I don't blame the competitors who decided to bow out after seeing Vegetto's power. Vegetto is so strong that flunkies are actually talking back to their evil bosses on how they are nothing compared to Vegetto and need to leave. The crazy part is their bosses aren't even mad enough to kill them for their insolence. That is how you know Vegetto is strong. The bit with Vegeta and Goku stopping Trunks and Goten from leaving made me smile. That is a funny gag and doesn't overstay its welcome. Looking back on this page it definitely seems more likely now that Gast wasn't meant to have nearly as much raw power as Vegetto or Broly. His cryptic words about infinite strength being nothing, definitely suggests he has abilities to make up for the power difference between himself and Vegetto. I do think earlier in the comic it felt like Gast was stronger than he appears now.
I wonder if we will ever get confirmation on how high Gast's ki is in comparison to other characters. That is what makes it hard to scale him.

Feels weird to have Zangya express "fuck you I'm going" but then just not leave. Bojack didn't even threaten her for that comment to get her to stay.
But yeah a show of force to get the fodder to bow out which was probably for the best given the roster size.

I am sure it'll be a nice arc that doesn't go nowhere and lead to an anti-climatic end.

Aw yes the beginning of his subplot with the Androids. I am sure it'll be a nice arc that doesn't go nowhere and lead to an anti-climatic end. This was a subplot that needed a clear direction on where to go and how to implement it into the main storyline better. I think one way we could have further advanced this plot if when XXI deactivated 18 that we had 17 accept Yamecha's help. He could have taken her to U9 Bulma (who is supposed to be at the tournament), and she could have reactivated 18. This could have been a way to endear to U14 cyborgs to Yamecha and start thinking that he might be right. |

Since we had plenty of villains who converted to good guys, maybe it's a bit refreshing, that a character can reach a point of no return? |

Kinda a lame duck resolution especially given this subplot was set up years ago only to then go "eh they are just bitches fuck em" think it is more frustrating than refreshing. |

The sad thing is I think the idea could have worked if the execution was better. That is the thing that saddens me the most. The Majin Bra fight could have worked to address her shortcomings, still had a full fight with everyone, and have Bra come to some sort of realization about herself that allows her to control her anger and gain mastery of SS2. The U4 Buu battle with U16 is still the best Bra characterization. It shows Bra's positives (which later characterization downplay) alongside her negatives (anger issues). It really makes me think if DBM had just shown this as more even handed how would reception of Bra be? When Bra hurts Vegetto and Gohan later into this fight she instantly regrets it and feels remorse. Being abrasive with an inferiority complex, and father issues can work well for characters. The execution just needs to be done carefully. On the flipside no matter how well it is done, there are going to split people on it. |
