I would prefer Beerus trained to stay on top though and give Goku and Vegeta a chase like Roshi did for Goku (in between the 21 and 22 end tournaments) rather than Goku and Vegeta just can't reach his level though. From a story purpose I think if Beerus needed to train to stay ahead would show how much Goku has impacted his character. In Battle of the Gods he was starved for a good fight and was pretty ecstatic afterwards when he found one in Goku. It would have been decent character development to have this spark his interest in training and reaching even new heights from his encounter with Goku. We have Beerus remaining on top and displaying his power and potential, while having him motivate Goku and Vegeta to chase after him. That way I feel like Goku and Vegeta are getting stronger and have stronger antagonists being introduced and the crazy power ups the characters seem to be getting don't feel as inconsistent.

I just don't know where to say this so anywhere is better i guess.
The Barbari from Super look like the ancestors of Vargas... No, like they grow small and feathers later after becoming an advanced society. XD Kidding.

They get so advanced they can hold interuniversal blood sports and enter realities never dreamed of by even Zeno. I think I can hear Zamasu's rage breaking from here.

WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WHAT?! So that means all but one universe is allowed to survive at the end of it?!
GOKU! WHAT HAVE YOU DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE?! But seriously, this is a stupid idea by Xeno. Only one universe survives = no more tournaments in the future = only one universe to make interesting people. Back in the days of Dragon Ball/DBZ I thought the Dragon Ball universe would be a fun place to live, but with every new saga of Super I think to myself "Eh...I'm good."

Now that the stakes are raised, can these people finally give Buu a job? Guy's the third strongest on Earth (shh Gohan), can turn mofos into candy and absorb the tough ones.

Yeah but I meant more specifically that Goku gave him the idea for the tournament to begin with . What's even worse is they won't have access to the Super Dragon Balls afterward, because Universe 6 will be destroyed (Come on. There's no way they're winning the tournament over our boys/girl in Universe 7.) It's sort of a butterfly effect. No Goku, no Beerus awakening and coming to Earth. U6/U7 tournament doesn't happen (or ends in complete curbstomp by U6), so Zeno never comes and arranges a multiverse tournament where every universe but the winner's gets destroyed. Goku may be indirectly responsible for the deaths of quadrillions of innocent sapient lifeforms. Normally I'd say Toriyama/Toei won't go through with it and will have Zeno change his mind, but I dunno...Black saga ended with the annihilation of an entire timeline, so maybe Toriyama's so absent-minded he doesn't understand the implications of entire universes getting destroyed and just thinks it's funny. I hope we see U6 get some good fights. I'm predicting that Hit will want to fight Goku again in the tournament, but before that happens he'll be a Sacrificial Lion who loses to some U3 contestant or something who's the new threat of the tournament. EDIT: Now that the stakes are raised, can these people finally give Buu a job? Guy's the third strongest on Earth (shh Gohan), can turn mofos into candy and absorb the tough ones. No, seriously. If it's just Goku and Vegeta again I'll be very disappointed. Get Buu in there.

There's some theories on reddit about how, since the Grand Priest is appearing on the marketing material for this saga, he'll be involved somehow. Maybe as a villain, maybe something else. We could very well see this tournament interrupted like Multiverse will be.

I know I'm going to be in minority here, but why don't they add Goten and Trunks? They are pretty powerful on their own and as Gotenks they are a force to be reckoned with. I don't really get this whole benching Trunks and Goten and keeping them kids. DB frankly started when Goku was a kid and had no problem having Gohan repeat that process. Growing up and becoming older was one of the stables of the series.
Anyway, I agree that Buu should be allowed to compete this time. Disqualifying him from the last tournament was stupid. Considering both manga and anime had it Toriyama no doubt thought that up because he thought it was funny and a good way to start Team 7 with a disadvantage. That was a waste to me, since Buu hasn't done much since turning good beyond hanging out with Satan/Hercule. 18 and 17 coming to compete is a welcomed surprise. Has 17 appeared before in Super to spend time with Krillin, 18, and Maron?
It is cool to think that after all this time the last villains to join the heroes are finally going to fight as Z-fighters. It looks Gohan is competing, so maybe it won't just be Goku and Vegeta carrying everyone. I don't want to get my hopes up either. This arc could be really good or another major disappointment. The whole only one universe survives aspect gives the tournament more stakes and reminds of Yu Yu Hakusho's Dark Tournament where the heroes had to compete or all their loved ones would be killed, but I have a hard time buying this series will go through with it. Zeno destroying all the universe for the sake of a game would put him in the same league as Freeza, Cell, and evil Majin Buu. I have a hard time believing even Toriyama would make the highest deity such a jerkass that he would killing trillions of trillions of lives for shits giggles then expect us to see him as a good guy by virtue of him being a god.

I just thought of this, but what if SSGSS was shortened to God Super Saiyan? The name sounds more manageable, gets the god name into, and it sounds better than Super Saiyan Blue. Thoughts, concerns, or opinions?

Since I don't understand the Japanese in Azoth's video and haven't looked this up...Goten, Trunks, Gohan, 18, and 17 are all participating? Wow, that's awesome! Of course I'll be rooting for my man Gohan to get a chance to shine, though all signs point otherwise. U7 can royally cheat by having all the Saiyans undergo the God ceremony. Having five Super Saiyan Blues will really help make them viable, though Toriyama/Toei likely won't think of this and will have everyone but Goku and Vegeta scrub out in the first round. (Lol, I don't sound bitter at all, do I?) I just thought of this, but what if SSGSS was shortened to God Super Saiyan? The name sounds more manageable, gets the god name into, and it sounds better than Super Saiyan Blue. Thoughts, concerns, or opinions? I always felt red-haired form should be Saiyan God, and blue-haired form should be Super Saiyan God. Red-haired form doesn't have anything Super Saiyan-y to me; it's just a base form with god ki added. So yeah, God Saiyan and God Super Saiyan.

I just saw a poster for Universe Survival Tournament that had Goku, Vegeta, Krillin, 18, 17, Gohan, Piccolo, Buu, and I think Tien on there too. I assumed those were the competitors. I didn't think Goten and Trunks would compete, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks Axalon. That was the picture/poster I saw. I forgot about Roshi. Kind of weird they added Roshi instead of Yamecha or the boys. Yeah, Goten and Trunks not being there is weird. They might've decided that Gotenks wasn't worth the effort? I dunno, but Roshi replacing Yamcha I could see happening. He wasn't considered important/strong enough to be invited to go fight Frieza's army of minions, but even Roshi showed up and opened up a can of ass-whoopin', so it was already kind of foreshadowed. As for my own thoughts on the roster: 1. Goku/Vegeta/Piccolo were the obvious ones. 2. Given the new stakes imposed by Zen-Oh, Gohan has no excuse at last. At least he's been kinda training to prepare. 3. As @thatguy said, Buu could very well be one of the most dangerous opponents in the tournament. Assuming his opponents aren't, say, Vegito-level, his candy beam will be a devastating weapon. Absorbing people could also make him all the more dangerous as well. 4. 17/18 was unexpected, but will give us a good gauge for Android Saga enemies. Piccolo as well truth be told. 5. Tien/Krillin/Roshi is just getting some of the old gang back together. No complaints aside from wondering how useful they'll be. Truth be told I was kinda hoping Beerus would start pulling crazy stunts (given the stakes) like bringing Frieza back and forcibly drafting him onto the team. Can you imagine if he started pulling talent from Other World? His team could be so hype.

The U7 team: Wow, that is now one of my favorite pieces of Dragon Ball art. This lineup pleases me greatly. Please please please please please let everyone get at least one good fight. Tien and Roshi particularly deserve it. Yamcha's probably so traumatized by almost dying in a baseball game that he'd want to pass up fighting in a tournament filled with freakishly strong contestants. Lol, jacket and sweatpants look a lot better on 18 than they did on Gohan
