Now I kind of want to see U17 special. I'm curious as to why the Cell Juniors that came with Cell to the tournament were still SS1 level while Cell himself trained to get SS3 tier on his own. I would think Cell would train his children to help improve himself and to make stronger opponents for himself so he was always guaranteed to have a strong opponent.

Even before DBM I've always assumed no, dunno why, I just have. But I have always thought they can improve their fighting prowess through experience.

That is probably what Salagir is working under for Cell Juniors in DBM. It would make sense as to why they haven't aged or gotten stronger.
I just figured the Juniors were like how Piccolo birthed his children. They can get older and grow stronger. I had this cool idea that Cell would randomly kill all of his children except one to make it hate him and motivate it to train to try to kill Cell as this Itachi like plan to have a child grow strong enough to fight him. The kid challenges the old man after some time, gets beaten and killed, then Cell makes a new batch of children to start the whole thing over again. I just figure it would be a fun idea, but it definitely won't happen in DBM. Man, I would have been cool if we saw a grown Cell Junior in U17 who entered for a chance to kill his father.

Can they even grow? While Cell is biological, he was still manufactured and I never got the impression that he could "age" and just extended that to the Jr's, who imo, are even more limited in their functionality.
Cell naturally growing/aging doesn't sit well with me for some reason. Something to do with going against Gero's design. Can't properly explain it atm coz I'm tired but I'm sure you get what I mean.

Cell wouldn't be perfect if he aged. Why would you deliberately incorporate a flaw in a design that you claim to be perfect?

Nothing was ever stated to my knowledge. You're right, nothing was ever stated. These are merely my baseless assumptions. Same here. I was just making conversation on an idea I thought was cool. I have no clue on rather Cell is ageless or not. I could go either way to be honest. Cell is ageless and cannot die of natural causes would be fun, but I could also see Cell being a blow hard who misunderstood what the computer meant by Perfect form and assume he truly is a perfect being that cannot die of age or be rivaled in power only to find out as he kicks the bucket of old age that Perfect just meant the name of his final designed form lol.

Well I re-watched the DBZA Cell 3 part finale last night and Cell claims that he is ageless. BAM! canon.
But seriously, it makes more sense if he is. I mean why construct :the perfect being" that will be hampered by old age.
Cell can also regress to earlier forms kinda like that "immortal jellyfish" or was it a squid? Either way this thing turns itself back into a baby then starts all over again.

For what it’s worth, in the Funimation dub as Super Cell is charging his Kamehameha he taunts Gohan by saying: “And just before you die, I want you to remember something... I WILL LIVE FOREVER!!!”
Maybe it was an anime-only or dub-only line (after all ty did correct the warp kamehameha plot hole by saying Cell regenerates fromANY cell instead of just his head lump) but they had to have gotten that idea from SOMEWHERE.
Whatever it is, it’s the reason I’ve always assumed Cell doesn’t age.

I think it depends. From the looks of it Gero was able to stop 17 and 18 from physically aging with his cybernetic process, but I'm not sure if Cell has any cybernetics. I think Cell may be designed to stay in his physical prime longer thanks to Namek, Freeza, and Saiyan cells in his DNA, but I'm not sure if Gero is skilled enough to create something that cannot age completely. Or I see Cell's design may not allow him to physically age, but he will eventually die once its reaches its life span's limit. Cell calls itself Perfect, but he is still man made creature created from science. I could see Cell still not being able to overcome biological limitations the same way Majin Buu can thanks to his creation being entirely on magic, which has a different set of rules from technology.
I could see Cell Juniors being a function is to create more Cells and possibly have them grow and develop the same way as Cell. The function could be to allow Cell to reproduce to account for Cell's biological limits and have some form of Cell that would always exist and have the same potential as Cell to keep Gero's perfect creation alive in some form.

Nice thing the poll is still open. At first I voted for a universe 13 special, when the thread was created. Now, I have to say, I am satisfied by Ouv's U13 Special. Therefore, I will change my (first) vote to U16. The current Majin Arc in the main story raises a question for me personally. How could Bra turn out like this? And I think beside her psychotic tendencies and intending to blow up Earth over a hissy fit. I actually want to know more. What exactly happened that Vegetto forbid her to use the SSJ2 transformation. Maybe it's just Vegetto's precaution because he knows about his daughter's emotional state and mood changes. But maybe something special happened, something worth doing a whole special chapter.

I know people are getting sick of them, but I think that is more due to last U16 specials being stuff we could have guessed (Vegetto defeating Majin Buu) or being silly ones like Vegetto finding a scouter to read Baby Bra’s power level when she was born. We only have one real U16 special that dived into the characters and gave us significant information. That was one of the best specials in the comic IMO. I want to know if some of my guesses on Bra are correct or not. I’ve been speculating for years now that Bra’s reason for wanting power is to get her father’s attention. How she has identity issues based on how she was so insisted she was Son Bra despite it bothering Bulma that she took that name instead of hers. There is a lot to explore with all these characters that can make them multilayered and make for a good story I think. At the very least I think while U16 Bra seems like Vegeta on surface that if we dig deeper into her we would see she is a different type of beast altogether. I think there is a bigger reason for a 5 year old to being bummed she is not as strong as her dad than just being bratty. Vegetto just leaving things to Gohan really does make me think he was away a lot and Bra thinks she needs to be strong to get his attention and possibly his love.

Nice thing the poll continues to be still open. Gonna change my votes again. This time for U3 & U6 I took a look at my old speculations for potential future specials. And I noticed that I was right quite often. And my fragile ego now desperately needs the self-affirmation of how good I am at anticipating things. lol. Except for the extremely short specials, I've anticipated all of the previous ones in one way or another since the end of 2018. All right, what did I win? And don't be embarrassed to just call me the Oracle of the DBM Forum in the future. About U4 The fact that U4 is the last universe in DBM that seperated from the original DBZ means that there aren't many alternative stories to be told, but rather completely new stories not bounded to the (remaining) Z-warriors or earth at all. That makes me rather exited, tbh. While I'm really impressed by DBM's accuracy to retell an alternate story with all details in characterizations, continuity, etc. U4 brings us the opportunity the tell new things and in this regard proving that characterization and development is in fact one of DBM's strong points. Zen Buu is too op. So, while most Dragonball fans would complain about the lack of fighting, I think a special solely focusing on Buu mental state could be indeed interesting if done correctly, of course. Zen Buu does have a s**t tone of screentime in DBM after all. He has his own kind of god complex I want it to be explored more somehow.I'd say Special Chapter 67 did the trick. I didn't think of a U4 variation of Hildegarn, but I did like the display of Zen Buu's God complex. About U9 I'll be honest. I don't want to see a special about the humans in near future. The hype around them makes it very easy to develop high expectations for this universe. U9 can fall short of expectation very fast when the very first special about them isn't a real zinger, after so many patience. The longer we wait, the worse it gets. A fanfic about U9 could prepare us what we can expect from a possible U9 chapter. But I guess releasing a fanfic first before releasing a special manga chapter could be seen as an equivalent to DBS releasing the anime before the manga. But if done correctly a fanfic could inform us overall about the most important events without focusing so much on the fighting, while after reading the fanfic we could finally indulge in the fighting in the manga chapters leaving out abundant information for the fanfic. What can I say. I was right. Nobody likes the Frankenstein monster named Special Chapter 69. About U12 The Majin Attack was really something many people wanna forget and maybe change to the better. But there is a possible story in the future timeline that was never really portrayed in manga form, sadly. How did the Z-Warriors defeat Mecha Freeza & King Cold without the help of Future Trunks? The Fan Manga "A Dream From The World" already showed us some potential in this. Unfortunately, it only mentions it at the beginning skimming through most of it, how Post Yadra Goku oneshots Mecha Freeza. The fanfic "One Way" chapter 17-32 portray the fight. And I like it. It's long as well. In a special chapter, you could focus on the most crucial parts (and change the reason why Goku arrived so late to the battlefield. The fanfic reason was really dumb.) But we could finally have this epic fight in manga format. They actually compressed the dozen fanfic chapters into one long special chapter ( CH71). And some silly scenarios were even left out. About U13 It's because of Raditz. He's my favorite character in DBM, simple as that. I already put much effort to explain it in another thread. To figure out more about the relationship between the two brothers is very interesting to me. Vegeta achieving SSJ first is just of secondary importance.Alright, it never occurred to me that you could make a short story around kid Kakarot killing Grandpa Gohan ( CH72). I liked it all the more in Ouv's U13 Special Chapter 74 to see how the relationships develops among the remaining Saiyans. We don't get much more insight into Kakarot's and Raditz's relationship, but since it's about a group dynamic and Kakarot just met Nappa & Vegeta, that's quite understandable. About U16 And again the fanfic. Enough plot to put into manga format. The family drama between the Briefs and Sons, the Senzu Bean arc, etc. Alot of stuff possible to put into a special chapter. Similar to U4, we can go further and don't have to stay in the category of retelling already known stories in alternative takes.Nice thing the poll is still open. At first I voted for a universe 13 special, when the thread was created. Now, I have to say, I am satisfied by Ouv's U13 Special. Therefore, I will change my (first) vote to U16. The current Majin Arc in the main story raises a question for me personally. How could Bra turn out like this? What exactly happened that Vegetto forbid her to use the SSJ2 transformation. Maybe it's just Vegetto's precaution because he knows about his daughter's emotional state and mood changes. But maybe something special happened, something worth doing a whole special chapter. It was even worth doing 2 specials. lol. Whereby Bra's character was explored only in Special Chapter 77. But at least we actually have some insight as to why Bra is not allowed to use the SSJ2. About U18 Like other already stated, a DBM adaptation of the movie with Hildegarn and Tapion is desirable. SSJ3 Goku really plotarmored his way to beat Hildegarn in the movie. And DBM already showed how a retelling of a movie can actually work, if done correctly. B ut I really love to see a special chapter about fanfic chapter 3. The way how Mystic Gohan and Vegeta are portrayed in this is just epic and align perfectly to their character development at the end of DBZ. It also informs us that Vegeta's new goal in life is not to surpass Goku but the Mystic power Gohan achieved, because he despise the fact that a Saiyan would accept this ritual and unlock all potential, and especially Gohan of all people who doesn't deserve this power at all because since the Cell arc he never did anything to be proven to deserve something like this and with the lack of any work ethics. It all simply drops into Gohan's lap, and this is what Vegeta despise. (Trunks and Goten at least get what they deserve for not training, they are weak and can't even achieve SSJ2). The fanfic chapter also portrays how Vegeta already plans to avoid the SSJ3 transformation, knowing about its weakpoints, and that he first wants to fight against Goku ever again when he knows for sure that he finally surpassed the Mystic powers by himself. Nice reference to the first DBM manga chapter, where Vegeta stated that he is ready to face Goku in a fight, the DBM tournament preferable, insinuating that he finally surpassed Mystic Gohan. Like Arcady Picardi literally drew this just for me because I love the fanfic version so much. Just for comparison, the Future Mecha-Freeza vs Z-Fighters special covers a whole 15 fanfic chapters, while Special Chapter 78 covers only one fanfic chapter. Seems like it was important to the DBM team to dedicate this short side story to a standalone special. About U20 There is not much to be looking for. DBM Broly is not interesting and he most probably simply killed all z-warriors. To be exact, some killed themselves like a bunch of idiots. Let's move on and not mention U20 any further. About U1 The killing potential threats montage was a clever way to reduce the number of specials in this universe without wasting space and time. But I could suggest an indepth analysis how the Kaioshins defeated the previous legendary Saiyan before Broly, could be interesting. And it wouldn't be such out of context for DBM because the Supreme Kais themselves stated this. Some people are surely sick of another version of Broly right after this U3 version. But looking at other potential specials, I guess, there is no way to ignore Broly in DBM specials. Then at least explain the "legend" behind it and confirm Romanesco's existence visually in comic/manga form. Nonetheless, this could improve the Supreme Kais reputation as not just complying with the 5 point plan to turn into Zamasu but actually more grayish and more justified actions outside than just being the guardians of the universe. And we could finally have Prehistoric Hanasia in the DBM comic other than the one single panel on page 554. I'm clearly referring that Hanasia fanfic chapter 17 should be turned into an independent special itself and of course include some more things. For example, finally confirming that the word of god tropes information stated by Toriyama (long before DBS came out) that Saiyans arrived on planet Plant with a spaceship from another place, is not part of DBM continuity, or finally establishing how Tuffles actually look like in DBM, because the cover page of chapter 40 is not convincing enough, imo. And maybe, tease a little bit the relationship between Tuffle race and Saiyan race 1000 years before King Vegeta's Saiyan reign. Yeah, so weird. No one thought to include a special on how the Vargas discover their multiverse travel and how it comes to the tournament.
All right, all kidding aside. Really like this thread a lot. Fun to look back and see if you might have guessed correctly which specials might actually still show up. Although I would love to come up with more theories about potential specials. I'd like to throw out some news here first that is still very fresh. Genghis, do you remember Dalmasso's sketches about the U3 special he's working on? The sketches that were released back in 2018? iron leaf It was actually Raditz and a bunch of saiyan kids that went to Earth. Look up Fabian Dalmasso. It hasn't been released yet: We now have confirmation. He is done with his chapter apparently. And it only took 5 years. The guy has got an iron butt to work on a single project/chapter for that long. bk-81 for comparison only took 1 year for her U3 double special. With announcements like this, you actually realize how kick-ass Asura actually knocks out the main chapters and is generally an exceptional artist. And how desperately Salagir is not only looking for new artists, but waiting for the completion of already long-commissioned chapters. I'm super excited to see when we can expect Dalmasso's special.
