Yup, they don't mention Zeno at all. Also, Black seemed more ruthless here than the anime.

Griffith To be honest, I preferred Manga Goku Black mainly due to him having less screen time overall . At the beginning of the saga, I was enjoying the mystery behind Goku Black and hoping he had a better origin than the usual "Evil Goku" we see in fanfiction. I was disappointed when it turned out to be a version of Zamasu who used the Super Dragonballs to switch bodies with Goku, the 27th strongest guy in the multiverse (assuming there aren't any other mortals out there stronger than Goku). Granted, he did plan on indirectly killing the Gods of Destruction and Angels so that takes out 24 out of the 26 beings stronger than Goku but that still leaves the top two who are well beyond all the other Gods combined. I would think a God as pompous and arrogant as Zamasu would prefer to switch bodies with a more powerful deity than a mortal who could never possibly surpass those Gods. I honestly would've preferred if they never included Goku Black at all and avoid the question of why Zamasu wouldn't consider switching with a god more powerful than Goku. It just felt like a really contrived and forced attempt at Evil Goku fan service. I thought Ms. Nozawa's performance as Goku Black was good but that was the only noteworthy thing about Black in my opinion. I can't say that made up for all the stuff that I didn't like about Goku Black overall. In the manga, his behavior made a little more sense to me since he actually acknowledged Zeno and how they have to evade him. I don't remember if they ever brought up Zeno in the anime and it seemed that he only considered Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks as the only people in his way to achieving his goal. He was confident in the manga but not as overconfident as in the anime because he still knew he was at the mercy of Zeno and his entire plan would fall apart if Zeno found out. Makes you wonder why Zamasu never used the super dragon balls to switch with Zeno instead?

Makes you wonder why Zamasu never used the super dragon balls to switch with Zeno instead? Seeing as Zeno effortlessly overcame Zamasu's Super Dragon Ball-given immortality, I doubt the SDBs could do anything to Zeno against his will, just like Shenron couldn't do anything to SS Goku. Who knows, the SDB's limits and relative power compared to Zeno have not been explained. Manga vs. Anime Black Debate It's kind of an inverse relationship: how chill a villain is compared to how decisive they are. Imperfect Cell got stuff done because he had no ego to slow him down; Perfect Cell, like Frieza, took his sweet time doing anything because he figured he was completely in control. Manga Black is not as arrogant and confident, but he also doesn't mess around as much. Anime Black is a lot more suave and self-assured (and a lot stronger, AND has cooler powers), but he keeps toying with the heroes instead of killing them. In many ways it's a matter of taste. Dragon Ball has so many villains that are smug and gloat that I prefer the ones that're more down-to-business, like King Piccolo, Zarbon, Imperfect Cell, and manga Black.

Thank you Conqueror Geng for the heads up. Now it is time to review this chapter: Instead of making Merged Zamasu look like a uppity jackass with godly might, I like that the manga simply made Zamasu look untouchable in subtle ways. Instead of having a Halo and being able to conjure up living entities, just make him have supersonic speed where a simple chop can knock out two super saiyan gods from their forms. Nice! And no matter who it is translating, they always give Vegeta the best dialogue. "Don't get cocky just because of that one attack! Now I only got one guy to kill. You just helped me out!" After seeing Zamasu making quick work out of Goku and Vegeta, I was surprised to see Goku blasting a hole through Zamasu with a Kamehameha. But thankfully no purple gooey mutation occurs, thus making the manga superior to its anime counterpart. Plus the fact that Zamasu is still truly immortal instead of that crappy 'mortal and immortal body fusion decay' being incorporated makes the story seem more organic and realistic to most viewers. And holy crap did Merged Zamasu performed a Human Extinction Attack? Godtube can do wonders for some who are not blessed by the author to create their own techniques! But that solo match between Goku and Merged Zamasu was fantastic despite it not being fleshed out for several chapters. Plus the katchin block attack was original and awesome to witness. But unfortunately it is confirmed; the potara fusion can only last for an entire hour. Plus Merged Zamasu will not stay fused indefinitely in the anime since Future Zamasu is not a true kaioshin yet. I like this difference from the anime since it does not overpower Zamasu too much. Future Trunks talk with Vegeta was cool to read since it is obvious that both love Bulma very dearly. Vegeta's reaction upon hearing that Future Bulma wanted to see him was both shocking and deep in the love those two have for each other. Damn I really wish she did survived Black's attack just to see her husband once again. After fusion off-screen, Vegito blasts Zamasu's body in half that travels deep in space (does this remind anyone of Vegeta using Final Flash on Cell?) before Vegito himself appears. After hearing Vegito chastising Zamasu that his fusion will only last an hour with Gowasu stating he regrets everything relating to Zamasu, Vegito eats the senzu and epicly becomes a super saiyan blue. We next get a series of some amazing panels of Vegito whooping Zamasu's ass, including Vegito 'disarming' the god with his spirit sword. Badass! Next Vegito begins to charge up his infamous Final Kamehameha while dodging katchin blocks at the same time. Interesting Shin says something I have long suspected: "The power of Vegito. Could it already be greater than Lord Beerus's?" If this translation can be trusted, then at last, Beerus has finally been surpassed by the heroes in the form of Vegito Blue! Time to celebrate my friends because it took us damn near four years since battle of gods to see the z-fighters surpass a god of destruction. Back into the action, it was pretty metal when Zamasu did say "atone for your sins with your death mortals", but Vegito unfortunately defuses before he could fire his blast that will presumably either defuse or kill (?) the immortal Zamasu from its raw power. Back as Goku and Vegeta, both are bombarded from the katchin attacks as the chapter ends in a cliffhanger. Final ThoughtsI like the fact that this chapter changes Fusion Zamasu in many subtle ways. His fusion limit, immortality status, and abilities are drastically different that makes him superior (or inferior depending on your perspective?) to his anime counterpart by miles. Unlike the anime, Goku's persona stays true to Z and gives us that old feeling we are looking at our naive, but sometimes serious and intelligent Goku back into our lives. Since Akira approves of Toyotaru's manga, I think this is the true Goku that should be displayed in Super and not the dumbass in the anime. If anybody has read the original manga, then you will know that this Goku is almost identical to that format. Good stuff indeed! While I dislike the fact the potara is truly a hour long, but seeing Vegito again (still wish we saw those panels of him actually fusing) and blasting Zamasu was cool as hell. Then seeing Vegito beating the ever living crap out of Zamasu was cool too, along with Shin suspecting that he may have finally surpassed Beerus. Hooray! I have two questions though: 1. How truly strong was Vegito in his base form? Before eating a senzu to restore his strength, it looked like he casually blasted through Zamasu's body in half without even trying since he only used one hand and fired it hastily. 2. Was Vegito Blue strong enough to truly kill Zamasu despite being a immortal. He did state "I will give you no time to regenerate" and said he will erase Zamasu without leaving a trace? Was the Final Kamehameha that powerful in the manga compared to the anime? My three true complaints however is Vegito's unnecessary quick defusion and the chapter ending in a cliffhanger. Granted the latter of the two I cannot help with, but the next chapter they better have a decent reason on why Vegito defused mad early. If it has to do with something like the Super Saiyan Blue form using too much power or the strength of the Final Kamehameha then that is sorry writing in my eyes since it will copy the anime's bad tropes. Hopefully a legitimate reason will be made regarding that. And the most important of all; no Vegito red has appeared in this chapter. Overall a solid 9 /10 for this chapter. While not perfect, but any hardcore DBZ fan will love this since it has everything a true fan will want; action and more fucking action. XD

Otherwise no, and timeline fuckery would ensue.

It was also done wrong in the anime but I wonder: When Vegetto first appeared his clothes were a fusion of just the clothes Vegeta and Son Goku wore. The same pattern shows at Zamasu and the fusion of Kibito and the Kaioshin. Why does Vegetto have the same clothes now? It's not like the fusion dance where the clothes magically appaer regardless of what they wore before ...
Next plothole: Gowasu said non of the Zamasus did become a full Kaioshin. But he had to make Zamasu a Kaioshin temporarely for him beeing able to time travel with the ring. Zamasu claimed he would be the Kaioshin now, because he killed Gowasu. So if he is not a Kaioshin how could he time travel? And I also wonder: Gowasu tells them there is a time limit because none of them are Kaioshin. But Kibito wasn't Kaioshin either and the fusion still last until they undid it with the dragonballs. WTF? Did I miss something on that matter or is it just inconsistent?

Also mangastream had just released their translation: URL: readms.net/r/dragon_ball_super/023/4212/1
I do like the dialogue that was used in this translation as well. Zamasu: "Now you foolish mortals, it is time to pay the price for defying god." Vegeta: "You bastard! Getting all cocky after just one attack. The only thing you've done is made it more convenient for me! Now I only have one asshole to kill!" Zamasu: "Defying god is the very essence of sin. Know your crime and accept judgement!" Shin: Vegito's current power... it cannot be! It already surpassed Master Beerus's." Zamasu: "Repent for your sins with death mortals!" With everything said and done, I think it is fair to say that Vegito truly has surpassed Beerus, though it will be nice if somebody who can read Japanese kanji can confirm that the raw manga scans do say that Vegito is truly stronger than Beerus.

Well against Zamasu, Vegito hoped to use the same tactic he used against Buu to stop his regeneration completely. Given that the absurd amount of raw power he has, it could be possible. Also, I too would like to see a different explanation for Vegito's early defusion. If the potaras could handle Merged Zamasu's huge power, surely Vegito Blue's power shouldn't be a problem. But I am afraid that they would go with the anime blaming that the potara had more than enough raw power to be handled.
EDIT: Another interesting thought. What about Shin and Beerus fusing? Then there won't be any weak link as its merged within one body! Sheerus or Berin would be strong enough to die only against a strong opponent/GoD and not due to someone just killing off the linked Kai.

While I dislike the 1hr time limit retcon being applied here as well, it makes a bit more damn sense than it did in the anime.
And Merged Zamasu is so much better in this one. No halo of bullshittery, no random purple monster degrade (yet). Just casually slaps Goku and Vegeta around and busts out a cool combination of Tai Chi-like fighting and summoning blocks of Katchin - then gets the same treatment when Vegetto returns. And that's another positive, Vegetto in this continues to seem like the unbeatable, allmighty beatstick that he was in Z. Curbs Zamasu with very little effort and barely even gives him a chance to fight back. Early defusion was a bit of a letdown the way it happened, but overall, a pretty good chapter.

This chapter was alright. Things are starting to drag to be honest. The arc is in a weird place where it is rushed and dragging. If this arc was envisioned or written to be a long arc that things could have been fleshed out better, such as the other gods, Zamasu' motivations, training, and more characters beyond Goku and Vegeta could have come back to help Trunks to repay him for helping them.
Zamasu's merged form got a good showing, the same with Vegetto, but at the same time it felt like things were padded out to get us there. Goku and Vegeta refusing to fuse felt like it was only there to draw things out. I'm still not a fan of the potara retcon. The time limit was one thing, but now exerting too much power reduces that time limit as well, just like the Fusion Dance. Arguably it went from being superior to it to being exactly just like it flaws and all. It is shame Vegetto couldn't have been allowed to get a V. Toriyama outlines might be hurting Super more than helping. Toriyama's ideas just feel hit and miss. Zamasu seemed to be his effort to branch out into making an anti-villain or a morally gray villain, but he ended up doing the same thing he always did with villains, especially Cell and Majin Buu. In general there were better ways to bring Future Trunks back into the story and the concept of an evil god could have been used better.
This arc has all the elements for greatness, but its falling short. The manga is trying to make things more logical and work better it is still having problems trying to reconcile Toriyama's ideas with its own. It is limiting its own potential.

Leaks from Super chapter 24. Consider yourself warned:
The portal punching is cool.
Trunks can heal people now because he trained with his Supreme Kai. That's... a thing.
Oh. Good. Goku gets to be the Big Damn Hero. I liked that Trunks was the BDH, even if it did come straight out of Teoi's ass.
According to what I'm seeing on the DBZ subreddit, Goku has mastered SSB to the point where he can keep all the energy in, nullifying the stamina issue it had. This allows him to fight on par with Zamasu2. Which means he, magically, becomes on par/stronger than Vegeto Blue.

Ok so what was the point of Vegito here if Goku could of fought Merged Zamasu on his own anyway? To pad this arc out even more. There is really no reason for Vegetto to fail other than to extend this arc further. I'm hoping this fight ends this chapter, but it looks like it will last for a few more. This arc went off the rails in both manga and anime. Toriyama may not to go back into retirement. His ideas seem to be bad.

Well at least Vegito's potara thing isn't just a Toei-ism. Also seems like Goku perfecting SSB has now lined it up more with the anime version--but shouldn't Vegito have been able to do the exact same thing since he's half Goku and knows everything he knows? Like sealing the energy of SSB within him?
Plus didn't Goku not have mastery like, a chapter ago?
