 This is shows that Yamcha (and the human in general) has potential if Toriyama cared about him. And here's in explanation from Salagir about the Future Androids being weaker than their present counter part:  I mean, this is objectively incorrect. In the Manga Trunks thought they were weaker, but the Androids were fighting at half speed in the future and fucking around with them. Future 17 admits that much to Future Gohan (A fight Trunks was not present for). Sometimes people give Toriyama too much credit. We love the man, but he didnt think these things through. We never got a proper reason why the Present Androids were stronger, they just were. No more, no less, anything else is a headcanon. |

Having Yamecha lose in the first round a tournament does feel true to the kind of gag Toriyama would have done, but I am still bummed U9 Yamecha lost here. It would have been cool, to see him advance further in the tournament, and get to display how strong he actually is.

Arale vs Yamcha wouldn't have been as funny as 18 vs Arale, and he would've lost to XXI the exact same way as 18. It's true, we needed more U9 yamcha tho |

But yeah, given what this "arc" led to I would've rather just have Yamcha win if you were never gonna actually redeem the Androids. Least give him something rather than this waste of time subplot.
