More to the point, if Gowasu dies in the alternate future what happens to current timeline Ramushi? Does he instantly drop dead? Is there some kind of time paradox? Does this create another alternate timeline? Would he even feel him being (presumably) mortally wounded?Whatever. I love this alternate take on the arc. So far, so much better than how it went down in the anime. No random SSJ RAEG power-up making Trunks uber strong for no rational reason. (presumably) No spirit bomb sword pulled out of his ass (everyone's dead so nobody to give him the energy). Goku not being a blind idiot (hopefully he won't forget the damn sealing tag this time). Gowasu actually doing something other than standing around and saying "Zamasu". No idea, but since Gowasu got stabbed right when Vegeta came out of the ROSAT and Goku perfected the Mafuba (and it was very explicitly mentioned they have 4 senzu beans left), it's likely they'll handle one to Gowasu as soon as they arrive.

Yeah, pretty sure that's where they're going to go - moment kinda loses a lot of the drama when we know from the anime that Gowasu pretty much has to survive to the universal survival arc (because I can't imagine that things would diverge THAT much between adaptions)

While the manga was already superior to the anime, this chapter "officially-officially" solidifies that belief in me. So Goku has learned the mafuba just like his anime counterpart. Hopefully it will go somewhere than him foregoing that responsibility to Future Trunks. But Goku does bring up a question to me when he was talking to Master Roshi: Can a senzu bean revitalize a near dead Mafuba user? Most likely yes, but I am not sure about that. Despite not doing much, but practically all of Vegeta's scenes were beautiful, especially when he came out of the HBTC like a boss. Plus I loved these two quotes: -"The hell with Rose... that fucking prick" -"Ready or not... here I come, you fucking bastard" Go Vegeta! Beerus not traveling to the future is quite disappointing to say the least. To see Beerus fighting against SSJR Black and Future Zamasu would be a dream come true (especially if both Zamasu's fused). Damn, hopefully somebody makes a fanfic about this scenario one of these days. I swear to Zeno that Future Zamasu is gayer than the happiest man in the universe. "How beautiful... what marvelous radiance... shimmering". At this point Black could probably create a entire "black" spirit bomb just from Future Zamasu's sick love for oneself. SMH While it does suck that a portion between Future Trunks and Black's fight was skipped, but the ending sequences was beautiful. Also Gowasu and Shin saving Trunks and Mai from certain death was Awesome to a capital A. I am glad those time rings were finally used for the protagonists benefit, and not for Zamasu's own purposes. Also I thought that Black briefly used Roshi's Thunder Shock Surprise to immobilize Trunks, but unfortunately that was not the case. Gowasu and Black's talk was probably one of my favorite pieces of dialogue in all of super (anime and manga) since it basically gave us everything if Black ever talked to Gowasu in his current predicament. Also Black's statement was highly interesting: -"This makes the third time that I've killed you'. I swear if Rumoosh had live insurance, he would be the richest fucker in existence. This cat (well elephant if you understand slang) was offed three times off-screen by the same fucker, so if Rumoosh EVER had the chance to be in the same room as Black, I could only imagine what our pink elephant destruction god would do to the demented kai. If you could imagine Black getting his ass beaten to a inch of his life before getting hakai'd by Rumoosh's trunk while quoting some badass hindu vengeance quotes, then you get the memo lol

This is the third time I repeat myself but there's simply not enough times to reassure how better I think the manga is in comparison to the anime.
This could even have been more fulfilling than the Buu saga in the Anime if everything happened like in the manga + some good fillers, such as Trunks training more with Kibito and Shin, and scenes of Black and Zamasu razing alien planets in other universes. Perhaps even a small glimpse of him killing the Kaioshins (only some shadows appeared in the anime for 2 seconds). Maybe even some scenes of Vegeta inside the ROSAT.
Yet on the other hand we arguably got one of the worst DB sagas ever due to poor pacing (initially it went really slow, but the final 4 or 5 chapters went really quick), ass-pulls, unnecessary transformation etc.. and characters that appeared far more one dimensional.

I wonder if Toyotaro is paying attention to how the anime is received, and modifying the story appropriately? Either that, or he has a better sense for a story than Toei does.

I like that the Supreme Kai were allowed to be useful. They were always underused and wasted characters for the most part. When they are actually allowed to be useful they are pretty handy. Saving Trunks and Mai on his own without telling anyone showed East has heart and is very brave. The tension was high in here as well with Goku and Vegeta needing to abandon Trunks just to escape. That is a good way to create tension. I loved this confirmed that since the timelines have diverged into becoming parallel worlds of each other that changing the time machine from its settings would make it impossible for them to go to Trunks' timeline. The setting have to stay the same now or they cannot travel between worlds with the time machine. It also explains why they can't just use Cell's time machine either. It would take them back to the timeline where Cell successfully killed Trunks.
Goku apologizing and recognizing Bulma and Vegeta's worry for Trunks is such a relief. Yes, Goku being ignorant or not understanding things is supposed to be comedy or a joke, but he is capable of understanding emotions. This feels like a Goku who is more in character than he has been in a while. Supreme Kai of U10 had great scenes. I respect him trying to save the remaining mortals on Earth and to get Zamasu to see the error of his ways. It shows him taking responsibility and attempting to make amends, while desperately trying to get his student to understand what the Kai are meant to do. Black killing him without hesitation and with glee cements him as a lost cause, the same with Zamasu. It makes me hate them both more.
I do wish the time chamber limit being removed is a bad move. Once that is done the characters can get any amount of quick training in short amount of time without limit. It sort of kills tension and throws the power scale further out of tact, which is weird enough as it is. Black can beat Trunks easily in Goku's base, yet Trunks' SS2 is as strong as SS3 Goku (who is stronger than SS2 Vegeta)... Don't get me started on Beerus scale. Having Beerus be that much stronger than them despite all the training they get is a bit too much for me. At least have Beerus training again to maintain his lead. I was hoping Zamasu's master would point out how Zamasu's plans were going to end life everywhere and how his needless destruction made him no different from the mortals he hates. He is went from character who tried to do the right thing to card carrying villain who is laughing at how evil he is. It's fine to be the latter, but it sort of misses the point of having a villain who is morally gray or starts out with good intentions a bit. It feels like we're missing a chunk of his character development a bit.

Best points cuz everyone else beat me to the Kidney Punch.
Gowasu talking to Zamasu and getting backstabbed in the process... or frontstabbed? How Trunks survived makes more sense in the Manga than the anime. Somebody finally asking why they couldn't change the setting on the time machine and Black and Zamasu referencing trying to sneak under Zeno's invisible nose.

Gowasu getting stabbed was unexpected. Black bashing Trunks fitted perfectly to his character. Supereme Kai's in the action! Good use of characters. Goku for once seemed sensible and a bit serious here compared to his anime counterpart who was only pissed on Black for killing his family. Vegeta is super pissed 10/10 its time to break some Black bones. Thank you for explaining the Time Machine configurations. Go Toyotaro!

Gowasu! Honestly. Dying not once, not twice, but three times!? In a single arc no-less? This is why me and your Mother can't take you anywhere! Should of seen him at his last birthday party. Had to have the children's paddling pool on standby in case he fell on the candles. Might I suggest a change in careers? Maybe one with a higher percentage of life expectancy? Still the way he got shanked...I feel like i've seen it somewhere before...A student/son individual seduced to villainy in a deluded sense of entitlement and justice killing off his only paternal figure to solidify his conviction...: Oh...Yeah. Still props to the manga. It seems to handle the more graphic and darker undertones of the series quite well. I can hardly believe that the anime/manga are both adaptions of the same source material. One is so clear and "safe" that you'd think people's organs in the anime where made out of titanium. While in the manga straight up impalement no-cutting away or using coloured silhouettes. So far it's doing a decent job, but i'll reserve judgement of the manga until it concludes.

By all accounts it sounds like a better version of the anime.

The manga is so much better so far! I prefer watching an anime over reading its manga but Toyotaro does a great job handling the story compared to Toei. The things I didn't like about the Goku Black saga had to do with the plot itself. Toyotaro managed to make it more enjoyable and give it better pacing at least. Thoughts about this chapter: -Goku apologizing and understanding emotions. I know that Toriyama said that he didn't like Toei making Goku out to be more of a hero but he does check Toyotaro's manga each chapter which means he approves of his portrayal of Goku. That leads me to believe that it was Toei decided to make Goku stupider in the anime and it wasn't necessarily Toriyama who demanded it from them. -Gowasu and Kaioshin saving Trunks and Mai makes more sense than Trunks getting a new form out of nowhere and distracting Black until Goku and Vegeta returned. (By the way, isn't it odd that our U7 Kaioshin doesn't have his own name but some of the other universe Kaioshins were given one?) -I like Bulma's explanation about why they can't spend as long as they want in the present. I don't think this was mentioned in the anime. -I wonder how much stronger Vegeta became after training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber? I recall them saying they were near their limits after their training during the U6 saga but I forgot if that was anime only. In the original manga, when they felt they were near their limits they had to find a new way to train or unlock a new transformation. The manga does a little better with power scaling but it's still pretty confusing at times. I never liked power levels but I do like the idea of a ranking system like the tiers from DBM or the class system from Yu Yu Hakusho. -It was sad to see that the humans are almost extinct but hopefully that means no Spirit Sword out of nowhere. -It looks like the Sacred Kaioshin planet is still intact so that mean the Kaiju tree could create still new Kaioshin? I don't get how this lifelink between the Kaioshin and Gods of Destruction is supposed to work. The lifelink between Kami and Piccolo made more sense because they used to be one being and they only had that link once they split. Since the Kaioshin are born from a tree and Gods of Destruction are apparently very powerful mortals who are appointed, can one come before the other or do they have to be assigned at the same exact time? This could've been avoided if they just made the enemy stronger than Beerus! -I like that Zeno is implied to be more competent than in the anime. Zamasu mentions that they want to avoid getting his attention and Gowasu says that Zamasu could ask him for forgiveness. I don't think anime Gowasu would ever suggest something like that because it could upset Zeno and result in all of U10 being destroyed. -Why can't Beerus use the Time Rings or at least use the time machine and take care of Goku Black? I don't understand how it's an rule if there's no actual punishment for it and it's unlikely anyone would ever find out considering how far Goku Black and Zamasu got without Grand Priest or Zeno noticing. If time travel is something unnatural, how does the universe somehow account for it and magically spawn a ring for each universe? The only known mortals capable of time travel were a scientist from U12 and Bulma so I'm pretty sure Time Rings didn't exist until these two happened to create time machines. The Kaioshin had all these Time Rings for alternate universe and said it was taboo but never used them to confront the time travelers and at least ask them to stop to avoid making more. To be honest it feels like they were made up for the sake of including Future Trunks in the saga and giving the villain a way to travel to his timeline. I think it would've been a more interesting saga if it took place in the present because then they would be forced to include Beerus in the fighting and possibly other Gods. It could've been a war between gods with some siding with Zamasu and others with Beerus instead of one apprentice Kaioshin managing to kill the rest. I wonder if Toyotaro is paying attention to how the anime is received, and modifying the story appropriately? Either that, or he has a better sense for a story than Toei does. I think because it's a monthly manga, he avoids unnecessarily filler and only adds details that he feels will contribute to the story. We know that he covers Toriyama's original outline but he seems to be less willing to stray away from it than Toei.

I really think Gowasu is dead. So far Toyotaro has managed to portray the horror and empower it much more than Toei did. They killed off quite a lot of the failed executions of otherwise good ideas so far, so it's getting interesting. My prediction is that they will try to seal Zamasu, but they will fail, and then Goku will call Zeno, from where things will continue the same way they did in the anime. But damn, Zamasu's betrayal and Gowasu's death were brutal.

God form?? But isn't blue enough? Well Goku did use the God form against Hit but whats the point of Vegeta using God now when he can wreck ass in Blue? Confusing. Is Toyotaru hinting on a level higher than blue now? Seriously? If this ain't the base Saiyan God form, then it is definitely a new form achieved after reaching SSB limit.

Xeno BlackIt actually comes out on the 21st each month so it shouldn't be long for the whole chapter to leak. I'm hoping the Goku Black saga ends this chapter. The longer he takes, the more filler we get in the anime to give him extra time to catch up. That's why I really wished the anime would release episodes in seasons instead of continuously the entire year. If they released like 26 episodes for half a year, we would basically be at the same point in the story that we are now but with way less filler and more consistent animation.

It's time for another round of... ARE YOU AS BIG A DRAGON BALL NERD AS ASHANARK? Question 1: When you see this image... What is the first thing that comes to your mind? If your answer is... ...you get 100 points. -- DBSuper manga Goku is pretty competent. He gets a neat little IT fakeout on Zamasu--dodges his attack with Trunks by ITing to Supreme Kai, then gets away with both Trunks and Kai by ITing to Mai. Pretty boss. But he also gets to be the one to use the Mafuba on Zamasu, which makes a lot more sense and looks good. -- We now have Vegeta going SSRed for the first time. Pretty cool...though "I figured it out" is still a pretty lackluster explanation for how Vegeta got god ki. -- Goku Black destroyed the General Hospital. That jerk. -- We get some interesting balancing of the god forms in this chapter...SSB is kind of like the Ultra Saiyan to the SSGod's mastered Super Saiyan. And Vegeta has learned how to instantly switch between the two to balance SSG's energy conservation with SSB's power. Hmm... where have we seen that before? Though I like this explanation a lot better than the anime's, which simply said "He got loads stronger." -- And I like how Toyotaro keeps using SSGod. It makes more sense as a separate form than as a vague "Saiyan beyond God." Though on Goku, it makes him look like a plastic bobblehead toy. -- Goku at least gets brownie points for trying to stop Black and Zamasu from merging. Unlike the anime, where he was just standing there like an idiot. (I think.) -- I'm a bit miffed that they've prolonged the story another chapter. Next one's the moment of truth, though: WILL TOYOTARO REMEMBER CANON, AND KEEP THE POTARA PERMANENT? OR WILL HE GO THE WAY OF TOEI AND RETCON THE POTARA? FIND OUT, ON THE NEXT EPISODE...OF DRAGON! BALL! SUPER!
