This is what I'm thinking. The girls had been around a lot of the contestants for several days. They could have totally been used weaken a lot of the Majin slaves to help out other people, Bra being the biggest one. I am probably in the minority here, but after we got the U6 Special it really turned me around on these characters and made me regret they weren't used more. I’m in the same camp. After the U6 special it would have been better to have the girls stay. I know that DBM has never been a long planned comic. But this really shows the discrepancy between early DBM and modern DBM as of July 2023. Had Salagir thought of this back then, he probably would have kept them around. The Majin rebellion would have actually shown that teamwork can overcome the odds. But it followed more of Super where all that matters is pure power. Son Bra won and only lost because U18 Bra was lucky and didn’t get herself killed in the chaos. More teamwork than Cell leaving both Gohans out of his scheme, despite them being the strongest allies he could have had. Cell just holds up U16 Gohan needlessly at best, when both Cell and U16 Gohan should have helped U18 Gohan take out Babidi to end it all. The whole needs U16 Gohan to rage excuse was weak. U18 Gohan fought just as well if not better than U16 Gohan and he didn't need the seeing everyone getting killed to make him fight as well. Cell's clever, but the more I think about his plans for countering U16 Bra the more holes I find. He just wanted to have his cake and eat it to, by getting a rematch with a Gohan until Bra emerged then planned on using everyone else to help him take her out, to stroke his ego, about how Perfect he is.

I mean Cell was stupid enough to lose to Vegeta in an undignified way in his match the previous round. Maybe Cell isn't really all that amazing in the grand scheme of things.

I agree with this statement. Cell is my favorite DB villain and I liked the majority of his fights, but it is obvious his victory over Gohan in U17 just reinforced his inflated ego on his perfection and thus he never grew as a person at all. The Majin revolt and match with Vegeta highlight this perfectly. He fancied himself as mastermind on par with Buu and failed utterly.
