I simply don't know why people hate Vegito getting undone so much, it happened before, in fucking DBZ when he entered Buu's body, everyone just assumed that it was because of buu magic, but the Kais have been shown to be wrong so many times already, even in the Z saga in fact. Just get over with the nitpicking, it gets really old...
Not to sound rude or anything, but you have to acknowledge the fact just how bad that change made for the potara. For over 20 years many fans (myself included) always known that the potara earrings fusion is well.... permanent. Nothing can change that fact since it has been established in both the anime and manga, which gets even worse when you played some of the earlier video games that always made Vegito remained fused indefinitely in certain scenarios. Raging Blast 2 makes fun of this when Vegito fights against Gogeta and wins.
As for his separation in Buu's body, that was a unique instance that happened during a time where the potara was believed to be permanent. All of the other potara fusions (Old Kai and Kibito-Kai) never defused, thus solidifying the beliefs that it truly was permanent with Vegito's case being the exception. Originally all we had was Goku stating that "the atmosphere in Buu's body dissolved the fusion" where DBM elaborates this notion even further that the absorbed kais (Southern and Grand) found Vegito's existence an abomination and dissolved his essence back into his original components.
I like that answer, and it stays true to the original manga by giving us a answer instead of a vague summary while not deviating from established law that the potara is permanent too much. It fact, it adds to it by making even the dragon balls incapable of dissolving such a fusion. Thus it becomes a power up with ever-lasting consequences that should never be abused.
But when you are slammed with something that "ohh, the potara only lasts forever if you are a kaioshin and for a hour as a mortal", it practically destroys a law you have been aware of for years. Granted it does answer the fact on why Vegito has defused, but it is not worth cheapening the potara to the level of the regular fusion dance. The time limits is what separates the two besides the fusion method, but now they are virtually the same with only
thirty minutes being the difference. How lame...
And get over the nitpicking? I am sorry to bring you bad news but this is far from nitpicking since we are providing valid reasons on why Super is far from being perfect. This is just one of them, but allow me to provide you with more.
1. Frieza surpassing everyone in Z and rivals the likes of SSJ Blue Goku and Vegeta in four months. Utterly inconceivable since jumping from the level of namek to true gods in such a short time is bad writing. The magnitude scaling just does not make any sense.
2. How and why did Future Trunks acquire Super Saiyan Rage in the anime and how he could create a freaking spirit bomb on a whim.
3. Black Goku's nonsensical power ups periodically without any real reason to him (especially the anime). His scythe attack is a prime example.
4. Krillin matching Goku as a Super Saiyan Blue!
5. Android 17 matching Goku as a Super Saiyan Blue!
6. How complicated they made time travel from being originally 4 timelines to the smorgasbord of crap thanks to the time rings.
7. Goku and Vegeta training in the HBTC for like 3 years and didn't appear to risen at all in strength during the universe 6 and 7 tournament.
8. Making Goku a dumbass despite a specific persona was established in Z and GT.
And that is just a few issues with super that is shown. If you choose to close your eyes and believe that super is flawless, by all means go ahead. Super is there to entertain after all. But don't go and blame others for "nitpicking" if we do not see eye to eye. People like me wish for
consistency, where a established body of work is transferred to another with no retcons or nonsensical changes take place. Power scalings, unexplained transformations, power tiers for some characters, and useless retcons makes super suffer so much from the older / original generation such as myself. Granted it has its merits, but it is far from perfect and bullshit writing / changes need to be called out on.
Ashanark Somehow you beat me to it lol. You must have the speed of a god because I was writing this post at a rapid pace. XD

Relax, you did not sound rude, and i am not saying that Super is perfect either, is far from that actually, there are some problems, but for me, as a fan, this a good continuation for Dragon Ball, something that DBGT is not, but I not going to dwell in that, that is not the discussion. Also I don't know if I going to asnwer all your points right now, Im really really hungry and I looked here to see some asnwers, did not expect that much text thrown at me so this will have to wait. The only thing that bugs me is that the Potara fusion was NEVER permament, kid me saw through that in an instant, just use the Dragon Balls and defuse, that would be the obvious thing, even Vegeta was not shaken by being fused with Goku for a eternity, his problem was fusing with Goku specifically, anyways, back on point. Vegito fought and as he enters buu and lowers the barrier he is unfused, this in fact leaves many options open and the Potara not being eternal is one of those, that why, for me, this is nitpicking. It happened before, the Kai were shown to be wrong before, it was the first time Mortals used the Potara fusion so that's another factor to take in consideration.
Asharnark points 1 and 2 I already countered with my own, it's not because it's old and considered cannon from fans that it is right.
Point 3 I can agree in parts, it's not the most elegant solution, but it is still plausible, so they got this going for them
Point 4 I agree completely with you, but let's not fool ourselves, Toryiama was never one to care about lore and cannon, he does things because he think it's cool, or it's pratical like goku losing his tail, so this is very toryiama-like and I don't understand why fans are so pissed at this, really, he does this so much and the show is choke full of inconsistencies.
To Xeno Gotenks and his points
1. This was discussed somewhere, but Freeza getting that stronger and failing fits Freeza personality like a glove. He never bothered to train, he is presumptious and all powerfull. As soon as he discovered his new form he immediately head back to earth to get his vengeance, and he fails, because he once again found himself to be invencible and acted in haste, failing because of his own power and attitude, he increased his power by a lot, yes, but he never trained before and he was the strongest being in the universe, so why can't he reach that level again?
2. I have no explanation for this outside of the fact that he absorbed blue power and own Super Cannon about rage being able of surpassing normal Sayajins level, the spirit bomb was created from pulling energy from the people on earth, Trunks had help from the kais before, he could have learned it with them, it's not far fetched, but it's a long shot, also the spirit bomb can be handled by anyone with a good heart so that's another factor.
3. It was Zenkai, and badly explained in the anime, the manga handles it much better, the Scythe is just a cool villain power, nothing that we haven't seen before many many times.
4. Really? It's kinda fucking obvious that Goku held back, he knows how to control Ki for fucks sake, he was fighting Kuririn and Kuririn needs to know how to keep his cool in front of that kind of power, it is a fucking kamehameha, he can choose how much energy he will spend on that, if he goes all out the whole building would crumble, this is the nitpicking that I was talking about, really, it gets old.
5. Sigh... Again, same reason as before, Goku is KNOWN by doing this kind of shit, holding back is what he DOES ALL THE TIME, stop that.
6. It's a mess, like all time travel shenanigans, but in the end it makes sense, I can't remember anymore but the charts that I saw explained very well and made SOME sense, convoluted anyway, but, like everything that people complain in Super, it happened before with Cell.
7. Power is not the only thing, they trained a lot about ki management and techniques, didn't goku came out with Kaioken in blue form? That is a big powerup, and Vegeta stayed equally strong as Goku.
8. Another point talked to death, there is a reason Goku is that way, and the Survival Arc shows that he is to blame for a lot of the shit that is about to go down, he is acting in a selfish manner, all to get stronger and fight stronger people, we saw this Goku before in Z and Dragon Ball, I can't even remember GT but that wasn't the series where Goku was incapable of beating anything and lost to a fat baby statue? The theme of Goku acting like a Idiot is hammered ALL THE TIME and for a good reason, it's a setup for the next arc, if it will be a good or bad resolution, that we will see.
