Bra honestly with her heritage feels a bit weak all things considered. Like Gohan surpassed his dad when he turned 4 and Goten could turn SS without even knowing it was a thing as a kid. Yet Bra at her very best with years of training couldn't even make Vegito go past SS1?

"His opponent is unique."
Suppose one pet character can sense Salagir's bias bonus being given to another one eh Zen Buu?

Broly with his obligatory one real sentence amid his repeated catchphrase. Also notice the bruises all over his face here.
Salagir really decided he wasn't invincible enough after this fight lmao

Oh look! Broly said something other than "KAKAROTTO!!!" xD This fight still stands out when rereading it. This really was Broly at his best in DBM for me. He is an extremely powerful warrior and force to be reckoned with. It provided. Vegetto an excellent challenge. Great fight overall.

That punched look liked it really hurt. Broly is mad at that beating he was getting from Vegetto a while ago. He was so mad he had his Vegeta showing, by proclaiming his title as if to say it is impossible for him to lose. Thinking about Vegetto's character in DBM, just made me realize this is also a battle of the egos. Self-proclaimed god vs. the Legendary Saiyan.

Will say much as I do dump on DBM Broly (And it is all deserved) this fight is a highlight of the series. Even if the feats in it seemed to get power crept as the art improves (Goku & Vegeta looked like titans by comparison despite being weaker than both) it still is a good showcase and sets the tone for DBM nicely.

Part of me wonders if Salagir decided or was at all influenced to use this as the big cold open fight of the series based off the Budokai 3 opening where Gogeta and Broly clashed. Only naturally replacing Gogeta with Vegito in this case.

I always liked this page. This whole lore thing with kaioshins and their fight the previous Legendary Saiyan.

I always liked this page. This whole lore thing with kaioshins and their fight the previous Legendary Saiyan. I liked how this does give the Supreme Kai more to their characters to. Not all of them originally agreed with killing the last LSS when he was just a baby. It shows sometimes some of them have doubts on their direct influence on mortals. At the same time, we see how dangerous Broly is, we can understand why the gods in U1/U10 decided to take threats with the potential to end the universe more seriously and intervene, long before they become too strong before for them to deal with it. The Legendary Super Saiyan's rapid growth ability and its bloody thirst makes it a major threat to the universe. It makes perfect sense the Supreme Kais would be concerned with it and killing Baby Broly before he could ever live up to his potential.

I think the line should have been edited to say: “At long last I have a rival worthy of my true power!” That way the spirit of the line is retained, while giving you wiggle room for Vegetto going past Level 1 like we have seen him do in the U16 specials. Other than that I remember being so hyped actually seeing Vegetto to SS2. I had never seen that before and it was wild.

I still find it dumb he never needed to go Level 2 on Bra. I am expected to believe a child of Potara would be that much weaker than him? Gohan was pushing past Goku's power when he was four and by all accounts Bra is supposed to be the even bigger prodigy from a way bigger source. Not to mention actually likes to fight and was trained from a young age.
But yeah given the U16 specials I presume they were made forgetting this line.

Back in the days, when Vegito was by far the strongest in the series and BoGs+ hadn't even been a concept, everyone was toying with the idea of his power if he were to transform further. This fight is so memorable because it finally forces Vegito to transform against an exponentially growing opponent. We can finally see just how much power Vegito had in reserve, against someone who can actually logically match him 1v1 (Broly is just a cool guy, people can accept him growing so strong) Obviously, this was written a decade before Vegito went SSJ3 against a random wizard in his universe. Modern multiverse misses the point of what made Vegito transforming such a big deal. Nobody wanted to see him transform to show off his huge power level, someone wanted to see him HAVING to go all out without feeling forced.

Modern multiverse misses the point of what made Vegito transforming such a big deal. Nobody wanted to see him transform to show off his huge power level, someone wanted to see him HAVING to go all out without feeling forced. I think it just a case of the creator's thought process changing as the project continued and made changes. I fully believe when the story started, they didn't intend for Bra to be near Vegetto's power yet. U16 being shocked to see Vegetto go SS2 and claiming nobody had ever pushed him to go that far then later being surprised Vegetto could go to SS3 and how much stronger he was, was meant to show how truly powerful Vegetto really is. It shows Vegetto is the height of DB power, which in fairness we never truly got to see in canon. It probably made sense to keep Bra two tiers below Vegetto. As the story progressed, and they started developing (and changing) Bra's story it started making less sense for Bra to be that much weaker than Vegetto. Vegetto's big fear that Bra will become corrupted by her own power and eventually surpass him has no weight if Bra, even nearing her prime, is still below SS1 Vegetto when she is SS2. I think that is when we started to see Vegetto go SS2 to stop Bra's SS2 rampages. In hindsight, I think DBM should have had SS2 Vegetto was needed to stop or deal with SS2 Bra's rampages but made it a point that nobody ever forced Vegetto to go SS3. That gets the same point across, of seeing the true peak of Vegetto's power, while giving Bra enough credit to her own power to warrant Vegetto's fears later on in the story, and of course Broly still remains special since he would have forced Vegetto to go SS3. That is with the power of hindsight though. Obviously, when this story was being written that Bra plot point probably wasn't even thought up yet. DBM writers should be more mindful of how or when they used SS3 Vegetto. Having Vegetto just flex against a random wizard was unneeded.
