the full details of what he's up to. That is when the explosion from Gohan's Kamehameha happens and them and U18 Gohan had to jump out of the way to escape. Once the smoke clears, it cuts to Phipsil and Gohan, the latter realising that Bra had teleported shortly after the explosion. To their horror, they see Bra over U16 Piccolo's dead body, taking out a senzu bean from his robes.
That is when U18 Gohan, teleported by the mini Cell Jr, tries to attack Bra with an axehammer, but it's too late for Bra had already eaten the bean. But to her shock and confusion, her wounds were not healing. This revelation leaves Bra open to Gohan's attack, allowing him to land a blow to the side of her head, which happens to be where Gohan and punched her earlier on when the mini Cell Jr teleported him back to the stadium. This time, the comic shows an x-ray shot of Gohan's fists managing to crack Bra's skull slightly.
This is when U18 Piccolo flies to U16 Gohan, who's been drained from firing his Kamehameha from earlier, and gives him a senzu bean. He explains that Bra would most likely come after his counterpart because she knew he was carrying the remaining senzu beans, so he swiped some normal beans (to foreshadow Vegeta's own trick against Cell) from the kitchen and swapped them with his counterpart just before the explosion happened. He laments how that it was a calculated risk that ultimately cost his counterpart's life.
We then cut to Bra, who is now bleeding heavily from the side of her head. She tries to get up, angrily stating that she'll kill all of them for that, only to end up falling back down. To her horror, not only can she barely feel her legs, she is also starting to feel nauseous and her vision blurry. She realises that U18 Gohan's attack had given her a concussion. But that was the least of her problems, for she can barely make out a wave of pink goo about to envelop her.

PART 2
The pink goo (Buu) wraps around Bra, leaving only her head exposed. Both Gohans teleport in front of her thanks to the mini Cell Jrs, and begin railing on her with a flurry of fists. Bra gets badly beaten in the process, sustaining bruises and more blood coming out from her wound.
This beatdown however triggers some bad memories -- we then see a younger Bra as she's getting beaten down in a similar fashion by those Jakyal warriors from the U16 Special, followed by a shot of the warriors mocking her weakness. Acting on survival instincts, Bra suddenly goes berserk, unleashing a massive explosive wave that only frees herself but sends the combatants flying back. Cell jumps back into the battle and the two engage in a brief brawl. However, a berserk bBa breaks through Cell's defences and punches him in the face so hard that his head explodes. She's then ambushed by one of the Gohans who tries to hit her, only for her to counter with a kick that breaks his arm, causing him to scream in pain. But she's not done yet. She proceeds to follow up with a full-powered punch right through his gut, impaling him with her fist and sending blood everywhere, to everyone else's shock and horror.
As Gohan slumps to the ground, his body sliding off Bra's bloodied fist, he says that he thought Bra was stronger than this, revealing himself to be U16 Gohan, her brother. Unlike in the comic where she shows no remorse like the cold-hearted bitch that she is, Bra stumbles back in shock. Everything was a mess to her as she struggles to process what she did, while still fighting the effects of her concussion. She then sees a shadow looming behind her, turns around and sees Cell bearing down on her, having fully regenerated. Bra panics and uses Instantaneous Movement to escape, narrowly avoiding a blow from Cell. Everyone wonders where she had gone.
We then cut to Bra who materialises in front of the Grand Supreme Kai. Despite being severely weakened both physically and emotionally, she swiftly overpowers the Grand Kaioshin and pins him down with her hands around his throat. She says that she knows the Kaioshin has some healing magic (having worked with Kibito Kai and Old Kai back in her universe) and demands that he heal her. However, the Supreme kai still maintains his calm expression, before proceeding to point out that killing her brother had shaken Bra's conviction. He repeats what Gohan said earlier, that everyone expected her to be more than "a slave to her fears". This sends Bra into a rage and she repeatedly beats the Grand Kaioshin's face in, killing him. Getting up, she goes into a rant saying that she is no slave, she is in control, that she is the strongest in the universe. Until she hears a voice sounding exactly like hers angrily screaming that she's nothing but a joke.
Fuming, Bra turns to whoever said that, and finds her U18 counterpart standing behind her, furious and with tears in her eyes. The argument then proceeds as it did in the comic, with U18 Bra giving her counterpart the what for until U16 Bra tells about her issues. U18 Bra then responds:
"Cry me a river. Sure, I don't know what you've gone through, but so what? I'm sure the so-called strongest in the universe is made up of sturdier stuff than that. If you really want to be Number One, then you have to face your issues head-on, not hide them under that high-and-mighty attitude that you've been showing off ever since we arrived on this god-forsaken rock! And now you choose to reduce yourself to a slave to a worm like Babidi; you're no hero -- you're a coward!"
This hits U16 Bra hard. With tears in her eyes, she sees the other fighters catching up to her and teleports away again. This time, she lands on an asteroid, sealing herself off with a barrier so she could breathe. She powers down back into her base form and huddles into a fetal position, realising what she had done.

Instead of me just complaining like I feel like I have just been doing the last few weeks, I thought it would be more fun to re-write Buu vs XXI match. With so little knowledge on XXI I have resigned whatever I write in here is likely not going to be how XXI's abilities work in the main comic. Half the fun of this re-write is trying to figure out ways these two deceitful magicians would outplay each other.
The start of the fight is great. Buu is a bit nervous because he doesn't know what to expect. This gets highlighted by Buu attacking first as soon as the match starts. It is a good opening. We have rarely seen U4 Buu nervous and unsure of himself. Buu just getting down to business instead of playing around is a good way to build tension. XXI's physical body is destroyed the same as before. Buu is still nervous when everyone hears Bibidi's sealing spell. At first Buu is afraid, but he reminds himself to calm down. He has a counter to that spell. Buu says a counter spell as he is being sealed away. Halfway through the sealing the counter spell takes effect and Buu returns to normal.
Buu chuckles to himself. His counter spell working proves XXI just used to the same spell Bibidi had. Now that he is reassured, Buu is confident that he can deal with anything XXI throws at him. He demands XXI comes out. Black smoke comes out from the spot XXI's body stood. Everyone looks on in shock and horror. Buu smiles and says it is nice to meet the real XXI. The Supreme Kais murmur to each other on XXI's appearance. Despite their millions of years of life that none of them have ever seen a being like XXI. Grand looks on worriedly.
Buu mockingly apologizes for ruining XXI's one move win streak he had going on for him. Unlike that meat head Vegetto simple tricks won't work on him. Cue, to Vegetto angrily objecting to Buu's insults. Buu ignores him and continues on, saying he hopes there is more to XXI than this. Otherwise, Buu will be disappointed that he wasted a time taking an interest in him. The black smoke engulfs the whole ring. The audience complain they can't see anything. Buu realizes XXI is concealing the ring so nobody can see his actions. He doesn't know all of XXI's abilities, but Buu thinks for some reason XXI wants to keep his abilities hidden. Buu says he can relate, but he won't let XXI have his way. Buu snaps his fingers to disperse the smoke, but it has no effect. Buu's smile falls. He expected his magic should have been enough to easily dispersed the smoke. He thought the smoke was a high-level concealment spell, but the fact his spell failed means it is much more than that.
Outside of the ring Gast looks on with a worried expression. The black smoke looks like something he only seen in some ancient text. He wonders if XXI has knowledge of ancient magic. Inside the ring Buu is on guard again. He casts a barrier around himself, expands it, and reinforces it with runes. Buu thinks how he created barrier to shield himself from the smoke then reinforced it with a detection spell. If anything passes through the barrier Buu can instantly detect it and respond. XXI appears behind Buu, much to Buu's horror. He frantically thinks how XXI could have gotten passed his barrier without his knowledge.
XXI fires a huge blast, destroying Buu much like he did when Buu sneak into his room. Pieces of Buu come out of the ring and reforms. Buu still unsure how XXI countered his barrier. He would have understood if XXI had broken it with a spell, but for him to completely slip through it should have been impossible. He begins to wonder if XXI's knowledge of magic, might exceed his own. For the first time in a long while Buu starts to feel fear. Despite that thanks to Saiyans he absorbs a sense of excitement at facing a worthy opponent, boils within him. Buu splits into several copies and declares it is time for him to go all out. The first chapter ends.
It is nothing spectacular. Buu doing magic spells that haven't been established isn't going to be everyone's favorite. I thought with two skilled magic users facing off that both of them should use magic. XXI casting spells that Buu hasn't seen or experienced creates a sense of tension. Buu's spells to counter XXI end up failing and he isn't sure how exactly. He was lured into a false sense of security because XXI cast Bibidi's sealing spell. It just made Buu think XXI was just casting simple spells that he can easily counter. The moment the black smoke comes out Buu slowly realizes there is more to XXI than simple tricks. The mystery of XXI is still in effect and the only person who can see what XXI can do is Buu, thanks to the smoke barrier he placed on the ring. When someone as powerful as Buu is put underfoot it makes the reader want to know more about him without revealing too much to him.

Here is the second part of my re-write.
I would keep the breaking the 4th Wall joke. I don't mind it and it is in character for Buu. "Previously on DBM, the Magnificent Buu is engaged in combat with the devious XXI. Our hero valiantly fights off the cheap tricks of the dastardly villain, but XXI's cheap tricks know no bounds. Can our favorite, All Mighty Buu, overcome the odds? Yes, yes, he will."
The small army of Buus rush down XXI. XXI moves to blast them, but he caught in the trap meant for Gast, and is unable to move. Buu explains he originally devised the trap for Gast, how he mixed several high-level spells, in hopes one of them could slow the powerful Namekian spell caster. Buu tells XXI he should be honored that Buu deemed him the only other threat to himself at this tournament. Four Buus surround XXI and generate anti-matter around XXI. Before the Buus can fully unleash anti-matter, they find themselves trapped by their own trap, the spell is no longer around XXI, but on the Buus. Buu can only utter a surprised what. The anti-matter is turned against the four Buus creating them. They are broken down and destroyed.
One Buu asks how XXI did that. Another Buu replies he has no clue. Buu wonders to himself what is going on. He isn't sure how XXI could reverse his spells back on him so fast. That type of spell combination would require intimate knowledge of the spells used to create it in order to reverse it. That spell was a personal invention of his own created from several different branches of magic, no magic user should be able to easily overcome it. XXI holds out his hand and whispers something Buu cannot hear. All the Buus loses their form and start returning to the original Buu body, much to Buu's shock. All the pieces of Buu out in the arena, stadium, and even the one with Uub are all forcefully returned to Buu's original body. In a flash there is only one Buu.
Completely stunned and terrified Buu can only look on at XXI. XXI fires a huge ki blast, but Buu is able to dodge it. Buu point blank asks XXI how he is doing this. XXI doesn't reply, and enrages Buu. He demands XXI answers him now, but again he receives no answer. Buu loses his cool and screams he will not accept being ignored by a lesser being. "I am Buu! I am omnipotent! I am all-knowing! I am an Almighty God! You will fall before me!" Buu powers up to his full power for the first time at the tournament.
Outside of the black smoked covered ring the characters react to Buu's full power. U18 is astounded by how powerful Buu has become. Goku comments on how Buu's current power dwarfs the amount of power he used against Gotenks. U16 Bra cannot believe Buu is this powerful. Vegetto begrudgingly admits Buu's power is stronger than his SS2 form. He hastily adds this level is well below his SS3 form. U16 Piccolo thinks that since Vegetto can only maintain SS3 for seconds that Vegetto having more raw power than Buu might not matter in the long run. Comparing Buu's vast magical power along with physical power Piccolo feels Vegetto would probably lose to Buu in a fight.
Back in the ring Buu blitz' passed XXI and gets behind him. He fires a huge ki blast. Buu laughs. XXI's magical power isn't worth anything if he is still slower than Buu. Just like before the black smoke appears and reforms into the shadowy figure of XXI. Mad at another failed attack Buu tries turning XXI into candy, but XXI deflects the beam. Buu splits himself apart again, only to have his doubles undone and forced back inside of him. Frustrated and mad Buu glares at XXI. He thinks XXI won't be so smug when Buu creates a black hole. He knows a move like that will kill everyone in the area he dismisses it. Once he has killed XXI, he will just revive everyone and restore everything again. Before Buu makes his move XXI finally speaks, "It's ready."
Suddenly Buu's body starts losing its form. Again, he asks XXI what is going on. This time XXI answers. He tells Buu how difficult he is to deal with as he is now. He had been given two ways to defeat Buu. The first was way was of course to re-seal him, but since Buu had a counter spell for it the first method failed. The second method was a longer and more complicated. This method reverts Buu back into his original form. Upon hearing this Buu cries. He is left begging XXI not to do this. He doesn't want to lose everything he has gained. Buu offers to surrender the match if XXI just stops his spell. He cannot bear to go back to being a savage beast. Buu fears going back to that even more than being sealed away. XXI only says he cannot stop this spell now.
Buu morphs back into Super Buu. He cries how he cannot recall all the knowledge he gained. He can feel his mind going. Super Buu morphs back into Kid Buu. His speech just becomes loud grunts. The sharp drop in Buu's power catches everyone outside of the ring by surprise. XXI re-casts the sealing spell. Kid Buu is reimprisoned in his shell. The Black smoke clears, revealing XXI's shadow figure and Buu's shell. XXI asks for a countdown. 30 seconds passed and XXI is declared the winner. Vegetto asks XXI what happened. XXI answers he re-sealed Buu. Vegetto asks about the smoke and why he they couldn't see it. Much like in the actual comic XXI says he doesn't have to answer Vegetto's questions. He leaves the ring. Goku gives Vegeta a look. He asks Vegeta if Buu's sharp drop in power meant he was transformed back to his original form, like what happened in their universe 20 years ago. Vegeta frowns and says they need to learn more about XXI. Back in XXI's room we see him fall to the floor, out of breath. He mumbles that was close. Using that much of his magical power in his current state was too dangerous. He needs to get his wish granted.
The chapter would end there. I figured I would make this U4 Buu's great send off. Buu gets to show his full power is and show case more of his magical power. By showing off what Buu can do it also works to show how dangerous XXI is. The goal was for him to counter all of Buu's spells. Buu doesn't understand how he is able to do that. For the first time at the tournament someone is able to best him at every possible turn. XXI was even able to force all his pieces and copies back into Buu, which negates his greatest advantage. The last reveal XXI had a spell that could revert Zen Buu back to his original form as a last resort. It is Buu's greatest fear, even more than being sealed away. It is essentially the death of Buu's identity. The last few moments with him, act as tragic end. Like or dislike the character I think everyone can empathize with Buu not wanting to go back to his original personality. When it is all said and done Buu just loses it all and gets sealed away again. The ending is meant to show XXI has limits. Using his power was taking a toll on his body. He really needed to use the spell to turn Buu back into Kid Buu to seal him away. XXI is shown to be powerful, but there is still a reason for why he prefers quick wins and simple spells. Even though he defeated Zen Buu that it was by no means an easy feat as it seemed to be.
