Since Fusion Dance and Potara fusion being common knowledge, would Goku ever bother to teach someone Instant Transmission? It would have been practical during the Cell saga. After his return 7 years later into the Buu saga, he only taught the Fusion Dance to the kids.
LoL I just remembered that even Cooler (Metal Cooler) was able to pull that off and they were fighting in IT space. XD
EDIT: Whis not able to use the IT is weird. Angels above Kais and GoD use only a light speed travelling technique? While a Supreme Kai can use IT? Of course they are familiar with the power of all gods and so is Whis.
@skar
Could they have taken some good ideas from Naruto? Since Naruto was inspired by DB (I might be wrong! I read it somewhere) it actually did good with the pacing and giving each character cool screen time. I really liked it. (In my opinion. Also, some fillers were plain boring)

What i feel is if you want to add new sagas, don't drag back the characters that finally got their endings. Start with Gohans life, as DBZ was essentially coming of age for Gohan. Develop Goten and Trunks as the next true successors. Maybe introduce new characters through World Tournaments and make jokes about the times when Goku was around and how it was easy. Maybe bring some Gokuness in Goten (Would help in boosting him. He's like invisible in DBS and turns up only for fusion dances) the interaction with F. Trunks would help P. Trunks grow up responsibly. Vegeta mentoring them maybe show some new kind of adventure in this post Buu world. Maybe go to a new world and discover stuff. (I liked the other world tournament thing. Maybe expand on Pikkon and other guys. Wonder what's Grand Kai up to?) I wouldn't mind a sequel focusing on a younger cast. It's might sound weird but I think I would've preferred if Goku stayed dead after the Buu saga. That way it would preserve his characterization and development and there would be less of a chance that anyone would try to milk the series without the most popular character still around. If they wanted to make a sequel, they would be forced to use the next generation and develop them instead of relying mostly on fan service and giving the two most popular characters the most screen time.

Like Symbiotic said, figuring out a way to get The Big Three out of the picture (in the case of my fanfic, sending them off right from the beginning to take on the apparent Big Bad) is the only way to really get everyone else to shine. Imagine how much trouble even a MSS-level opponent would give everyone else on Earth, especially slacker Goten and Trunks. And thankfully, it's a lot easier to justify Android or Cell-tier baddies than it is to explain stronger-than-Buu baddies. @skar I'm really torn on the "Goku staying dead" idea. Bringing him back neatly sabotaged Gohan, Goten, and Trunks' role in the story, and dragged out the saga in weird ways. But then again, I think Vegeta's story was still incomplete without Goku coming back and needed the "You're better than me, Kakarot" scene. Not to mention that Buu saga really does have quite a nice ending: everyone's alive, Vegeta's at peace, Gohan's getting married, etc. The question I have is, could we still give Vegeta the character growth he needed without Goku coming back in the Buu saga? Would we even need to? Where might the story go if it was mainly Gohan, Goten, and Trunks' show?

Also, some fillers were plain boring) I've never watched Naruto so I'm not too familiar with how the characters are used. I've seen some fight scenes on Youtube and they look pretty cool! I liked that they had unique techniques. I guess that alone means the screen time could be shared because certain techniques can be effective against others and some would give an advantage in different situations. Ever since 2011 I've been working on a fanfic that features Uub, Pan, and Goten as the main trio. Like Symbiotic said, figuring out a way to get The Big Three out of the picture (in the case of my fanfic, sending them off right from the beginning to take on the apparent Big Bad) is the only way to really get everyone else to shine. And thankfully, it's a lot easier to justify Android or Cell-tier baddies than it is to explain stronger-than-Buu baddies. Do you have a link to this story? That sounds like a good way to give the younger characters some screentime. Goku and Vegeta love fighting so much that it would be hard to see them willingly sit out a battle . If they're preoccupied with something else then at least the only ones available are the younger generation. My bad I should've clarified. I meant that the Buu saga still played out the same way but Goku remains dead at the end. Instead of Old Kai giving his life to Goku, King Yemma gives Goku an extra day like he did with Vegeta. Vegeta would still get his character development and Goku spends some time on the Lookout with the others before saying good bye. I'm not sure exactly where it would go but I meant more as a definitive ending to discourage anyone from wanting to continue the story . At least if they tried, it would require more creativity and using the other characters instead of mainly giving Goku more transformations and having him take up most of the screentime. Goku is my favorite fictional character so I'm kinda torn between the two options. I would like to see more of him but at the same time I don't want him "degrade" or lose some of his character development. The BS character flaw they made up for him in ROF was probably the most disappointing thing for me in modern DB.

We literally don't know how Goku learned IT, he only described what he had to do... so basically he explains the end results but he doesn't tell the in between steps of his training. Cooler doing it was just for show. And to piss Vegeta off. He ain't canon anyway. Hell Meta(L)-Cooler shouldn't even be canon. He should've been incinerated in the sun completely. Whis already has time rewind so he'd be broken if he could both travel through time and warp through space. Pick and chose. Ability to warp time (rewind)... or warp space(Instantaneous movement) Also it must be a way to balance out the system. Kaioshins can go anywhere to create but are weaker than GoDs. Destroyer gods have their life force connected to the Supreme Kai in case they go rogue I believe. Angels can't operate if their GoD is dead, literally inactive and the angels (and by extension GoDs bc Beerus used Whis to move planet to planet) can't pop anywhere they want as a way to slow down their GoD's path of destruction.

AshanarkThat's one of the things I like about DB Generations, that Pan, Bra and even Uub are following in the footsteps of Goku and Vegeta while they and Gohan deal with A-tier villains. Even that current running story whose name escapes me has Rildo and Bebi attack Earth while the main cast are off in the U6/U7 tournament. I also know one fic that destroys Vegeta's soul to get him out of the way and has Gohan beat Buu so Goku doesn't have to come back, which does the job but the first step is a bit too far if you ask me. One way to give Vegeta that last character development point, like @skar said, would be to have Old Kai not give his life for him but to have Yemma give him a day the same as Vegeta. It doesn't tie up as much as Goku being alive, but neither did the Cell Saga.

Do you have a link to this story? That sounds like a good way to give the younger characters some screentime. Goku and Vegeta love fighting so much that it would be hard to see them willingly sit out a battle . If they're preoccupied with something else then at least the only ones available are the younger generation. No, I don't have a link yet, but someday I will! I'm currently working on another fanfic set in the Dragon Ball universe, featuring a completely original cast and locations. Once I finish that one, I'll upload it somewhere and work on the DBZ sequel fanfic. I've got a good script of what happens, so it shouldn't take long to write. Writing a DBZ sequel is really a pickle. The gap between EoZ Goku and Vegeta and everyone else is so huge that if something's powerful enough to give them trouble, then there's no way in heck anyone else can save the day without some serious nonsense taking place. But if Goku and Vegeta are around and can handle the problem, then it's not really meaningful if Pan or Uub save the day, because they're redundant. (It's like how having Beerus watch Goku and Gold Frieza fight took all the tension away.) My idea was to give both the old and the new generation a threat they each have to deal with. Basically Goku and Vegeta buy time fighting the big baddie while the kids search for a way to beat him. Both objectives are equally important: if Goku and Vegeta fail, the kids fail and everyone dies; if the kids fail, Goku and Vegeta fail and everyone dies. We'll see how well it works when I finally finish it. The weird thing about Dragon Ball is that Goku is its greatest strength, but also its greatest weakness. He's so awesome that we want to see a lot of him, but too much of him and the story gets repetitive and meaningless; both Super and GT have made this mistake. It's my opinion that if you took all the GT arcs and replaced Goku with literally any other character, just about all of its problems would be fixed. EDIT: Symbiotic I'll have to give Dragon Ball generations a look. I've thought a lot about how to rewrite the Buu saga to still hit all the same high notes, but not have as much of the craziness. Vegeta becoming good, Hercule becoming a hero, and having the world save itself with the Spirit Bomb are the top priorities for me. Honestly I think a Gohan/Hercule interaction would work better than Goku/Hercule, as it would allow Hercule to more directly atone for stealing Gohan's credit for beating Cell. The only problem is Vegeta. If it was Gohan fighting Buu on Kai Planet instead of Goku, could Vegeta still have his epiphany?

This latest episode caused me to think a little bit, and I came to a conclusion that surprised even me.
Note: I'm aware this was a silly filler episode. But it still got me thinking.
As we know, DB evolved into The Saiyan Show and Friends at some point in DBZ, and then transformed (this isn't even my final form!) into the Goku & Vegeta show afterwards. But if the last filler episode is anything to go by...I'm actually okay with this.
Mostly. We still need more Piccolo simply for the tactical brainpower, but everyone else I've just stopped caring about.
- #18 apparently knows nothing about Krillin except that he showers his family with love, affection, and presents. - Roshi remains unchanged as the immortal pervert he is. - Oolong remains unchanged. - Pilaf is a child, but is still Pilaf. - Bulma is willing to torture Shenron so Goku can get a shiny rock for a time machine that she KNOWS Beerus and Whis won't like. - Bulma is willing to risk the wrath of Beerus (who last time we checked, is still far above Goku's ability to truly defend against) for creating a time machine, a grave sin to the gods. - Bulma wants to build a time machine despite having directly seen the remaining population of Earth get wiped out because of a mad god who hated time travel. - Bulma wants to do all this after seeing Zen-Oh obliterating everything when it went from bad to worse.
All the aforementioned people preferred to have their wish (what a husband wants as a present, sexy women, world domination, a shiny rock, etc) over resurrecting King Kai.
Nevermind that without King Kai's help Nappa and Vegeta would've blown their planet to smithereens. Nevermind that King Kai's techniques were the only thing keeping Goku in the fight against Frieza long enough for him to go Super Saiyan. Nevermind that Goku killed the poor guy because Gohan got a bit too sadistic for his own good and Cell almost blew the planet to smithereens. Nevermind that King Kai tipped Vegeta off about Beerus arriving to the planet so he could shred his pride and try to keep Beerus from murdering everyone. Nevermind that King Kai's Kaioken was the only thing that stopped Hit from just pwning Goku and having the Earth under Champa's fat thumb.
No, screw that guy, Oolong wants another pair of panties! Roshi wants bitches and booze! Screw King Kai, he probably prefers being dead anyway (how does she even know?)! Let me make a wish so I can find out what my husband wants! Screw that guy, we want to take the wish and we don't even know what to wish for!
Like...seriously? If this is an indicator of what the rest of the cast would look like then between this display and characters like Yamcha not being relevant since getting killed by a Saibaman I'd honestly just prefer having the Goku and Vegeta show. At least they still have their little rivalry shtick going for them.
The cast here was just plain...UGLY. Aside from that one moment when Gohan showed up with a sick Pan there was no ounce of decent humanity from anyone besides Goku and Gohan. These people didn't even have the drive to look for the dragon balls themselves, they're just trying to leech off of Goku's moment of kindness.
I don't even care about King Kai all that much, but damn.

Whis already has time rewind so he'd be broken if he could both travel through time and warp through space. Whis can judo chop a berserk Beerus (gotta watch that wasabi) and KO him with one hit. He was already broken even before the reveal that he could rewind time.

Talk about missed opportunity. King Kai being wished back and everyone hunting for the Dragon Balls could have been an awesome 2-3 episode mini-arc where they could act as breather episodes and be slice of life episodes people love.
Goku decides to help King Kai and tells Krillin and Bulma. They all reminisce how they all met because of the Dragon Ball hunt and they decide to help Goku out like the old days as a sort of celebration/anniversary. Goku, Krillin and Bulma go on hunt with their kids, Goten, Maron, and Trunks, maybe Oolong, Yamecha, Pura tag along. 18, Chi-chi, Vegeta, and the others prepare for a giant party for when they come back in honor of their success.
No Instant Transmission or flying at top speeds, but going on planes, boats, and crap like the old days. It can be a fun trip where the parents not only get to hang out like old times, but get to bond with their kids, and the kids can get to bond with each other. We've barely seen Goten and Maron talk to each other, which is insane considering how close Goku and Krillin are. On the other end you can have Vegeta and 18 not really getting the whole slow DB hunt when Goku can just get them all super fast with Instant Transmission. You can have Chi-chi explain how the hunt isn't really what is important itself, but rather its just their way of celebrating how they all came together thanks to the DBs. They can all bond over their partners changed their lives themselves and forge their own bonds because of it.
At the end of the min-arc King Kai gets resurrected, we get fun adventure, character development with our returning characters, and creating a new dynamic with characters. Chi-chi, 18, and Vegeta sounds crazy or they may not have anything in common, but them forging something through their love of family and wanting to be closer since their respective spouses are such close friends. Goten and Trunks is nothing new, adding Maron into the mix could add more to them. The adventures wouldn't be as grand as they were when Goku and Bulma were kids, but it could be character driven episodes.

IMPLEMENT A FEATURE WHERE WE CAN LIKE A POST MULTIPLE TIMES AT ONCE THIS INSTANT!
Jokes aside, it's interesting how random fans can create a better script in 10 minutes than an ENTIRE FUCKING TEAM OF PROFESSIONALS can in a week...It is not that interesting or far fetched. Fans get immersed in the world of fictional works that we tend to bring a unique perspective that writers can sometimes miss. DB was huge, so writers would probably look at what DB/Z had and try to replicate it. A fan might try to do that, but also look at what they wished the series did or how to fix things and craft ideas based on that. The DB cast is probably just seen as comic relief or supporting the stars, Goku and Vegeta. They are mostly used for comedy and act as support system for our heroes, their day in the limelight aren't given much significance. We fans tend to think of and try everything, hence why there is such a large array and variety of fan fiction. The idea of Chi-chi and 18 hanging out to get to know each other better for Goku and Krillin's sake is probably going to be something a fan might consider more because we're looking at this characters as more than bit players meant to advance the stars. In fairness the writers do seem capable of doing this when they want to, otherwise we wouldn't have gotten Future Trunks bonding with Present Trunks or his reunion with Gohan. Another problem is when anime tend to focus on comedy based episodes they usually go for what they think will be funny over everything else.

Maybe it's me but I thought his Black Goku should've been more like a raspier voice than the one in XV2. His current Black version... lol... was too low and even then it was hard to hear. Or maybe I'm thinking his Black voice should've been more sadistic. We'll see if he changes from the video games.
(One with him as batman. Tried to find the one in another anime where he sounded "corrupt" but there were too many dbz ones XD)

Are the other universes as mismanaged as U7? If it hadn't been for luck and Dai Kaio's quick thinking in the final battle against Buu, all the Kaioshin would be dead and Beerus and Whis would join them.
Which leads to my next question. The kaioshin are born from the divine tree every couple of million years. So in the scenario above, when the new wave of kaioshin are born, would Beerus and Whis revive or would there be new gods and angels formed?
I'm starting to think that the lack of Kaioshin in U7 is part of a Batman gambit by Zeno to replace Beerus for slacking off on the job or get him to take it seriously since he's down to one lifeline.

I think the god of destruction is selected. Beerus offered the job to Goku at one point. The Kaioshins are born then a god of destruction is selected and his or her life-force is tied to them to keep them in check. Perhaps Buu would have been the new god of destruction had all the Kais been killed and Beerus died.

>"Why didn't Supreme Kai get Beerus?" question Out-of-universe: RETCON In-universe justification: Perhaps East Kai didn't go get Beerus because he didn't know where to find him? He was the younger Kaioshin, Super's already established multiple times he wasn't fully trained, maybe he'd never gone to Beerus' planet before. As far as I know there's no easy way to communicate with Beerus (there is no Beerus-button), and with all of the universe to search and Beerus probably dormant for huge periods of time, it would've been hard to find him without help. Finding some really strong mortals might've been Supreme Kai's best bet.
>God of Destruction selection process It makes me wonder how much of Beerus' power is due to his race, how much of it is due to god ki, and how much is due to training. When I first saw Battle of Gods I figured Beerus was so strong because he'd had 75 million years to train. But Champa is almost as strong as Beerus, and he's a fat slob. So maybe it's more of a racial thing with god ki on top. The cat-people could be like Frost Demons and just stupidly strong from birth.

Beerus who was originally a fighter at heart got bored with no other challenges in his universe, so he eventually started slacking off on his duties as god of destruction and became less involved as he should be. I imagine Beerus is how Goku would become if he took up the offer of god of destruction and ran out of strong opponents to challenge him. It would be neat if Beerus remaining strong is meant to have Goku avoid reaching the top and realizing there is nothing left for him to conquer and losing his passion altogether, which goes back to why Roshi pretended to be Jackie Chun in DB back when Goku was a kid to act as that always someone better than you rival to keep Goku motivated to improve.

Roshi knew the importance of this as you mentioned, which is why he intervened in the tournament. We see Roshi's prediction unfortunately come to pass when he defeats King Piccolo. When Goku defeated King Piccolo and met with Popo (and was thus introduced to the almighty Pecking Order) he thought he was on top of the world. Interestingly enough, Kami told Goku then what Beerus and Whis are telling the crew now. In fact, in a way the events above are being mirrored in DBS, just with Beerus and Whis replacing Popo and Kami. Goku's once again on top (since Gohan is slacking off again) and then someone from above hops down and effortlessly mocks him in fighting ability. "Don't make fun of me" indeed. There's even a moment where Beerus just grabs him and throws him like a sack of potatoes just like Popo did. The duo later tells the cast they shouldn't rely on them in the Zamasu arc bringing the whole thing to a complete circle once again.
